I'm a long time console gamer looking to get into the computer gaming arena since I'm building a new pc anyway. Here are my pc specs:

PSU: Cooler Master V1000
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77X UD4H
CPU: either a 3570k or 3770k. I haven't purchased one for sure yet.
CPU cooling: Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme
Case: X-DREAMER4-BL
Ram: 8 gb 1600 (single chip rather than 2x4gb because I'll upgrade soon)

I need to purchase a graphics card. I'm looking for a graphics card in the ~$250 or below range that is going to do well with modded Skyrim and that I can run with xfire or sli in the future. Basically, I want a good gaming computer now that I can upgrade to just slightly better than the expected graphics of the ps4/xbox one (so that I can run games for the next several years). I'm all for buying a used gpu and saving some money.

I can get a used gtx670 for $250. Would you guys recommend going that route and sli later? Or should I wait a few weeks to buy a gpu since some new ones are just now coming out? Any other card I should consider?

Thanks for responding! That isn't a bad deal due to the games which come with it. However, when compared to the reference gtx670 the performance appears to be the same (from what I can find). The extra $30 it worth it for the games, but if I'm not interested in the games should I just go with whichever I can find cheaper? Or does the 7950 have advantages that I'm not seeing?

Also, I currently play at 720p rather than 1080p if this plays a factor.

Most 7950's will OC to 1000-1100 MHZ, which will put it ahead of the 670, also it has a 3GB frame buffer which is a nice feature. Really though, if you are only playing at 720p you could get away with a $150 card and still max out almost any game. You are missing out on one of the best features of PC gaming, which is being able to play at really high resolutions!

Sorry to butt in but is the Sapphire 7950HD good or no? Cause I read some user reviews even on Newegg and it seems to have some problems. I'm really interested in buying it but these reviews threw me off a bit. Thanks

Only if u get a shitty binned 670 will a 7950 even come close. My 670 at 1300/7200 beats my old 7970 at 1175/1600 in everything I benched. Small margin but still. If it beat a 7970 than a 7950 won't touch it.

Stock for stock, 7950 boost is as good or better than a 670, and in no universe does the 670 beat a 7970.
