So I bought a FW900 a few weeks ago and it took the guy two weeks to ship it. I sent $100 for shipping but when he finally sent it he told me it cost $130 so didn't get tracking because it was more money (what, a dollar?).

So here it is the 4th of April and he said he shipped it the 21st of March, I have no monitor, no receipt or proof that he sent it and now I'm being told I'm getting negative HEATWARE for issuing a charge back and "harassment" for inquiring what the hell is going on.

I told him that if/when I get the monitor he will get the money back...I see it as not taking chances. I have no proof he sent it other than a text message saying he did.

Am I being unreasonable here?

Nope not at all. If he leaves retaliatory heat just email the admins over there with the relevant info. A month is more than enough to deliver goods. Make sure YOU leave negative heat for him though.

*EDIT*

Just went an looked at his heat. This is why you never pay first to users with low/no feedback as a seller. Thankfully you had the sense to pay with a CC.

+1
Just that simple.

This is why you never pay first to users with low/no feedback as a seller.

Most people wont go for this. If you do this means you can easily scam the seller.

I do agree here a month is long enough.

Thankfully, You were able to file a charge back.

Too bad nobody at Heatware ever responds. I've e-mailed them several times now for a retaliatory heat I received and not one response yet. OP: what you did is perfectly reasonable and the seller is an idiot for not including tracking.

I would have to agree myself.

Also, he said it shipped via USPS...but according to their website they don't do anything over 70lbs...the monitor is 92lbs.

Not only that but USPS doesn't offer any sort of shipping that would take 7-10 business days (which is what he said they told him it would take) and the lowest Fedex and UPS offer are ground which is like 5 business days max.

So the fact its been officially 11 business days means it either got lost or he didn't ship it.

Looking at his heat he has never sold anything and hasn't bought anything in years. For something like the monitor you purchased I would have required him to ship first. You did the right thing by opening a dispute.

Quick question for those in know.

Does anyone know if UPS or Fedex even offer something as long as 7-10 business day shipping? When he sent it out that's what he told "they" said but I can't find any shipping method from the two that shows 7-10 days...cheapest I can find is "ground" shipping from both thats like 2-4 days.

Just trying to determine if the 7-10 business days is enough proof that he lying about sending it. Like I said, I can't find anything from anyone that shows they even offer a service that would take that long.

usps if he ships parcel can take 2-3 weeks since there is no tracking. At least that is from my personal experience.

UPS/Fedex always come with tracking and it only take up to 5days if you ship coast to coast

I think the longest shipping time I've had was about 6 days. That was UPS ground from Florida to California.

OP, why don't you ask the seller to come here and explain his side of the story. Even if he ships USPS and doesn't buy tracking, he still can show you receipt

Already texted him asking for this. Told him I would refund money no problem if I could get some proof he sent it. He never got back to me.

I still stand on that though. If I do end up getting the monitor then there would be no issues.

I shipped speakers via parcel and it took a week. I did add tracking though. The quoted time was up to 10 days, so it doesn't sound like he's making that up. I suspect he took the cheapest route, as shipping that huge item was probably very expensive. It may have gotten lost or stuck somewhere. I had that happen with a CPU I sold. Have you asked the seller to call USPS and ask where it is? I had tracking on my CPU but I was able to call and find out when the CPU had actually left the facility it was stuck at.

Just trying to give the seller benefit of the doubt here. If anything, he should have added tracking...

Since you noted he didn't pay for tracking. I now wonder if he even paid for insurance on the monitor then. I been noticing stuff like this happening over and over here. Seller sales a item and ships it and then states; "It has nothing more to do with me after I mail it." You as a seller are responsible until the buyer is 100% happy with the item. Moving on, hopefully he will come in here and post some information.

The odd thing is his status says this.

Send him a email where his paypal is? Might want to get a mod to send him a pm about this thread. But you did the correct thing by getting your money back. Communication is the key in selling items online. Good luck and hopefully everything works out and you get the monitor.

Well I have confirmed that USPS does NOT ship anything for any reason if it is over 70lbs. This has been confirmed via numerous Google searches and asking my cousins wife who works at USPS.

So slow sending Parcel Post or any other USPS method is out of the question.

So that brings us to UPS or Fedex. I can't find a single source online that claims that UPS or Fedex has a CONUS shipping method that would take 7-10 business days, let alone the 12 business days that it's been so far. If this was out of country then sure I could see it taking that long. More so it would seem that Fedex and UPS include shipping at no additional charge...it is standard...so he would have no reason NOT to have tracking.

Sooo...yeah...

If a mod could PM him that would be nice. I'm sending him an email now for sure to try and get more details.

I have to say that personally I find it EXTREMELY odd though that he would send it without tracking (which he claims was just more money - BS) and the fact that he's claiming it cost $130 yet didn't bother texting me or calling me to see if this was OK. If he was that hard up on cash that the extra $1, if that, for shipping then I find it odd that he wouldn't check to see if I could send more cash or whatever.

Either way I have found that I have to go to the police station and file a report for my bank. I HAD a dispute open on PayPal but closed it once he told me he shipped it (yes yes...my bad for not asking for proof...however he had been very cool and open so I just didn't doubt him right off the bat) and they have told me they can't reopen the dispute. So in order for me to issue a charge back for this problem I have to create a police report according to my bank.

Either way, I will get my money back. Have to say I feel lucky in the fact that over the years with like 100+ trades/sells/buys that I've never had issues before...so this certainly hasn't soured me at all.

At least you had the credit card chargeback as a backup. After reading you closed that paypal dispute I cringed for you. Hope everything works out.

Seller is obviously flaky for not including a tracking number on an outrageously expensive shipment. There is no excuse for saying "No" to a $1 tracking number. When I send out packages, I as the sender enjoy knowing where that thing is and when it arrives. Just silly business.

If a mod could PM him that would be nice. I'm sending him an email now for sure to try and get more details.

Ill shoot him a PM and make him aware of this thread....hopefully you guys can work this out

I feel for you. A shitty seller is a shitty seller. Let's hope you will get your money back.:)

So here it is business day number 13 and still no monitor. I would include Saturdays as every one delivers on Saturdays, but what ever.

Either way, I have texted him a couple times with no response. I'm going to the police station tomorrow to file a report and open up a charge back with my bank.

Should I contact his local PD and let them know what's going on? I know it's only $100, but it's still technically theft and what not.

I'm still convinced he didn't send it at all. From what I can tell Fedex, USPS, and UPS include tracking at no extra charge right now. So it should have been included either way.

I will also be leaving Negative HEATWARE and will let other mods on the other forums he is one to keep an eye on him. If he is willing to screw me I don't see why he wouldn't do the same to others.

Hopefully the negative will rattle the cage. $100? What's wrong with the monitor? FW900's usually cost a lot more than $100.

$100 was just for shipping. Was going to trade stuff for the actual monitor. Luckily I didn't send anything out.

Well I just left negative feedback for him on HEATWARE. Also filed a police report and am working with my bank for a charge back.

Will be calling his local PD (I have his name, address, and phone number) tomorrow to see if they can help.

I have no idea why he has not received the FW900 yet. I have not heard from him for ~2 weeks so I assumed he had received it by now.

I am not sure what to do in this situation. I do not want to lose one of my favorite monitors in history and not receive any compensation for it.

Within the first couple days of the deal closing JoeUser attempted to charge back the purchase he made, after I contacted him about it, he apologized and said he closed the case with Paypal. About a week later I noticed the case was still up, so I called him again and he said he forgot.

I received two or more texts a day from JoeUser from the day we closed the sale, with his threats beginning just days into the sale. That is the reason I said he was harassing me. He calls me non stop, and keeps threatening me with the Police.

I have been posting here for ~ 7 years, have 1000's of posts and have never had a bad transaction or heat. Regarding this deal, all I have received is the $100 he sent me for shipping, which did not even totally cover shipping. I have not received anything promised for the trade, nor do I have anyway of knowing whether or not JoeUser actually has the FW900.

What am I supposed to do?

I will check back on this thread when I get home tonight.

Thanks to Crosshairs for notifying me about this thread, otherwise I would have never known about it.

Here is the communication I had with JoeUser via hardforum private chat:

"I have $40 now! Plan on putting some stuff up on Craigslist once I get my PC up and going Friday and get the rest of the funds.

I'll make this happen one way or another.

Do you have a phone number? Wanna ask a few questions if you don't mind.

Thanks!

My HEATWARE is here: http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=67251

As you can see I've had much more expensive deals and have had plenty of much more current dealings here on the forums so you have no worries as far as trust and all that.

If this is cool then we're game on!

What's your address? I can have everything packed and ready to go today.

Hows the picture quality on it? Any burn in? Is it wearing out in any conceivable way (dimming, color shift, etc)? What would you HONESTLY rate it on a scale of 1-10?
Honestly it has the best picture quality of any monitor I have ever seen. The only issues with quality would be a couple small black scuffs on the monitor, hardly noticeable. I have not seen any form of burn in, dimming or any issue. I would feel comfortable rating it at a 9+"

Your username says 4.9 years right now. You do just have one account right? I was just trying to understand the number difference there. Or did you just lurk around reading comments for 3-4 years like me before starting an account. :D

Without any form of tracking, the burden lies with you proving it was shipped.

Do you not have a receipt from the shipper? FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL......everyone gives you a receipt when you ship something.

yup...if you are shipping something that big, you should've invested in the extra dollar or two for tracking to make sure it was delivered.

yup...if you are shipping something that big, you should've invested in the extra dollar or two for tracking to make sure it was delivered.

Not to mention insuring such a large, heavy, and expensive product!!!

This shows a fail on the sellers part. Also as mentioned, you would have a receipt to prove you actually shipped the item.

Here is the PM I just sent to JoeUser - "I am not sure why the FW 900 has not arrived to you yet, but as other users on this forum deem fit, the burden of fault lies upon myself for not keeping a copy of a receipt. I will refund your 100 dollars via the method of your choice, please include those details when you reply to this message.

Sorry again for the hassle, I am literally in the processing of moving and should not have tried make a sale while under these periods of long absences from the PC.

also When the FW 900 does arrive, please contact me so I can have arrangements made to have it shipped back safely to me. "

That sentence just looks so damn suspicious and I don't know why.

also When the FW 900 does arrive, please contact me so I can have arrangements made to have it shipped back safely to me. "

Then I read this line and it too strikes me as a little suspicious. Am I the only one who sees it that way?

Not only did the OP/Buyer say he has no problem paying his end of the deal if/when the monitor does arrive, but just the way he is wording them reminds me so much of those CL/Email scams that I sometimes get.

Accusations and conjecture help no one.....if you dont have helpful information or advice, please refrain from posting ..

Just wanted to chime in and say that I responded back to his PM. We'll see what happens from here. Really have no need to respond to what he said above. Gross exaggeration I would say. What did he expect me to do? Just sit around with my thumb up my butt while I'm out a hundred dollars and still haven't received anything?

Plus, as has already been mentioned, I've checked with all shipping companies and USPS would not ship it and Fedex and UPS provides free tracking for ALL packages. So the "I didn't get tracking" is simply not true.

As far as the "harassment" goes this also isn't true. I texted him a few times to just let him know what was going on. I never threatened him past what was the truth nor did I call him all the time (think I called once) nor has he ever tried contacting me AT ALL. The PM he sent me just now is the FIRST response I've had from him in WEEKS.

Oh well...we'll see what happens. Either way my reputation here and my HEAT shows what kind of seller/buyer I am. I really feel no need to have to defend myself.

The only thing I can think of that would take a long time to ship a heavy object, would be a private freight carrier.

I have ordered furniture and other goods and they are delivered via a freight company, but even then those guys use email or some other form of tracking to let you know the delivery window.

Despite that, show me a receipt.

Even without a receipt it's possible to see if there's a package destined for your location. UPS has a function like that once you register on their site (it's free).

What the seller told me is that his local post office said it was too heavy but that some post office near his town COULD ship it. However from my research it would appear that NO post office would ship this.

So if he shipped with Fedex or UPS then you would be able to look up tracking info by address. I've contacted both and no shipment can be found.

Only conclusion I can come to is that he didn't send it. It's the only thing that makes sense. No company has any record of it, USPS simply wouldn't ship it...sooo...yeah...

However, we shall see what happens. See if he can keep up on his end.

It may be a stretch, but by "some post office" he could be referring to a third party shipping/mailing shop. They in turn could've sent it via private freight, but that'd be slow and expensive.

How do you ship something that big and not have any kind of receipt? Even without tracking he should have a receipt showing the transaction?

He mentions he's in the process of moving, I can see losing a receipt in the mess of a move....that being said I find the whole situation sketchy, I'm just playing a devil's advocate with "what-if's" :p
