Starcraft 2:WOL $20

Heart of the Swarm is coming out soon, and you need WoL to play it, so Blizzard is making sure they don't screw up sales with this decision and makes the original available for cheaper than they usually drop games after a couple years.

Is this cheaper than the HOT & WOL deal? I sold my WOL...Really only care to play single player then dont need the game anymore Lol

When they announced they were dragging WOL out into 3 stand alone products(why pay for one game when you can pay for three?)everyone rejoiced. So now they're forcing potential customers to own WOL in order to play the 2nd game? Lovely..

How fitting of the new and wondrous Blizzard.

Fuck Blizzard they are dead. Activision and Bobby Kotick killed them.

Things were so different back in the "good old days" with with SC and BW, WC3 and FT, WC2 and ToD, D2 and LoD ...

I would be the exact same as getting the HOT and WOL bundle for $60. HOT by itself is $40.

SC2 is trash now honestly. It has been taken over by Koreans that play 16 hours a day and made the game boring not to mention that the game is imbalanced as hell (I was Top Masters as Terran in case anyone is wondering, Blizzard does not know how to balance a game).

The game is fairly balanced from what i see watching HDStarcraft replays of some of the top players beta testing HOTS right now.

I don't play much online these days, but just like D3, it's a pain in the ass for me to just play some single player games vs AI when i'm on the road without a connection.

This is a good deal if you don't have the first and want HOTS, i guess..Thx OP.

Balanced or not the game is boring now. Now its all about whoever has higher APM. The first two years of SC2 were the best as strategy was actually rewarded now its just about who wants carpel tunnel more and grinds out more games each day.

Could you explain this a little more? Every update for SC2 they've come out with seem to work towards removing early game cheese which kind of contradicts your statement

This is nothing like the original Starcraft and brood wars. Nothing like this at all.

Someone sounds butthurt. So what if someone plays the game better than you? It has nothing to do with what country your from. It's obvious that if you have two people compete, the one who practices more is most likely to win.

Strategy is just as rewarding as it was when the game came out. If you compare the 2010 strategies to 2013, you'd see that the game has only swelled in depth of strategy.

Dear Blizzard,
I'm not sure if you are fond of chicken, but please go eat a cock.

Thats the problem. Blizzard was too keen on releasing patches instead of releasing new maps that would make cheese less of a problem.

I'm not butthurt just being honest. Any Korean would destroy you as well or rather any player that plays more hours than you. I havent touched the game for over 6 months I'm just stating my opinion.

The game should place more of an emphasis on strategy is what I'm getting at. Right now the game is about who has more apm.

When the game was first released it was all about strategy for the first two years now the game is stale.

Fair enough, I can definitely see your point, the strategy of the game was stagnating from August to December of last year. A quick contrary note,it's actually pretty interesting, the strategies developing in the HotS beta have carried over somewhat into WoL, and have made the past two months extremely fascinating to watch.

For example, there's been a huge surge of hydra use in pro matches as well as protoss air units becoming wildly popular as well.

The APM argument is BS,. The same type of game play that gets you a win in SC2 multi will get you a win in Brood multi right now.

SC2 is an amazing game and has the consensus of reviews to prove it. But because Activision removed LAN play and multi-region play, many die hards got butt hurt and changed the zeitgeist that the game earned by whining about a few things at the top of their lungs.

People just need to STFU and stop trying to overanalyze things.

Actually the APM arguement has been problem. Check out Teamliquid.net and search apm. They had graphs showing that players with higher APM statistically win more over the player with less APM.

Some of the players with the highest APM are the best in the world. You will never see a player with less than 100 APM or even 120 APM getting really good results. The game is much more mechanical than strategic right now which is quite sad in my opinion.

...right, because that is the entire point of RTS games; the better you are at multitasking, the better a player you will be. It has always been that way. It is what separates RTSs from every other game genre.

It really sounds like you should play FPS.

Good deal for those who are getting HOTS and don't already have this. I purchased WOL at launch and can't wait to get my HOTS preorder in the mail!!

I am not very good at SC2 but I sure do enjoy playing it.

After watching a few videos on what APM is about....

Yeah, no thanks.

I've played the original SC, Brood War, Wings of Liberty, a few C&C titles, Company of Heroes, and some others I'm probably forgetting about. I've never had to destroy my keyboard just to play any of those games and get through the campaigns. I can see why it'd be a necessity in multiplayer, but at the same time I think employing strategy should take precedence over how fast you can press keys on a keyboard. There should be a point where APM is irrelevant if your strategy is garbage. Having watched some of the videos, I've seen some of the players clicking on units and hotkeying them for the sake of clicking and hotkeying on things, and they've even admitted to just doing that for the sake of keeping their APM up. That, to me, is just ridiculous. And what's equally ridiculous is that some of those players look like the word "sleep" doesn't exist in their vocabulary. If I have to play and look like that just to be "average" or "so so", then HELL NO.

I've played RTS multiplayers before, and yeah, I'll admit my APM sucks but I didn't do too badly, all things considered. I also don't have carpal tunnel either despite using a keyboard both for my work and for my gaming, and I'm appreciative of that fact. That's just how I see it.

As for HOTS, I'm still on the fence about getting it. Diablo 3 really shattered my perceptions of Blizzard and I really do not want more disappointment. The only thing I want from HOTS at this point is the campaign. I've always loved the SC universe and the storyline.

I always chuckle when I read things like this. Out of the last 19 Code S GSL Champions (since SC2), the races were 8 Zerg, 8 Terran, and 3 protoss. So protoss is a little behind the curve but I wouldn't make such an egregarious remark about balance as you did.

Well imo, its both actually. They are not mutually exclusive. You need the actions to implement your strategy. Can you out muscle your opponent just by out macroing them? Sure. But you can also out strategize your opponent say by a sneak attack (hidden proxy) which wouldn't require a lot of APM. Don't be confused, both are very powerful and both are needed to be really successful. I may not have explained this the best, I was just trying to make a point that its not wholly one or the other as some people are making it out to be. IT IS a strategy game, and its very fast so, yes, fast actions are rewarding.

WIsh there was a way to rent PC games...Never enjoyed the multiplayer side of Starcraft..Only liked playing campaign. I bought WOL but once I beat it I went onto multiplayter but didnt really like it felt too constricting compared to supreme commander. Ended up selling WOL but had issues with the blizzard account. Most single player games on PC are not worth the full price. Is blizzard really going to deliver a full game with HOS? Remember them saying each race has a full game behind it..

Well you better just stay away from it then. HoTS will be very similar to WoL, 20+ campaign missions and multiplayer (some new units). Anyways, regardless of what anyone wants to define as a "full game" to themselves, HoTS will have approx the same content as WoL did as far as campaign goes.

Actually, most fans of the pro scene would argue that BW was a game that benefits more from ridiculously high APM than SC2 does.

I've played a hefty amount in the past two years, and I wouldn't consider myself that great (top 20% NA), but I would argue that having high APM doesn't really matter once you're in the top 10% up towards the pros. For casual players like myself, just having solid strategies, game sense, and enjoyment of the game is all you really need :p

Yea because basing balance off of the top 00.1% percentile makes the most sense. :D. Evere try playing late game Terran in WoL against zerg or toss??? I doubt it.

Well actually that is the one category that does make sense. Its the one subset of players where there is very little variation. I certainly wouldn't want to examine balance issues against wood league players.

I'm confused. Aren't the U.S. and Asian servers separated? Do S. Koreans choose the U.S. West servers for shorter wait times?

I want that single-player campaign and user-driven maps.

Got my SC2 account back..playd online & wow does this game just suck? It seems like everyone sits back mines then huge army attacks game over...Not sure how this is a strategy RTS game...I guess coming from Supreme commander FA i cant expect much from this RTS....

why do people complain about the expansion thing? RTS games have always had expansions that added new content that you had to pay for. Why weren't Age of Empires and the Rise of Rome expansion complained about?

Because most people can't multi task well enough and you are most likely in a super low league. If you watch SC2 pro gamers there is constant harassment, drops, small attacks and econ micro all at the same time. Most people just cant manage to keep all of that up. Specifically at the low level. What I hate about SC2 is the custom games. I used to have endless fun on SC and WC3 with custom games way more than the ladder on both and SC2 custom games just suck. Pretty much why I wont buy HotS.

I really like starcraft 2, and im fairly interested in the new expansion. I found multiplayer to be more stressful then fun. Ive pulled some amazing wins out of my behind mostly playing on the ladder just stresses me out. Even if i win, i feel like its just exhausting game to play.
