New Logitech G series line-up

I like my G700, but there is still a void in their line. I still have my G7 and they have nothing to replace it. The G700s is just too bulky to be considered, though if it fixes a few complaints I have about the G700 i will buy it. I see they have the G500 which is the same size/profile as the G7 but it is wired and that is a deal killer.

The new products look ugly as sin, in my opinion. And they don't even mention on the website if any of the keyboards are mechanical. When I saw the announcement I was annoyed that I literally just bought a G510+ and G700 (I also have a G9, G9x, G19, two G15s, and a G13, and a G930 headset).

Then I saw them. Ugh. Now I'm quite glad I bought them. I should check to see if Amazon lowered the price any so I can get a partial refund. :)

I am also disappointed to see no G9x successor... I'm about due for a mouse replacement too; my current G9x is coming up on 4 years and I'm surprised the buttons still feel as tight as they do after all the gaming done on it.

Heads up guys, the G9X has been discontinued, grab them while they're cheap!

I bought for 2 backup even though my first G9 has been going strong for 5 years before I upgraded to my G9x 2 years ago because for the DPI upgrade.

First off, that is just hilarious! :D

Second, that is exactly what I thought. For one, theyre not any different than their current line up at least they don't seem to be. Yeah they've got some fancy (some might say fugly) looks to them, but they look the same.

Check out the Sensei Raw. I came from a G9 and have tried a BUNCH of mice and the Sensei Raw is the only one that Ive stuck with. The G9 was my alltime favorite gaming mouse but the more I use this Sensei, the more I think I might have found a worthy successor.

Thanks for the advice. I use a hybrid-ish claw/palm; mouse tilted ~45* to the left, thumb tip on middle-upper right side, ball of palm pushing the bottom left edge with the palm wrapped around the mouse while pinky and/or ring grip the right side, G9x with precision grip and off-set sensor was perfect for this. So, I prefer the smaller and low profile mice with centralized sensors.

I think that's what logitech was going for, a new rehash of their old mice they literally have NO changes to their body. Where the fuck is my G9s?

well, they finally managed to ruin the G700, now it looks retarded, childish. good job logicrap, i think floating between seven and six in a year wasnt low enough..

gutted that they are discontinuing the G9x...

anyone know what "Delta Zero Sensor Technology" is?

What is this shit? They want you to pre-order and they don't even give you basic specs.

If their keyboards are mechanical I would consider one, but they better hurry before the K95 comes out.

The mouse lineup is disappointing. They don't give any specs and they look almost exactly same as what they have now. I would really like a wireless G600. I currently use the G700 and the G700s doesn't look like it has any improvements at all, it may even be a step backwards.

Something is telling that a digital watchmaker can teach Logitech a thing or two about customisable comfort and clicking actuation for their mice.

my thoughts exactly are they trying to cash in the tron crowd? I don't want my mice to look gay. I think i might have to bite to keep a spare g9 around.

I really don't know what Logitech was thinking here. They were moving in the right direction (in regards to design) with the G700 and G600 in my opinion and then they announce this...

They are not mechanical. Logitech is aware of the need for mechanical keyboards for higher-end gamers (g710+), but it doesn't look like they care to deliver with this product line (probably need to hit some price point).

anyone knows the song name they use in the vid?

btw, G9x is the worst mouse I used IMO, I tried hard for more than 2 weeks and ruined my battlefield k/d and I couldn't use it, mainly because of the sensor location.

To each their own. I can't stand the sensor mounted on to the top of the mouse. The mid point location like the G9 is ideal for me.

Looks like they gave their current product line a new paintjob and called it all new-and-improved?

Wondering where the G710+ fits into this, and if the two "new" keyboards are mechanical.

Hey guys the "s" means silly looking.

Amazon has the g700 for $70, 30 less the S version.

Thats just their MSRP price which means nothing - no sites like amazon or newegg ever sell logitech products at MSRP. Obviously the older one should be cheaper still.

The real problem I see here is theres no chart that shows you a clear cut answer of what changed from the G700 to the G700s other than the ugly design. I never look at my mouse, I use it, so if there are functional changes like 2x battery life I'll pick one up.

I agree, I can't find any information on the g700s so for now I assume it was a cheap marketing blitz with no real product innovation behind it.

There should be a false advertising lawsuit against anyone using the terms "wireless" and "gaming" in the same sentence, unless they include the words "not suitable for". :p

Gah. Why no G9x...can't they discontinue the g700s and replace it with a g9s? :D

You must not have got the memo but the lag in wireless mice has been gone for many generations now. I think the last time I saw one with lag was some Bluetooth mouse.

You obviously haven't used the G700.... or any console gaming peripheral released in the past 10 years.

Yeah, wireless mice have been fine for ages, let it go. Now if only they'd bring back the battery-swap feature of the G7...

Gotta agree. My G700 works as well in wireless mode as it does wired. I just hate them cause I hate having to deal with battery charging. Wired mice for life as far I'm concerned.

The G series lineup is rather nice. I mainly play Rift and my dps build has a lot of situational macros and abilities, so when I got my g600 ( a mice that is made of BUTTONS) my gaming experience became so much smoother <3

What I do is swap the actual battery itself with eneloops I have charging nearby. Gotta say, it's not a perfect solution, because you can have a situation where the battery will die while playing a game or something, because the Logitech early-warning system isn't so reliable. The G7 was brilliant, you never had more than 1 second of downtime and always had a battery charging or charged.

Have you run in to any sensor issues? And is the third button placement that bad? I had considered the G600, but that third button gives me the hibigeebies.

Yeah there isn't much of a warning at all, it just stops working on the G700. I eventually just kept the thing wired the whole time but since the cord that comes with it is the thickness of a garden hose, I got tired of it. I still break it out every now and then to have something new to feel up but its a big enough hassle that itll never be my mainstay like my Sensei Raw is.

Truth. An updated G7 would be fantastic. I've been happy with my G400 as it feels like a proper update on the older MX518, but I'd really like to go back to wireless but have a quick system for swapping batteries.

You glazed over the memos about dropouts that still occur... :p

Plus the annoying battery thing... The dropouts and batteries and slight lag don't exactly make it very...mission critical worthy...:D

From what I've seen through discussions on forums, dropouts/issues occur for one of the following:

– the mouse is not configured properly via the drivers (for instance set to Power Saving mode as opposed to Gaming mode);
– the receiver is not placed correctly in the 'line of sight' or the extension is not used when it should be.

Once this corrected people have come back saying the issues are gone.

And there is no perceivable lag on the G700; I don't know where you are getting that from.

That's a whole bunch of crap you don't have to deal with for the price of one cable, if you arrange it no stupidly, you never have to deal with. Needing LoS and to roll dice for a damned peripheral is silly.

Those weren't the only errors, unless it's broken a wired mouse will work 100% of the time. Even if it doesn't break wireless mice will be more prone to failure due to occasional dropouts and batteries running flat, a working wired mouse shall never have dropouts. Using a wired mouse is much less PITA. Wireless's one junk "pro" to counteract it's lower performance, lower reliability, less features, usually higher cost, higher weight and higher latency is that there's one cable (which isn't an issue).

It's only a small amount of latency, about the 4-8ms same as IPS lag, but it's there and gives everything a slight slow "floaty" feel until you adjust. Once you're used to the slower latency it's less of an issue.

I have nothing to add; you are obviously biased by your preference for wired mouses (nothing wrong with that per se) but you are insisting with blanket statements that do not necessarily pertain to the G700.

I don't have to deal with any of that crap hes mentioning, it sounds like people dont know how to set shit up or have a incompatibility. My computer is on the other side of my monitors with a few books in between and the wireless signal makes it to the mouse just fine. After seeing countless post your desktop pics over the years I can imagine an extension being needed on only a very small percentage of setups.

Its my opinion (I have several wired mice) that any floaty feel is purely placebo effect and has no impact on actual gaming performance what-so-ever. The floaty effect WAS there (and were talking barely) with a few of the wireless mice around 2005, such as the MX700 & MX1000, more-so if you picked the mouse up off the pad when moving, but its been YEARS since logitech released a gaming grade wireless mouse with lag.

It sounds like you're just on the hate-wagon because you have to deal with a wire when you dont necessarily have to. I'm sure if someone told you that you could use the same mouse you had today without anything changing except for the wire being gone you'd opt in.

Yeah I have to change a single AA battery every 1-2 days of heavy gaming, but that's a small price to pay for freedom. And really, that's the only difference between it and my wired mouse.

No sensor issues, and as far 3rd button goes its just matter of getting used to it or not.

Its not that big of a button that I cant avoid it, sometimes I just ignore it and hold it like I did in 2nd image. In the second image it may seem that I might click the 3rd button, but I am actually holding onto the side of the mouse with no problem.

Edit: images came out huge, redoing them.
