Radeon 7870 Tahiti(aka 7930) for $220(after MiR) and free Sleeping Dogs(awww)

I normally shop through amazon but i gotta say newegg went above and beyond in customer service for me. I ordered the 7870 for $229.99 soon as i came back up from out of stock, it didnt have any game bundle at that time but my vid card is going out on me so jumped on the price. Next day it shows the bioshock and tomb raider bundle at $239. I do the online chat with newegg and the lady talks to her supervisor and they send me the game coupons

Darn you Fooshnik. Looks like I may be crossfiring 2 of these. ;) So much for my plans of going with nVidia this time around, just nothing close to the performance in this price range.

I'm waiting on a bid to see if I might go 2560x1600, at which point two of these would be the ticket. Much better performance than 680/7970 for about the same price. Sadly I won't know until after the sale if I get the screen... der

ncix is back in stock now. Figures, I pulled the trigger on a normal 7870 thinking the price on the PCS+ would jump back to $260 at ncix once it came back in stock (the message still says the auto $25 savings ends on 2/6 but it comes out at $235 in my cart if I try). Would have definitely gone with the ncix PCS+ if I knew that was the case for $215 after MIR today...oh well my 7870 gets here today and I don't feel like going through the hassle of returns and nonsense I'll just enjoy what I get!

Anyone that got in on one of these having issues getting the drivers to detect the card?

No problems here....this card is so amazing I may replace my GTX670 in my main with two of these....Right now this 7930 (this deserves to be called an x930 more than the 5830 deserved to be called it's name) is residing in my Media PC...Gets toasty, but with a PCI exhaust it hovers around 74c, which from what I read is pretty normal. Was worried that the 450 Watt PSU would buckle...but the entire machine is solid...This card is streets ahead of the GTX460 it replaced(now being used as a physics card in my Main). If AMD didn't overprice the Radeon 79xx initially, I'd probably have two 7950's in my main right now. AMD cards seem to have a "cleaner" feeling to me for some reason.

I didn't have any issues with the PowerColor unit - I didn't try anything older than 12.11 Beta 4 though..

The ATI Catalyst either doesn't detect the card type (custom install doesn't list the display driver) and thus doesn't load the display driver or if it does, my PC BSOD's as soon as Windows attempts to load....Tried the 13.1, 13.2 beta 5, the drivers from the included disk as well as the ones off PowerColor's website. Stuck my 6950 back in and installed the 13.1 with no issues... gonna have to try it in another PC.

When I was doing research on these cards several buyers mentioned that they needed updated motherboard BIOS in order for it to work properly. Might want to give that a shot as well before you give up on it.

Yeah... my motherboard has the latest bios on it. I had to update it recently for some other issues I was experiencing.
