Hi guys,
I'm looking for a good HARD gaming mouse pad.

Right now, I'm looking at the Steel Series 9HD. What do you guys think?

Thanks.

I have both the 9HD and the new Corsair MM400. The 9HD was the first ever mouse pad I was 100 % happy with (over S&S, QCK, SX, SP, Ratpadz, Corepad and I forget what else).
The Corsair has a rougher surface which makes my G700 (with Teflon feet) glide faster, but also seems to cause more feet wear. I slightly prefer the MM400, but have no problem recommending the 9HD.

I've not tried a selection but I'm happy with my Rocketfish. It's nice having both a rough and smooth side, tracks great with my G9x and Rat7.

I second the Corsair MM400. It seems to be the fastest pad you can get with good tracking.

I also use a G700. Since it is heavier mouse it helps to have a faster surface.

I have owned 3 Razer eXactMat's w/wrist rests and I can say I have enjoyed their use. They have a new one out that is similiar called the Vespula I think. It looks pretty close to the eCXactMats, but really most steel pads are created similiar, so most will work well for you. I can say that this eXactMat and the Razer Naga I use pair well together, so I have had no complaints here.

The Mionix Ensis 320 is aluminum and is supposed to be fantastic. $35 on sale at the egg at the moment.

I have a Razer Destructor mat. I like it. It doesn't raise my desk surface much and works great with my DA. I'm noticing a few pits in it though :( I've had it for about 4 years now.

I've been looking for a hard pad too. Leaning towards the Ratpadz because of the large number of positive reviews. From what I read, other pads either wear out in a few months or just destroy the mouse feet.

Using my Ratpadz I replace my G9x feet about once every 1-2 years. I use my mouse pretty lightly too so I can see a heavy handed mouse user going through feet every year or so.

ratpadz

wish you could still get the ones with the [H] logo

I prefer cloth pads with optical mice, but have tried a variety of had pads before I decided that laser mice were not for me (yet).

I liked the Razer Scarab best. It is not replaced by the destructor2 which is basically the same surface. The problem i had with it and most hard mouse mats is that it was too small. However, I liked the balance in grip and glide it provided. Among hard pads, it was the most pleasant that I have used.

I've used Destructor before and now I am using Scarab. The surface of Destructor was harder and "faster", however the shape was really awkward. That should be fixed with v2 though.

Scarab would be a good pad, but it hardly sticks to the desk, probably because the sides bend up and don't always touch the disk. This is a huge problem I have with Scarab. Otherwise, I find the surface better than on Destructor and the mouse glide on it nicely.

I've had a Ratpadz GS for around 10 years now. It wore down to smoothness in the middle (more used) a few times, so I've scored it up with a razor blade a few times since owning it, but otherwise it has been perfect and I've gotten a lot of use out of it. Personally, I couldn't care less that the product is affiliated with this site. But it is a good mouse pad either way.

Surprised no-one's mentioned the Corsair MM600 in this thread... I found it on their website but I can't pull up any reviews of it online. Looks like a nice aluminium pad...

ratpadz coated with lemon pledge once a week. just spray on and wipe off like a table.

I use teflon tape for this reason. New tape every few months + Pledge on the Ratpadz = one slick bastard.

i just got the corsair mm600 from the egg and love it, i was looking for a replacement for my ratpadz i had been using for many years and found it. Its not that I didnt like the ratpad, I just wanted to try something different.

I've been using a Razer Pro Solutions white hard pad for years - it's got a smooth and rough side.

Not sure if they even make it anymore - but it's been great for me. I'll have to look into a Ratzpadz if I wear mine out.

There are a whole bunch of viable options. I am not sure if there is one that is really objectively the best of the bunch.

Generally, people differ in the combination of glide and grip/control that they want.

It also depends on the sensor of your mouse. Some sensors do not work as well on multicolored mousepads. And sometimes the color of the mousepad can influence the lift off distance.

I like cloth mousepads, but from what I have tried, I really disliked the super smooth hard ones. I do like some of the more textured ones, for example the Scarab/ Destructor / Destructor 2 by Razer seems decent.

Have had my corepad for a really long time and it still looks and works like new since it made from glass :)

I use a Func 1030 at work and it is also a great pad. I prefer the smooth side, but I switch to the rough side every so often.

Love my Icemat v1. The Ratpadz is solid, but I'm not a huge fan of the rough textured feel under my wrist.

I have played on SS Experience 2 which is the hardest surface I have played on (Glass). It's a good mouse but is finicky with certain mice so do homework if you want to get one. Some gamers love it. I have also had good experience with Cyborg Aluminum Cyborg V.5 Gaming Surface which had the dual side surface.

My favorite pad right now is SteelSeries 9HD and it feels semi hard with a little cushion. Very comfortable and accurate mouse pad for me so far with Ikari Lazer mouse. Going to try a Logitech G400 on it soon.

I still have a Steelseries SX. Unless it stops working for some reason, I can't see myself ever switching away from it.

Used to love my original ratpad til it wore down, then my Func 1030 (prolly the best one I've used, but this Ratpad XT I'm using right now is working great also.

Not sure if there is such a thing as the best. Different people have different preferences regarding the balance of glide and control they like. Personally I like cloth pads. I have used hard pads, and the ones I really like are more on the grippy side of things. The Razer Scarab/ Destructor was nice.

Though I would still rather stick with my quick heavy.

I've been eyeing the MM600 to replace my PureTrak. Do you find yourself using both sides based speed/control needs and are you using a laser mouse?

What the hell? they make a white M60? sweet Jesus.

Whats the difference between the corsair mats?
It's actually the M65. It has an 8200DPI sensor and the white one has a hard plastic shell instead of the matte rubber-ish shell of the black version.

whats the point of 8200dpi? wouldnt that make your mouse move extremely fast? I have the m60 and I use it on the lowest default dpi setting.

I guess my reflexes and eyes just are much quicker than yours.
