Samsung 256GB 840 Pro SSD - $219.99

All these 840/840 Pro deals that keep popping up every week are sooo damn tempting. Might just have to bite on a pair of 256GB drives vs holding out for price drop on a single 500GB+.

Downside is, by late 2013 500GB-1TB ssds should be fairly affordable, and at that point I'm not sure I'd even wanna bother with 256GB ssds in our household's laptops, much less our desktop computers. For my long term needs, I'd even go so far as to prefer owning a pair of vanilla Samsung 840s in a 500GB capacity rather than 4x 256GB 840 Pros.

Not too shabby, at least finally a bit below $1/GB. I don't doubt that sub-$200 is in the semi-near future for the Pro.

This is what I needed. One of my Phoenix Pros just died and took out my RAID. I'll pick one of these up now and another later for raid again

Oh so damn tempting! If this goes below $200 anytime soon, I wont be able to hold back.

I have one of these and it's like riding a unicorn made of dreams and fast data transfer rates into an ocean of impossibilities and wonder.

Too bad that [H] is now hijacking Newegg links and redirecting them to Amazon.

Now that I know what I'm getting for tax refunds I'm going to keep a close eye on B&H for picking up two more SSDs shortly if they keep offering good deals.

As for the NewEgg thing, if they hadn't fucked Kyle over in the first place there'd be no need to redirect to Amazon.

I stopped giving NewEgg my business some time ago and haven't regretted it.

Yeah, it's bullshit.

Uh, really guys?

You can still go to Newegg, it just takes one extra click. I'd rather deal with the Amazon redirect page than not have it and things get tight for Kyle & Co. Or would you rather pay to visit this site? I'm sure we could get rid of the redirect page then.

He's not doing this to inconvenience you, he's doing it because Newegg fucked the [H]'s commission rates (now THAT is bullshit). This is merely an attempt to keep some of that revenue intact. And it's why I'm buying from Amazon all day every day unless Newegg has a drastically lower price on something. Dealing with the redirect page is a small price to pay. MUCH better than those god-awful mouseover text ads.

You'd think the banner ads would do it...

In the age of adblock, banner ads don't bring in shit for revenue.

People complaining about the redirect need to get over it. That is the very definition of first world problems "awwww mannnn i have to click my mouseeeeeeee? that's so fucking harddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd :'("

With the amount of useful (and useless information...but hey, its a forum) that I find here, I don't care about the redirect either.

I'd much rather have the redirect than ads on the top, AND left/right/bottom AND the stupid highlighting of keywords for instant popups that so many other sites do.

Yeah, with an 8 second countdown to hijack your click. This is some serious BS.

Wow... I didn't know you paid a monthly fee to access [H]'s articles and forums... I mean that's the only reason to be so butt-hurt about something so trivial....

Cut the guy some slack, for some people 8 seconds isn't enough time to figure out what's going on.

The link redirector frequently lags-out to the point that the countdown expires, and I'm sent to Amazon. It's really fucking annoying that I have to stop the page, and copy/paste the Newegg link into my browser's URL bar just to get to Newegg.

Never seen that... EVER! Unless I sit there like a dumbass for 8sec trying to figure out what's happening...

Never seen that. You might have other issues.

It would've been more acceptable for the default link to go to Newegg instead of auto-redirecting to Amazon unless a confirmation click was applied. I don't mean to make it sound like a complained, more like a critique, I suppose.
