Hi all, I have bought my PS3 at launch for $600 (60gb version) and I have rarely used my console since then. I have played numerous games from time to time when they came out such as GTA 4 and MGS 4. PS3 exclusive titles at the time when they came out. I enjoy pc gaming moreso than console gaming for the most part.

I used to play with my brother back when I was in college with some downloadable games such as bomberman/pixel junk games/etc. Now I moved over 400 miles away with my girlfriend and have only played it twice since July. (Once with my GF who isn't a gamer at all and once when my family came to visit)

The only game I am looking forward to on my ps3 is GTA 5 and I only plan on using my PS3 when I visit for the holidays for a week or 2. Now I put up my PS3 and accessories and sold my 2 controllers and PS3 in less than a day of listing them on Amazon for ~$275.

Wondering if I should just get rid of it since I don't play it too much. I just don't want to regret giving it up too quickly before new consoles come out.

Another thing...
Now I have all of these games tied to my PSN account I bought. Would I lose them if I sold my PS3 or are they linked to my PSN account and I can redownload them later on if I buy another PS3 down the road (or potentially transfer to PS4?)

I must be high, but you just stated that you put up your PS3 and Accessories on amazon, and they SOLD. Now you're wondering if you SHOULD sell it? I'm not understanding I think...

Also yes, you do keep the stuff you bought, you'll have to redownload though.

IMO, just keep it. Unless you're in need of extra spending cash, just keep the sucker. Like you said, GTA V is around the corner (presumably).

Yeah I'm not getting what you're saying about having sold and then not sold your PS3?

Also, what is up with all these "PS3 maybe" threads lately?

If its tied to your account you can sell your PS3. People couldn't replace their PS3's if that was the trade off.

Other than that I don't know what to tell you. If you can't find games you want to play on your PS3 no reason to keep it. I lived for about 6 years without a console until this year so there's tons of games I want to play. admittedly I couldn;t anything I wanted to play until I got a PN+ account. It started off with getting it for HOTD collection but while getting invested in that I found tons of games I wanted by flipping through PN+.

Right now I'm mainly playing Payday:The heist(though sadly console gamers suck at this game.), Outland, ICO, Shadow of the colossus, Devil may Cry HD and just last night I scored the silent hill collection for $10 on clearance at target. I've seen and heard its a poor version even after patching but $10 is a steal.

I can find plenty games. Maybe try stepping out and trying a few games. A lot of PS3 exclusives coming next year. If you liked MGS 4, two more are coming in 2014, MGS5 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

If you sold the PS3 on Amazon, it's gone. Don't fuck someone else over and keep it now.

No, all the games are on your account. You just go onto the next unit, sign in and download whatever.

If you want to save some time, you can also do a disk image (youll need a big enough FAT partitioned drive) and then put this on the new console. It will transfer your saves/files/everything. It's a pretty simple process (other than the FAT disk, but there are tools for this).

Don't forget there's other things to do with the PS3 besides just gaming. Streaming files to the HDTV in your living room/bedroom from a Windows Media Server, Netflix, apps, Blu-Ray, and so on. I sold my launch 60GB back in 2010 thinking I never wanted a console again because I couldn't find time to game on both PC and PS3. But lately I found I really could make use of all the features the PS3 has, so I picked up a Black Friday 250GB bundle a few days ago and it's been a blast these past few days.

Just make sure you format and remove personal information from the PS3 before sending it out. You should deactivate your content from the PS3 as well, but I believe this could be done online.

Do you have another Blu-Ray player? Not that big of a deal since they're cheaper now...but you're still probably looking at $100 for a good stand-alone one or $35 for a PC one + $50 for software.
You can view streaming services on almost anything, but Blu-Ray players still aren't all that common.

This. Keep it you'll find that there's so much you can do other than play games on it. I found myself using it as a music player also and a web browser when friends are over and we wanna just watch youtube clips in the living room.

What kind of games are you into? You're missing out on a ton of amazing PS3 only titles and console exclusives by getting rid of your PS3. Have you played Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption, Infamous, MGS4, Shadow/ICO, Gods of War, and the many other titles? You're going to be missing out on a lot of really good titles being released on 2013 like The Last of Us, Heavy Rain "Sequel", Two MGS games, and many more epics........

Played heavy rain, MGS4, RDR, Infamous (only got into it for 30 minutes so far)

No GoW series.

I decided to keep it. Thanks for the input guys. GF was actually slightly dissapointed when I told her I was selling it and we only just recently played a couple of casual downloadable games together so its a start haha.
