Planning on getting i5 3570k will OC but not looking for huge numbers 4.4Ghz would be nice. Im also going for power consumption which is why I choose this over the 2500k

1st question is I have Xiggy S1283 and would like to still use it as long as it can get me close to that 4.4ghz. Is the Hyper 212 Evo that much better. BTW I know about the cooler fitment issues different 775.

2nd I think I'm set on the Asrock Z77extreme4 I see it will even fit my 775 cooler, but love my ep45-UD3P and think gigabyte has more support for bios's and such, so the z77x-ud3h was my other choice but it seems that people have issues with usb ports. Which do you think?

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if you can still find the mounting brackets for the 1155 for the S1283, you would have to do some digging around or call the manufacturer.

I have the UD3H motherboard but am not experiencing any USB issues. I have a USB mouse, keyboard and a printer coming from the back. I plug my tablet and flash drives on the external header with no issues.

For the price of the Evo, it's the best bang for the buck and can easily handle 4.4Ghz with ease.

1) I think your current cooler would be OK
2) ud3.. I have read about endless boot-looping..but people seem to like it

Thanks for the reply, I know the Asrock board has extra holes for 775 mounting. I have the ack crossbow mount which IIRC is for 775 only. I did find the 1155 mount for it still avail on newegg well unless its only for the newer xig coolers?.

How do you like your board? hows the audio?

When I went to my current ud3p I got rid of my creative sound card that I only used on my DFI board b/c the DFI module wouldnt clear my case. I'm not a huge audiphile so either should be fine

Also the boot looping is something I'm firmiliar with on my current ud3p when OC'ing and its not stable or doesnt like one of the settings.

1) The Hyper 212 Evo cools 6% better than the Xigmatek S1283. Yes you will need to buy that LGA 1155 bracket for your Xigmatek
2) I'd stick with Asus since their UEFI is better than Gigabyte. With that said, the UD3H is an ok mobo. Even with the USB issues, I'd still recommend it over an AsRock.

I'm a big fan of the S1283. I had my C1 q9550 overclocked at 3.8 @ 1.35v since 2008 and still going with the same mount. Keep it as it will do fine at 4.4. Also I have the extreme4 and its a great motherboard with great features and an even better price. At 4.4 you will not find a hitch, you may even not need a bump in voltage from stock.

S1283 + extreme4 have my votes.

Well So far I dont think the S1283 is up to the task of 4.4 for daily at least with a single fan(loud 120mmx38mm). Ran at near 80 C at 4.2Ghz after 6hrs of OCCT with -.06v vcore also lowered a few other voltages. I'm wondering how much the offset mounting is effecting temps?

The Asrock board is nice and I picked up a pair of Samsung 830 ssd's and have them in Raid 0(not much difference from single drive)

EDIT: well not sure what the reason it crashed prime before, but I was messing around since it seemed to be getting hot playing BF3 which I understand is a higher cpu demand. Well It wasnt the voltages that caused the crash so I dropped them in offset down to -.125v vcore with load level 3 which dropped my temps, also lowered some other voltages to get is respectable and I havent found the lower limit so I think 4.4ghz is reachable staying under 80c on this S1283

I was thinking that the crooked mounting of this 775 cooler on this board was causing higher temps but now its good
