In proud Motorola fashion, support for the Atrix 4G, Electrify & Photon 4G is being suddenly dropped and neither of the phones are going to be upgraded to ICS, even if these phones could easily run ICS (see any root kits). Weather this is Motorola’s or nvidia’s fault doesn’t really matter I guess, just sad.

My next upgrade will most definately NOT be motorola or nvidia, but still... Doesn't bode well for owners of other phones on motorola's product line......

Ouch was really hoping the atrix would get it...

I very nearly picked up an Atrix 4G when I finally upgraded from my old Tilt2. Hardware wise they are easily a match for ICS and more. Lucky for me I found a black friday deal and went Galaxy S2 instead.

This is typical for Android - zero control by Google. Its the kind of nonsense that drives more people to the competition.

At least they know they aren't getting it instead of being strung along like us Bionic users have been for months. I have felt screwed ever since the RAZR was released not long after my Bionic. When I get fucked over by a company it happens one time, and one time only. Moto has definitely burned a bridge with me, possibly Verizon as well.

yes the bane of Android....if there is one thing they should learn from apple would be this

I was really hoping that Google ownership of moto would change this

I also remember how annoyed i was when Samsung claimed the galaxy S could not run ICS when the absolutely identical nexus S can run it just fine.

Actually, Google owns Moto and this decision ultimately came down to a Google exec running Moto

I like my Atrix 4G, but its the last motorola phone I'll buy. Its running CM7 (all of the ICS ROMs I tried were just a little to flakey) Looking at Samsung when this phone dies.

Jelly Bean on my Asus Transformer is awesome, need some of that on my phone.

I love my atrix, this decision doesn't terribly upset me as I have said before that I think google should be a but more selective with their hardware support.

I'm not done at all with moto, I have enjoyed their hardware all the way back to the original cable modem through to the atrix and haven't had a problem. Call it blind loyalty our what ever but the phone has had good support thus far and more importantly it hadn't broke.

No CM9/10 for the Atrix? My sister is actually clinging to hers until next year and she wants to root it, I was hoping there was a stable ICS ROM for it already, hrm.

What are you running on the TF? I guess I need to get off my butt and find a JB ROM for it too, since I think ASUS is only updating the Tegra 3 models to JB... I'd been content running the stock build rooted tho, only rooted it to begin with to sync game save files with my phone... ASUS tablets ship so close to stock that I really haven't found many other reasons to run it rooted.

They maintain that it's operated as an individual company... I'm not sure why it matters whose call it was anyway, ultimately it's a financial and resource allocation decision, as with every other phone.

I'm done with Moto as far as phones go anyways. Their support sucks, my first droid phones were the OG then the X2 and they were nothing special.

Ironically, Moto's newer phones are actually running software builds closer to stock Android than any other manufacturer's. If I was on Verizon I'd totally buy the new RAZR... They're also the only manufacturer committed to building compact phones with significantly larger batteries.

They just need to stop making so many carrier specific models, that hurts long term update support as much as anything and they're the worst in that regard. Probably a big factor in their poor sales.

I won't hold it against them if they have to cut the cord on support for a bunch of older phones in order to turn the ship around, but Google should probably invest a bit more in order to provide them enough resources to avoid that. They're losing money regardless...

There are no offiicial CM9/10 ROMS for the Atrix 4G, only ports. I JUST flashed another CM10 based ROM last night and so far I'm ok with it, Its the XenonHD port. Stock video camera doesnt work, but you can use an app.

On my Transformer (TF300) I have stock OTA update to JB
