Anything within the realm of PC gaming.

I always think it's incredibly fun in co-op games when you find yourself joined with a good team with members that all know exactly what to do. Throw in some good banter among all the players, and that becomes the ideal multi-player experience.

The cost of entrance. I find it satisfying knowing that stream of obsenitys is a grown person and not console kiddies. Also grew up poor in the early 90's couldn't afford Internet or a PC. Used to pray a PC game would be ported to PS so I could play it.

Settings and options.

I guess you wouldn't be here if you didn't like to tinker with game settings to some degree. I know I get a kick out of modifying config files to get more out of a game (though games like RAGE & Skyrim don't have as much of a cut & dry approach to making it work well).

What I love?
1) First Person Shooters (single player, no multiplayer for me).
2) The ability to build my system how I see fit.
3) Finding tweaks and mods (for games that support it) to improve gameplay.
4) The ability to download and install patches only if I feel I need to.
(thanks for breaking my Skyrim install Steam )

Above everything else it's because the PC offers the highest quality gaming experience, it takes the most amount of money, knowledge, effort and time, but it offers an experience that you simple cannot achieve on any other platform.

Gaming in 2560x1600 at 60fps, or 1920x1080 at 120fps are both unbeatable, 3D @ 60hz is really quite awesome as well, all at max settings with AA and AF cranked up, it looks beautiful. A top of the line PC is now easily over 20x faster than the closest competitor and the final quality of the experience reflects that.

I like the fact that I'm closer to my screen (though it's obviously not doing me much good), that I have an accurate tool to play the game with (Mouse) and that I get to communicate easily via Keyboard when there isn't any VOIP available (less of an issue these days). On top of that, the VOIP options are much better. I like downsizing and being able to quickly turn on some music, or quickly be able to surf the web.

Properly adminned dedicated servers with a community of regulars.

I can't live without KB/mouse controls for fps games. Sure there is the xim360 or other controller mouse emulators, but I don't think they are the same.

I love that I have full power over my own experience. As a person who enjoys tweaking things and playing with things, the potential of the pc is basically limitless.

Just last night I was sitting in a recliner chair with an xbox controller playing skyrim on my HDTV and enormous stereo system. It was, naturally, the PC version - modded, too. Before that, Touhou with my keyboard, and before that, Final Fantasy 7 on a PSX emulator. And I have my own mumble server just running silently in the background. And I use my smartphone to control my media players on my PC, so it's very easy to just sit relaxed at a distance and watch movies or enjoy music with my pc on the other side of the room.

It's truly a "do everything" machine. I'm happy to make the investment of time & money & upfront effort to get things just right, just to my liking. And then I create for myself the most fantastic home theater, gaming, multimedia experience possible with current consumer technology. That's what PC gaming is to me -- the best of every single world in a single device, ready to be taken by anyone with the guts to actually try for it. All of the money and effort is the barrier to entry - but I pass through it gladly.

Control kb/ms, customization of the game play through mods, ini's etc. I can't tell you how many times I have talked to people that play a game that is on both systems get jealous because of all the modding and customization that I can do with my version.
I know this is only a matter of time but being able to just buy the game online and not have to go to a store locally to get it. I know it is not much cheaper, sometimes, but it is a lot more convenient.

• Being able to design, build and tweak my own rig.
• Best possible graphics
• Best possible control with keyboard/mouse
• More immersing since you're closer to the screen and controlling with KB/mouse

Being part of a superior demographic :D

Higher resolutions and better framerates. Control options. Games that are installed so I don't have to worry about disks.
Plus, my PC is pretty much an all-in-one device. In addition to games, I use MS Office, Adobe CS, and various media playing features.

Pretty much sums it up and a good CO-OP here and there is nice too.

Better controls, modding/customization etc.

Some games, like super mario, may play better on a console, while games, like a MMO play better on a computer.

I used to love the complexity of the games but those days are long gone PC is getting closer to being a console all the time.

Hear Hear :)

I enjoyed my 2560x1600 gaming for many years, recently I'm enjoying slightly more modest 1920x1080 but at 120hz which is super smooth, and offers a fantastic 3D experience.

Even if you're a console gamer and absolutely must play on the sofa in the living room with a controller on a TV, you can totally do that. I have my PC plugged in to my 122" projector screen and audio reciever in the living room, using a wireless PS3 controller and wireless mouse I can game from the sofa. But obviously something like Skyrim maxed out in proper 1080p with ini tweaks applied to up draw distances and in AA and AF, loading from a SSD and getting a smooth 60fps+ is just blows the consoles out of the water.

Especially when you can play the same game on the PS3 and see the differences side by side on such a large screen, it really makes the quality of the consoles not just seem bad, but laughably pathetic.

The memories of how it used to be.

This :( being a gamer that started gaming in the early 90s I can see where PC gaming has been and where it is going. I guess it's all a part of getting older though but I just don't see PC gaming being the same thing to today's generation as it was to mine.

Keyboard + Mouse

I don't know if anyone remembers this but MS was originally building LIVE to be able too match up against PC players. You know, half the people on your CoD match would be on their xbox, other on PCs. Turned out in like 98% of the tests, PC gamers DESTROYED console games. Not even close. Controls were the culprit.

After thinking about this more...

- Customization (configs & mods)
- Community support (custom patches & mods)
- High display resolutions
- Multiple controls (KB/M & wireless 360 controller)
- Large library of games (from old to new as well as emulation)
- Highly upgradeable platform (w/ capacity for modding & OC)

I'm old and all the low res textures of console really hurt my eyes. Thats the main thing. I play at1920x1200 with highest settings on the textures otherwise it kills my eyes.

other than that I'm not picky. I don't have any real hate for consoles beyond that.

Dedicated servers and communities. I really dig having the ability to hangout with my online friends in and out of game while I'm multitasking on my PC.

PC gaming let's me max out (or at least comes close) my rig. That's all I care.

Modding is the biggest factor for me. It allows me to customize a game to my liking (some may call it cheating, like 100x carry weight in Skyrim :D ). Others helps improve or revamp the game and giving lots replay value.

This is why I hate it when a game doesn't support modding, especially if its a single player game.

As for the game I like a very skill based type of game. Less luck involved. I also like the ability to mod my games if I wish. This is one reason why I like to stay away from consoles. Though I dislike the amount of cheats that are around for multiplayer games.

Keyboard &Mouse.
Alt+Tab so i can look something up on internet when im stuck or lost in the game.

I like the ability to play old games on a new system if I choose to revisit them. I can't quite do that on most consoles, because they change formats or architecture on you. And a lot of the time, there will be an official (or fan made) texture upgrade for a particular game/engine, that makes it a somewhat new experience. Things like V:TM Bloodlines with all of the fan support/bug fixes after the developer went under, really makes PC gaming shine.
