The Fireworks Laws In All 50 States

As a kid I remember driving to NC with my mom to buy FW........So fun. Nowadays its just easier to take my kids to downtown to watch things explode.

In Arizona they use to all be illegal, coming from California it was very weird to me but its because there is so much dead and dry plants in the desert fires start easily. Well now some genius made them legal like 2 years back I think. I really hate little fireworks, pointless things. But I do like the huge ones in the air.

Funny. In NC we always had to drive to SC to buy actual, blow your hands off, fireworks.

I thought that's what we were all talking about? For the most part, fireworks you buy at the little stands are kind of crappy. Roman candles are sort of fun though. I'm looking forward to the big fireworks show downtown on the 4th. :D

We always have a decent aerial show downtown, so the fact that us peasants can't use aerial fireworks never bothered me...

I would normally just go out and shoot instead (not into the sky, that's typically reserved for the "undocumented worker" section of town), but I'm going this weekend, so I'll do something more productive, like reloading :D

I sure wish they would ban that crap in the state of KS.

Freaking waste of money and time..

So many haters. Even my grandfather loves to light up a couple of mortars and watch them spray over the night sky. Love Florida, the don't give a shit cause it's hot as fuck state.

That map isnt right... I recently drove thro PA and stopped at phantom fireworks, upon entering you have to sign a form stating you will not light off fire works in the commonwealth of PA and will transport them out of PA..

But on that map it says PA is fine with most or all.. :\

That map isn't accurate. MN only allows the shitty fireworks (sparklers, fountains, nothing that explodes).

Only fountains and sparklers allowed here in GA... Had to drive up to TN for bottle rockets, and mortars.

Well the state I live in has just about any type legal, even the really really big stuff that you can hook up serial cables with special ignition systems. Its also really hot and unusually dry here, so the smart local authorities are leaving it up to the people to be responsible with their pyro shows...lol leaving the people responsible...wow...

My state, CO, just banned the use of fireworks. You can still buy them, but it is illegal to set them off. We are in a severe fire danger scenario and it just is not worth the cost of a potential fire to watch fireworks. Most of the larger displays are canceled as well. We can't prevent the naturally occurring fires from lightning, the least we can do is not contribute to them via something we can control. I was pretty disappointed that they canceled The School of Mines E days fireworks display in late April / early May, but I understood why. E days fireworks displays are 10 times better than any 4th display anyway, so since I missed it I don't really care to watch the 4th displays. To me it just isn't worth the potential cost from a fire.

It took me 27 years to finally get injured from fireworks and that was merely a first-degree burn on my finger

some of those fireworks names sound like sex toys.
torpedoes, sparklers, chasers.....

Consumer grade.... Kind of lame.

You expecting a distributor to sell you professional grade 1.3g fireworks that could blow you away like a grenade?

Also I like being able to set off fireworks, because I get enough mortars and tubes to make my own show. Fuse up 100 roman candles with reports, couple of cakes, some rockets, and then at the end 12 excal shells for the finale. Looks crazy when it's right in your own neighborhood haha :D.

No fireworks for my area this year. With as dry as it's been a spark in an unwatered lawn would cause one hell of a fire. My girlfriends parents has a fire in their back yard just yesterday that burned up their deck. Probably from some idiot setting off fireworks when it's way too dry. The only towns in my area having fireworks displays are the one's who are along the river and can shoot them off of barges.

With as much as is allowed in Colorado, I would ask that people please not light fireworks of any kind here. I'd rather not have the state burn down.

Besides, if Boulder burns, half the country would get high, and that's something we don't need.

It's actually rained a bit in my area recently. Not so much last year but that didn't stop anyone from setting off fireworks anyway.

Live in Ohio, close to Michigan, where there banned for the most part.
BUT, the law isn't really enforced here, it's a joke.

I'm in favor of making them legal here, but I'm also sick of cleaning up my neighbors
debris on July 5th every year, that lands in my yard.

Take some responsibility , give a little respect to your neighbors and do it
at reasonable hours. Then I'm all for it, otherwise I will push your trash back
into you own yard and you will see me in your face.

I have no plans to shoot off fireworks, but I do have plans to grill food.

Rules of fireworks: The people that are of 18 years and older that are still entertained by fireworks are often the last people that should be allowed to purchase them.

really? haters going to hate here? sorry but when I get a chance I love setting up a display for a party. the more cannons I rig the better :D

And it's always fun when a friend comes up bragging "hey check out his mortar pack I got, bet it's better than yours" then you haul out a 30 shot rack of 1.75" shells and watch their face go from :p to .

Threads like this always bring out the morally superior "guns and explosives are bad and only for the gubmint, you'll shoot your eye out" types.

On july 5th check your local news and see how many dumb ******* have blown off there
hands.

It's always more then one, and sometimes many more.

No big deal. It's natures defense against overpopulation.

Uh, maybe I didn't pay attention during anatomy. Got my parts mixed up

You didn't miss much. It's not like you can't download instructional videos from the Intertubes to get completely unrealistic ideas about how that whole birds and bees thing works. Then again, you could also pick up any book Danielle Steele's written which all seem to contain the words "throbbing" and "pulsating" in them. Talk about setting teenagers up for failure!

I can understand not celebrating our independence with fireworks if you have a risk of burning your state down, but when did people become so unpatriotic? I know, I know our country isn’t what it used to be but we should honor our forefathers that fought to give us the chance to ruin it. It’s all about the rockets’ red glare!

The only situation where I dislike fireworks is when little pricks set off ones that do nothing but create a ridiculously loud percussive blast. Especially when it's not the fourth. Especially when it's in the alley way behind the apartment complex I live in. Especially when it's nearly midnight. Fuck those people.
