Asus GTX 680 DirectCU II

I had to take it down 150mhz on the core to get it stable.

Is this the TOP Edition? Kinda shitty cause the TOP edition is supposedly a bind chipped and the best of the best. Probably just smoke up our asses ha. Try moving the power slider to the max at stock clocks and see if that helps.

Well i called Asus support today and got some idiot of course.

He tells me that i should send it back to the vendor and i was like why would i do that.

Finally he tells me that if i send it to them it would be 14 business days and they are going to repair it.

He obviously didn't understand the problem, this plus the limited stock means i am probably going to keep this at least for a while because i don't want to be without a card.

Yes it is the TOP edition.

What is this power slider i saw that but i though voltages were locked on this thing.

I shouldn't have to do that to get this thing to run stock clocks right?

I was hoping to not have to install any overclock software at all.

Well i just tried upping the power slider with no the same results, display driver crashes after a couple of minutes.

Power isn't even reaching 100% since i have vsync on it stays around 88% and the card still cant handle it at stock TOP clocks.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Temps are around 62 when the driver crashes.

Rightfully you should not have to install any software to change the clock speed or anything. It should work right out of the box. The only thing you need is the latest driver.

Temp is normal. Mine had gone up to 70c without any crashing.

Is the TOP limited to 1.17V like the reference cards or did it get a small bump?

Nope, max voltage is still 1.175v

Yeah it deff needs an rma I was just thinking bumping up the power might help till you got a new one. I would keep calling till you get someone that's knows what they are doing. Call on a weekday during normal business hours. Explain to them as well that the issue is preventing you from using your computer and that you really need to use it.
This should help expedite the process hopefully. Tell them you don't want it repaired either. It needs a whole new chip. You paid money for a new card that's what you should get.

The classified can be voltage modded, so can the DC2. The dc2 can ONLY adjust voltage if you have a maximus motherboard (you must hardwire and solder it to a connector on the mobo I believe), and the classified EVGA card requires EV BOT! These are the only confirmed cards where you can adjust max voltage.

Incorrect. As I said I would do earlier in this thread, I modded my DC2. You need a Rampage Extreme, not a Maximus, by the way, if you want to take advantage of easy VGA Hotwire.

If, like me, you're not going to buy a SB-E board and CPU just to overclock  all you need is some wire, a 10K ohm variable resistor/trimmer/pot/whatever you call it, a multimeter, and a steady soldering hand. I'll post info on what I did tomorrow, but this is easily the fastest and cleanest Vmod I've ever done.

I'm seriously thinking of selling my Gigabyte Windforce 680 for one of these. Anybody think its worth it or am I just crazy?

I would love to as well, but the bottom fell out of the 680 market because people are settling on 670s. Don't think it will be easy to sell your 680, unless you don't mind taking a loss.

Really interested in see this and your overclocking results afterward.

Hey guys, I just got my non-TOP version of this card installed. It looks great and performs awesome.

When my card fans spin up to 40% or so I can definitely hear them. It's not a whine more of a lower pitched drone. I used the 580 version of this card before and it was virtually silent and most of the reviews rave about the silent operation of the 680 version. Does anyone else experience this noise around 40-50% fan speed?

Just cranked mine up to 50% fan and I mean you can certainly hear but its reasonably quite. Nothing that I would say is abnormal, just fan noise. Crank it up more and see if the drone goes away.

Thanks for your reply. I guess it's just the ambient temp in my room causing the fans to work harder.

Is there any major difference over the non-TOP version over the TOP version? For $20 more, I see no reason to get the non-top version. I guess you’re getting a (slightly) better GPU for $20 more.

It's complete luck of the draw whether you get a better clocking GPU buying the TOP version instead of the OC model. If I needed a GPU now I wouldn't likely wait to try and get a TOP when the OC is in stock right now for $10-$20 less.

I have GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr and I’d kind of like a GTX 680 in SLI to play Battlefield 3 at 2560x1600 with all the eye candy. Probably by the time I decide it’ll be out of stock. I was going to buy two earlier this afternoon, but held off.

I guess I can wait, it's not like I don't have a video card. I'm sort surprised that they aren't out of stock already.

Stll waiting to see your mod! My TOP will be here on Thursday..... damn holiday.

I got a random red screen a minute ago, no text just pure red.. I know this happened on the 680's for some reason..

not a good sign. ughhh lol

Obviously something to do with kepler and it's a hit and miss thing.. All I can say is it's very irritating and makes me hate Nvidia.

That is me, Just as I clicked restart I got a red screen, after I reset my system the metro problem was gone... I don't get it, been playing games for hours all day, temps are fine etc. Only had two red screens so far, one when Exiting Red orchestra 2, the other when restarting.

I hope it's a driver issue.
