Best Non-Cloth Mouse Surface

I'm noticing my Mionix Propus 380 gunks up with Hand-Debris pretty quickly. This translates to my mouse teflon pads gunking up also. I might try out the teflon kit from Mionix one day. I don't really care for the rounded, uneven pads that logitech put on the G500.

I just received an Icemat 2 I bought from eBay. I forgot how nice it was since shattering my old one about 2 years ago. It's much smoother than any other pad I've used. :)

I just picked up an Allsop Accutrack Slimline at officedepot for $10, and this thing is amazing, 12"x12" and it's .03" thick, really impressed. Didn't know how much of a difference these slick pads make.

Bought the smaller one today on a whim to try it out... A lot of them at the store were warped tho and I dunno how easy it is bend back into shape, packaging was fine, they just stacked them wrong or something at one point. I'll compare it to my fUnc 1030 later. It's definitely thinner tho (even without the latter's rubber mat base), despite the fact that it claims to have a no slip backing.

Edit: If you like easy glide pads you'd love this thing, my mouse slides across it significantly easier than my used fUnc... I'll compare it to a new one I got stashed later and see how it tracks. It definitely has the same sorta grain so little surface area = little friction. It's got some sorta honeycomb + sparkly pattern to it, dunno how good/bad that is with a laser mouse. The honeycomb was barely visible on the grey one (I got black).

Edit #2: The back comes with a film you peel off and underneath it has these sorta sticky micro beads, dunno how long they'd last, but it does indeed grip well if you got a flat pad. I'm surprised given how paper thin it is...

I used to be a hardcore, slick hardpad user. I eventually realized that I get more consistent glide and feel off of cloth pads. Hard pads degrade quickly, you get one piece of dirt under your feet and it leaves a scratch and the glide is never the same, they are loud and scratchy when new, sticky and gunky when old. I've been using this QcK+ for well over a year with no problem. Hard pads past 6 months lose their texture and get that sticky mirror finish and feel like shit.

You really do have to choose your hard pad carefully. If you want long lasting that will never scratch, glass is the way to go :) My IceMat is still in perfect condition after 8 years of use.

I don't mind replacing a hard pad every year or two... I was never a fan of cloth mats but I haven't tried a more recent one like the Qck to see if it glides any smoother than the cheap ones I had more than a decade ago.

The only problem that I have with the ratpadz is that I wore mine out in a little less then a year with my MX518. Heavy D2 and CS player. It was so bad that my old cloth pad was faster. =(

-1 ratpadz =\
