It looks like someone has jumped the NDA gun and released a boatload of benchmarks for the GeForce GTX 680 2GB. Obviously we can't comment on any of the info you see here, nor can we vouch for the validity of this information but these numbers will certainly have everyone in the forums buzzing. With that said, we do expect this card to come in around the $500 MSRP mark which, if this info is close to being correct, will make things in the graphics card market VERY interesting.

Very nice, now if only the [H] benchmarks would get leaked *COUGH*.

Weird. I'm seeing $550 MSRP from 2 of the biggest hardware resellers in the US. To me it's looking like apples to apples on the pricing scheme, if these hardware leaks are true it's going to come down to overclockability and GPU temps on the 680. The 7970 already has a visible edge (from these photos) in the 1600p department. If the 680's run hot like the previous generation cards, and have less headroom to OC, I see the nvidia card coming in better to 1080p and lower res gamers, and multi-monitor and 1440p and higher gamers sticking to the AMD side.

Lookin' mighty good. Many thanks to the leaker. ;)

Unless I'm reading incorrectly, the 680 > 7970 in 3 of the 4 games tested at 2560x1600. Good news to 30" LCD owners... like me.

Prob launch at $549.99 then slowly fall down to $499.99 once supply evens out. Let the early birds catch the expensive worm while the late ones sit back and get the cheap ones.

When the NDA lift again? they should just send email to everyone.. everybody knows now LOL :)

So, what these graphs are saying, is don't bother going out and splurging on the newest tech, find your self an ATi 6990 4Gb card, for the best performance TODAY!

I really wish the 6990's were in stock 6 months ago, I would've bought one in a heart beat. But now it just doesn't seem worth it to buy old tech.

Not enough to sell my 7970s BUT if I was purchasing new today, I'd definitely go for the 680.

I would only imagine Nvidia would drop it's price if AMD did so first. If these photos are true then Nvidia is obviously targeting the mid-market segment (when I say mid-market I'm referring to display size, 1080p and lower) and the AMD niche will be Eyefinity and 1440-1600p users. Nvidia knows that the 7990 and 6GB 7970's are right around the corner, these cards are going to absolutely take all of the upfront sales for Eyefinity and higher res gamers who have been holding off or those like myself who already have a 7970 and are waiting for 6GB cards to upgrade.

Metro is ok but Frontline? I don't even know that game still worked lol.

Not to be a buzz-killer.. But i kind of expected 10-20% more out of the 680.. :(

Yea, those leaked performance expectations of "10-20%" faster was bs after all. Either way looks like a killer card at 1080p.

Maybe someone can enlighten me as to how this "trounces" the 7970? If I'm reading these graphs right, it looks like they trade blows....

Too bad this won't be at 400 or less, looks to be sick for my resolution.

I think [H] runs too tight a ship for that to ever happen, unlike some other sites it would seem.

$550 CDN and under and I'm back to team green. Now just to find stock locally here in the great white north...

It's what I expected. Slightly faster then the 7970 in some things and decently faster at others. Nothing Earth shattering though.

Will debut higher then the $500 MSRP as normal. 7970 prices will drop. Then AMD will release something faster. 7970 and 680 prices will drop. And so on and so forth. Gee...haven't we heard this one before? ;)

This is my sad face :(

Not impressed, especially after all the hype. If nv had something faster, they should have released it or at least cut amd off at the knees with their pricing. I'll be holding onto my 6970's for a while longer it looks like.

This card is definitely faster almost besting a 6990 . And the price is in line with a 7970 or better, some people like nvidia drivers better, runs cooler, etc. Then you factor in overclockability which isn't determined yet, but based on the graphs a decent overclock on the 680 should put it in line if not even with a 6990 from AMD.

I'll be getting one of these asap if they launch at $500. Also don't assume multi-monitor people are sticking with AMD. I left them last gen because of the stupid screen tearing and I'm staying away from them because they haven't bothered to fix it. I'll give up a few frames here and there any day of the week so that one of my monitors doesn't look like crap.

Adaptive Vsync. :)

If you are on the nvidia bandwagon and due for a major upgrade, it looks to be worth it. If you are someone who likes to have the best out there, with 6GB 7970's and the 7990 looming right around the corner, this thing isn't going to be wearing a crown for very long at all.

You don't know that and you're speculating, we don't know who will eventually wear the crown longest. The card (680) is damn near a 6990 mutli gpu as is, with overclocking it may pull even. Then you can factor in better cooling and what have you and it will get very interesting.

I'm assuming that some will, and if they are waiting for Nvidia, the 4GB card is likely the one they are waiting for. I highly doubt this 2GB card is going to maintain a decent framerate with multi-monitor setups. It's a shame the Tom's leaked photos had nothing to show when it comes to Eyefinity and overclockability. Time will tell, though.

Hmm those MSAA results make think that either there's some massive improvements that need to be made on the driver department side, or that smaller bus is hurting the potential of the chip.

I'd say more along the lines of drivers, though none of us know for sure. Remember, the 480 / 580 started really pulling away with later drivers.

Yeah, going by Tom's results the GTX680 might actually provide a smoother experience than a GTX590 which it performed very closely to but has more vram and less microstutter.

I hope that those results are accurate. At the end of the day it is Tom's. Those could be the Nvidia approved benchmarks. You've got to remember that they were one of the selected sites to get a GTS 250 review sample.

can't wait to sell my 470's for this

I've got a couple of old 460's in SLI that would love a nice easy retirement as a PhysX card so I could pop a 680 in this machine as the primary card.

Do I need to? Not really. The 460's run 2560x1440 pretty damn well for what they are, and I'm out of work still, but I've got that good old "upgrade itch".

I like what I see in the 680 myself. If it OC's well and stays pretty cool while doing so, I'll be content.

We have 2560 and 5760 coverage coming your way. Not the same story as 1080P.

w00t and this is why we love coming here for our Video card reviews!!

It always cracks me up to see reviews of a $550 video card running on a 22" 1680x1050 $90 display. Long live HardOCP!!

*looks at Dirt 3 benchmark*

The ffffffffffffuck?

80FPS for a 7970 at 1920x1080? On ultra and 4xMSAA?

I'm getting OVER 105FPS at those settings with my 7970

WTF is going on here?

EDIT: I am comparing them with every other review site on the web, the scores they are getting, vs the scores other sites are getting with 7970

All of Tom's scores are -WAY- under for the 7970, and -WAY- inflated for Nvidia's line

I think this may just be trolling benchmarks put out by somebody to try and draw attention away from AMD

With more people in the community getting these korean IPS monitors on the cheap, we're going to have to rely on the 2560 x 1440(1600) benchmark numbers more than 1080p. It looks like the 7970 and 680 are pretty much neck and neck at those resolutions. Waiting for SLI results too.

More people as in how many? I don't have a Korean IPS monitor. In fact I'd be a betting man that most people in this world right now have a TN panel monitor. Sad but true. Until like millions have a korean IPS monitor, it's a minority.
