EA posted the following on their facebook:
“There are a lot of people asking about a new C&C game. The only think we can say at the moment is: Yes, there is a Command & Conquer PC game in development. No other official details are available yet!”

If Command and Conquer 4 and Red Alert 3 had never happened I would be excited. But alas they did and I can't say I like the direction they took those games. So unless this new game is Renegade 2 or whatever they were calling the other cancelled fps I just don't care. But I'm guessing it will be Generals 2.

Considering the general trend in gaming at the moment, it'll probably be a "realistic" FPS set in the C&C universe.

WTF is people's problem with RA3? I found it fun, hilariously stupid, but fun.

Generals 2 would be fine with me, though I think they need to spin Generals off into it's own thing. Generals was good, but it never felt like a C&C title.

Awesome, what new and exciting ways will they come up with to rape the classic franchise now?

would actually be a breath of fresh air in the cnc games considering the heavy sci-fi elements in the ones since generals. I'd love to see a generals 2. LOVED that soundtrack

By an objective measure, the game is quite decent and fun. But for a C&C game I think its quite medicore, I mean really C&C games were the dogs bollocks up to and including Generals.

Did that one C&C game ever come to light where it was like an MMO and you took control of 1 unit and went into battle?

I can't remember if it ever came to be or was scrapped.

EA really needs to stop making C&C games, its bad enough the last few C&C games from EA sucked, we don't need another one to ruin the series.

Generals 2 would be awesome...the last one ruled except it had a game breaking netcode that would start to lag after awhile even in a LAN...

+1, RA3 and C&C4 were a complete joke. for the love of god EA just end the C&C series now, its bad enough you already stabbed us in the back theres no reason to continue twisting the knife.

RA 3 was okay, but C&C 4 is just retarded. If the new C&C is going to be anywhere like 4 was, then I won't be interested. I'm just not into that kind of gameplay =/

Agreed, no base building, no sale!

I don't actually blame the developers having a stab at experimenting with base-building -Dawn of War II did the same thing and managed to pull it off. The difference was probably due to Relic having the advantage of being able to draw on the source material's RPG elements to round out the experience and compensate for the lack of base-building. The C&C4 developers didn't really know what to do after they removed base-building, so the end result was pretty bad.

It was appluadable that the developers had a go at changing up the formula instead of just slapping up a re-hash of C&C3...it's just unfortunate that the changes were so terrible.

...What.. The fuck. EA, can you please stop ruining the already defiled C&C franchise? Please? :(

I admit some of the EA/Westwood C&C games were great, like RA2, Tiberian Sun, Generals, Renegade, etc... But what the fuck happened with C&C4?

Command & Conquer PC... There's still hope, if its a PC exclusive.

I wouldn't mind a lower-than-usual production value RA4, with cheesy actor cutscenes, creative units, fun. etc.

A lower-than-full-cost, mainly steam-advertised game with focus shifted to the tried and true RA gameplay instead of market share and "innovating" by stealing more popular games' mechanics, would be awesome

It's probably due to Relic having great developers while the team that makes C&C games are low tier EA journeymen assigned to pump out shovelware that exploits a faded IP.

Every future C&C game can safely be considered garbage until proved otherwise.

The only truly horrible C&C game was C&C4. I believe that EA is capable of making another good C&C game if they learn their lesson and go back to the traditional style of gameplay.

Sole Survivor from 1996 you mean? The only reason I remember it was because it was on the cover of one of the first gaming mags I subscribed to back in the mid 90s.

I honestly didn't enjoy Generals that much. I remember it having something like 5 missions per campaign, which is way too short for me. Since the very first C&C game, most of my enjoyment from the franchise has been from playing singleplayer, unpacking and modding the game rules, then replaying singleplayer with new units and balance of my own design. So mod friendly...

C&C4 is the only bad one from the series that EA made. C&C3 was excellent and RA3 was good as well. Co-op in RA3 was done very well.

they did that before called

renegrade.

it didnt do that well but I enjoyed that game

I will play a new one only if i can zoom OUT more. For real, the zoom level is stupid in these games

As long as they go back to the C&C style I will play it...non of this C&C4 crap.

they need to go back to base building (that includes allowing you to build walls) get rid of the stupid overpowered units in Kanes wrath and make the game much less cartoonish overall.

C&C3 wasn't bad, but the original was the best (closely followed by Tiberium Sun)

I'd get a good shooter. I kinda liked Renegade.

And look at the bright side, it can't be worse then C&C 4 :D

id play it if its more like the old style and not like c&c4 which was trash.

There have been rumors (not sure if they were ever confirmed or denied officially) that C&C4 was originally supposed to be a Chinese F2P MMORTS and for some reason EA decided to make it an official title. If that's the case then it explains a lot of things about the game. It doesn't excuse the piss poor story or bad gameplay, but at least it doesn't mean the entire C&C team is fucked, though there really isn't a C&C team anymore. A few big members of the C&C team that worked on 3, Kane's, RA3, and Yuri's are now Super Giant Games.

I think what drako meant was, that in vain of cawwa doody populism right now.

Renegade was awesome, but not in any way gritty realistic or anything.

Oh wow, just imagine, Call of Duty: C&C

No thank you. I would NEVER want to imagine that.

This needs to stop. Please, PLEASE EA. Stop making these. I love C&C and you are just tainting it more and more with crap...
