BF3 weapons accessories question

Is it just me, or are accessories weapon-specific?

For example, if I unlocked a type of sights for one gun, it's only unlocked for that gun. If I switch to a different similar weapon for that class, I don't have that sight. WTF?

I unlocked a bunch of sights using the M249, but I can't use them on other support weapons.:(

I like it this way, that way regardless what level they are, they still have to level up each weapon, instead of one per class.

I would agree - at first the sheer number of unlocks made me think "crap I'll never unlock all this crap" but it does give you smoething to shoot for. (no pun intended)

I will say though browsing around on battlelog some weapons look like they have 6 variations of the same damn scope. Which I think is pointless, but whatever.

My fave unlocks for weapons are holographic sights, silencer and whatever other little trinket they have.

All I can say is FIX THE LOGIC IN THE FLASHLIGHT. There is no way in broad daylight anyone would be "that" blinded by a flashlight to the face. In a metro map underground or in dark rooms? Yes the current setup is great.

But out in the middle of a field at night noon in the desert? Nope - it makes no sense.

The scope variations matter, at least to me, since they have different optics and design despite the same zoom.

For instance compare the M145 3.4x vs PK-A 3.4x. The M145 has a ballistic type reticule to better gauge bullet drop, but the PK-A scope takes up much less of the screen. Overall I prefer the PK-A much more (it is actually my favorite scope, don't use the IRNV for personal reasons). The Reflex RDS single red dot also to me is much easier to use than the Kobra RDS. I also prefer the ACOG 4x over the PSO-1, and the Holographic Holo over the other Russian holo (forgot name).

Agree about the flashlight.

Argh.

So if I just want to try out how red dot works on a different weapon that's still in the same class (which I already unlocked using a different weapon)... I have to unlock a bunch of things for that specific weapon.

:(

youre gonna need it because it takes 10 shots at range to kill

Unlike the UMP which is super accurate at range and still powerful for an SMG, lol. I got ahold of one the other day (haven't unlocked yet) and unlocked the first optic before losing it. It's crazy good still (was in beta, too).

Though honestly I've been going with mostly the M416.

The UMP has a smaller magazine and no extended magazine option compared to other SMGs.

Having used it I don't see how it is still considered overpowered. Class specific weapons perform better than it other than recon, since those weapons fulfill a different role.

For instance you would you pick the UMP over the M416 or SCAR-H? Those are just the first unlocks for Assault and Engineer. I don't see how it is considered better than those. Support and Recon guns are bit harder to compare since the roles are more different.

Yes, each weapon has its own unlocks.

But scopes behave the same regardless of the gun. Reflex RDS on a F2000 will look the exact same on a UMP 45 or M60e.

The only thing is that for holo, rds, 3.4x, and 4x, there are both NATO and Russian versions which look different. But you can unlock both factions for each weapon. IRNV, 6x, 7x and 12x scopes do not have variants for each faction.

The unlocks also come in different order depending on the weapon. For instance, to get the ballistic scope (12x) for sniper rifles, it would take 10 kills for the bolt action ones but 70-80 kills for the semi-auto ones. The 12x scope makes a huge difference over the stock 7x one.

Thank you, CoD generation, for this. One would think a game would have a long lifespan because it's fun, not because there's a crapton of stuff for the console ADD crowd to unlock.

It's kinda dumb if you think about it they all use the M1911 rail system.

Well if you "think about it", why would a military operative need to "unlock" anything at all?

:p

Because they didn't spend enough time is basic training duh.

I play only 1 class trying to level it up to the max. I picked recon and am nowhere near leveling this up all the way but being a sniper the fleshlights don't bother me one bit.

Before BF3 came out, they said there were 10x as many unlocks as BC2. This is the crap they were talking about. I am not a huge fan of the system but that is the way it is.

Lol.

Yeah, I'm trying to do the same with Assault. Though my actual score/time/whatever shows me as being Engineer about 25% of the time. Mostly that's out of necessity in maps where we are getting dominated by vehicles or something and I'm forced to switch to deal with it.

One thing would be nice is to able customize your weapon as much as it can handle it, same for vehicles. I mean, instead of deciding between having IR smoke or Zoom Optics on my tank, why can't I have both? Or be able to have a straight pull bolt and bipod, instead choosing between the two. They aren't exclusive to each other in real life.

balance issues would be my guess, If i could have anything it would be bi-pod, IR Scope and laser site, and flash suppressor on 240b.

The flashlight is horrible for several reasons - as mentioned, it's ridiculously bright even when you are outside in bright sunlight.

In my opinion, what is worse is your team mates that leave it on and then shine it in your face either to be an ass or just because they are that clueless.

I have team killed several people who would not stop doing that and I will continue to do so. It's assault and I will fire on you after I give you a warning. I have been kicked from a server for this but I don't care. Watch your muzzle and your damn light.

lulz, nice. But what to do when FF is off?

It's for camping bitches who get bored sitting around with their MG or sniper rifle.
