BF3 vs. BC3 in graphic dept

i have an e8500 running along at the specs in my sig....you can definatemy oc that e8400, those chips have TONS of overhead on them

I tried BF3 with a dual core. It was pretty sad indeed. If you get an AMD chip make sure you don't get one of the new Bulldozers. They aren't compatible with certain SteamWorks games. I found out the hard way.

Microcenter usually runs specials if you have one in your area. One of the 2500k or 2600k from Intel with a motherboard bundle would be sweet.

Again you don't get BF3 for just a single player experience... please the game has its roots in MP.

Not one big advertorial, but everyone who knows anything about BF knows that its mainly about the MP.

Battlefield 3 is pretty. That's where my appreciation for it ends.

Games in this order.

BF2 > BC2 > BF3

Pretty graphics and new maps inferior to the BF2 ones, prone, and a flashlight you can shine in people's faces don't equate to a better game.

Maybe better for console gamers, they might not of experienced anything in this realm before, but to me.... gaaaah.

I'm bored of BF3 already and that actually bothers me. I just don't understand how or why, but i'm not enjoying this game as much as I thought I would.

The only reason why people will not like bf3 mp is because they're not good at it or if they don't have friends to play it with. Quite reasonable really.

I "want" to upgrade my PC, but not for one game with a 5hr campaign{I don't do mindless MP shooting}

Some of us like team-work and/or the challenge of creatively outsmarting other real live human beings. Not saying BF3 is the best for that, but if you're going to play FPS games, a single-player campaign is about as mindless as you can get (at least in other single-player genres there is more going on than shooting).

If you want to upgrade your computer then go ahead and do it. You don't like the SP campaign in BF3, you don't like MP at all it seems and you don't like BF3.

Not sure what the problem is but you already know that you aren't going to buy BF3 so now you can concentrate on whether or not upgrade your PC.

I wouldn't. Sell your E8400 on here and buy a Q6600 off a member. Unless you go i5 2500k and Z68 or P67 mobo

I got issues with this game, but found my place as a tank buster so kinda getting into it a bit more.

Look forward to a couple of patches, graphic card driver updates and of course Karkhand and then it will be set.

Find it strange how Frostbite 2 seems to have downgraded a lot of stuff? Not sure how that works.

So I'm playin on lower resolutions that seem to work and not sacrifice too much graphics.

I'm giving BF3 a chance here, and willing to wait for a couple patches and have to take in consideration my current rig..but with that said...

I think overall BC2 flows better. Maybe it's the maps, weapons, I don't really know yet, but BF3 is not capturing me yet like BC2 did. I'll check back in a week but so far, not in love with it.

What? BC2 was so clunky and awkward movements. BF3 everything transitions smoothly, your character isn't trying to dance like the awkward social outcast at a dance(BC2).

It takes time to get used to the BF3 mechanics. It is not like BC2. I've played both.

I have an [email protected] that has worked fine in all the games I've ever been interested in. I know that in a couple years it will be too long in the tooth but for now it will probably run any of the games in the next few years I'm interested in.

I've never really like Battlefield much though as I like playing single player games generally more then multiplayer unless it's something that requires absolutely no leveling like Counter-Strike.

Playing as an engineer feels nearly identical to BC2. The other classes have been mixed up a good bit, though most of the elements are still there, with a few new ones.

All in all I thought BC2 was one of the best team based multiplayer games in years, and so far I like BF3 even better.

Can you elaborate on this? This is the first I've heard about it.

Hi guys, this is a bit off topic but here goes, right now I have a Q6600 @ 3ghz, 4gig DDR2, and a single 5870 2gig running 1920x1200. Is it worth it to buy a Crossfire mobo and an additional 5870? Or should I go another route??

edit: can my 2gb 5870 crossfire with a 1gib 5870??

I'm easily and almost always getting over 60fps w/ 1 5870, all High; no AA; 1920x1200. Seems really good to me; so happy I don't have to upgrade just for 1 game.

yes to the edit, BUT you would be wasting the 2gb card as then they would only have 1gb useable memory.

I have no clue how you are playing BF3 on a "mix of high and ultra" with that setup and resolution. If I tried the same thing, my computer would really struggle. I have to go high/medium hybrid for playability.

See sig; q9550 @ 3.4; 8gb ram ddr2; 1920x1200; fps ranges from 55 to 75. Turn off everything except all high settings, and 8 or 16 af. Turning off AA, blur, etc. is key, I think, and I don't miss'em. I can overclock the 5870, but I don't.

With my q9550 and 5870, I play at ultra settings 1920x1200 AA deferred off, everything else on. FPS range from 45 - 65. At 64 player caspian border my minimum FPS can dive to 35, but only in this map though. I guess it's the most demanding map.

I play on Ultra without any issues or graphic lag whatsoever.

The only way I know it's a video game is when I go and eat my gaming food. If it wasn't for that, I'd be trapped inside this game.

yeah the one game that proves that gpu physics acceleration is useless and unneeded. the one game that proves theres actually a reason to use a quad core or hex core processor.

the difference between BF3 and all those games you listed is the exact reason why pc gaming is dying. none of them are willing to push the boundaries of hardware requirements to play a game. all of those games in your list are using 2-5 year old engines(except for duke which uses a 10 year old engine) or use physX in the case of batman and look absolutely stupid in the process.

been running BC2 for almost 2 years with an overclocked processor and heavily overclocked gpu, never once have i had a single issue with the game with either overclock. hell i've never had a single problem with the game period except when nvidia broke the bloom support for BC2 in their drivers and would cause the game to randomly white screen.

the only reason BC2 would have a problem with an overclocked processor is because the overclock was never stable which means it was user error and not the game.

PC gaming is not dying haha, people have been saying that for over 6 years now give it a rest please......His system is fine for PC gaming, BF3 is just an outlier just like how Crysis was an outlier. I wouldn't upgrade for one game unless you have the money to do so and if that's the main game that you will be playing.
