After 732 hours of Black Ops FFA and CTF I think I'm ready to make another $120 payment to Activision and IW.

For those who are interested I'm going to be running a FFA server upon the games release.

I know this franchise catches a lot of flack on these forums, but until another developer releases a polished fast paced arcade style military shooter with a FFA mode I'm thinking CoD is gonna hold the crown in this department.

Looking forward to playing with some of you guys. :)

You sir are a very brave man...
I guess you could say that. I'm taking it you're not excited about the release. I can hardly wait.

I was tentatively excited about BF3 after watching the initial trailers but after seeing a lot of the beta videos it looks like I won't be playing it as much as I originally thought...I'll purchase it just to see how it runs/looks but other than that it's gonna be all MW3 FFA/CTF for moi.

It's on Steam man. I think you're mixing BF3 and MW3 up.

that new Elite service has somewhat lessened my enthusiasm...plus with so many potential great games coming out in the same general time frame it makes MW3 less of a priority then in previous years (Skyrim, Arkham City, RAGE, Battlefield 3 etc)

Yeah...I'll definitely be picking up every game you just mentioned. They will be used to break up the monotony. During my time playing Black Ops the only SP game I finished was Bulletstorm...however I also spent a shit load of time in Just Cause 2. I'm still in the midst of trying to finish Darksiders and Dead Rising 2. I also picked up Alpha Protocol (which is surprisingly great) and Space Marines this past weekend...that's not to mention needing to get back to Fallout 3 and GTA IV...fargin Steam sales.

I'd rather spoon my eyes out and replace them with cadbury eggs.

But it's going to be the same fucking game as teh last..what? Four?
True enough. I'd complain if it wasn't for getting so much out of each installment...that's just me of course.

There really aren't many other options when it comes to faster arcade military style shooters with the rpg elements like CoD right now...with FFA.

I have my eye on Nuclear Dawn which is a FPS/RTS hybrid. I may pick it up this weekend and give it a test run...it runs on the Left for Dead engine from what I understand. I was reading through the forums and it seems as though it might be a sleeper ala CS.

are you drinking pepsi?
Haha...I do in fact like Pepsi and I saw that Ad earlier...I may have to pick up a 12 pack and get me some double XP action. LOL I love America man...it's so ridiculous that you're either enamored by it or hate it...I guess you can be/do both...that's kind of where I stand.

You can be bitter about what our society has become or do your best to embrace it. ;)

plus I still havn't finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution :D ...lots of long games with plenty of replay value makes waiting for a nice price drop on MW3 the better option

I usually do the exact opposite...I'll pay full price for MW3 then wait for DE:HR to drop in price. :D

I'll do like I've done with MW2 and Black Ops. Have a roomate who loves CoD, so I let him pay the money and I'll play when he's at work. I consider it repayment for all the time I've spent fixing his computer related screw-ups. As much has there is not to like about the franchise, it does have some fun moments and is mildly entertaining.

Sort of hard to get excited about the fifth game on the same engine in under four years.

I'll get it when the price drops. An "online store" sells new games for less after a couple of months. In fact, I got COD BO for only $30

Haha. This makes enough sense. That wouldn't fly in my parts though...I'd be like, "WTF HAPPENED TO MY K/D RATIO!" :p

True enough. I'm not against the idea of another developer coming along and upping the bar. Until then I guess all we can do is play what's available. :)

What they are doing to cod reminds me of guitar hero and madden.

Ehhh, somewhat I guess. Guitar Hero was more along the lines of a "fad" though. FPS's in general will always be evolving, not so much in the sense of being a "fad" but more along the lines of, "How can we reinvent what is already so popular?". <---- This is especially the case with the CoD franchise.

Madden on the other hand...there is only so much you can do with a sports title...annual installments are to be expected. I'm not really a fan of football or team sports in general though. I can see how fans of the series would be upset if it wasn't released in annual installments too however. I remember being kind of agitated when the whole "EA monopolizes the NFL trademark" happened. Though I've never been a fan of football I remember having a blast with NFL 2k on Dreamcast.

Not sure I'm believing that. Blackops still sells for $60 new at Gamestop.

The cheapest I've seen BO was when it was on sale during a Steam sale...$49.99? I was shocked when I saw it. It took forever before they dropped the price of MW1.

I'd be interesting in getting MW3 if I can get it cheap. Its currently retailing in Australia for $100 and even importing it, its over $50, I'll buy it if I can get it for something a little more reasonable.

I usually get excited for COD because it is fun but less so witch each "new" iteration. Every trailer I've seen so far from MW3 looks identical to MW2. Essentially it's what MW2 should have been, exactly what it is, with dedicated servers. I'm really looking forward to Conquest mode come Octobers release of BF3. DICE would have had to really messed the game up for me to relegate myself to MW3.

I bought BO for $45 a month after the release, Target near me was running a sale on all games, accidentally placed most of their newer games (no nintendo DS games was in the sale :( ) and I got it for sale price. Guess I got lucky.

I can understand guys like yourself supporting this game since other than the old arena shooters, there isn't anything else that offers FFA...so you won't cop any hate from me. I get annoyed at the one-eyed COD players who just won't try anything else when they only play the team-based gametypes like Domination/TDM, since I think BF gives a much more fulfilling sense of satisfaction from getting the win, as well as being better at team-based gameplay in general. I usually find personal success (like a good KD and a nice killstreak) is more fulfilling in COD than getting the team win...whereas getting a high KD in BF means nothing to me if we lose the round.

Well to give you an indication of how *excited* most [H] are about MW3, take a look at the 5 page thread devoted to it....and then look at the 200+ page thread devoted to BF3 along with the new thread to takes it place.......yeah ;)

Not a first day purchase for me but I will get it within the first month or so. I like the COD games for when I'm in the mood for something faster paced and just want to kill something after a long day at work and don't have a lot of time to play a slower paced game.

Definitely buying it on release day, MW2 is the only place I can get my riot shield fix. I'll be picking up BF3 on release day too, been playing the beta and it's alright but not as amazing as I was hoping.

AT my local supermarket they have a display intended to anger 50% of the forum. It is a series of big cutouts for MW3 and the star wars blu ray, set up in a group scene :D

This one is a maybe for me. To be honest, I haven't even been thinking about it (my attention has been all Battlefield, lol). I have a hunch that it'll be another cookie cutter Call of Duty game. But I did enjoy the single player campaigns in the previous Call of Duty games though. So if I see this game on sale (not likely, lol), then I'd probably grab it.
