Who else got Borderlands from Steam ?

It depends who hosts the game, if your level 10 and host a hame, a level 30 could join, and the game would up the difficulty, but it wouldnt be as hard as if you were both level 30.

you would then work on your quests, and if he had any of the same quests you would both complete them, and both get the reward.

the game also drops better loot with more people playing, so go have some co-op fun!

I'm on my 2nd playthrough with my Soldier (51) and 1st with Siren (31) and the game is still pretty fun. I have yet to even try co-op yet. Maybe I should, I just assumed people would have the WoW attitude about stealing people's gear for their own personal glory.

so mad, I hit the level cap and everything is frigging hard to kill now..

is there a way to up it past 69?

pretty much done with the game, went through both play throughs and I am just trying to finish up everything.

Bigbacon - Do you have all 4 DLCs? I believe the first( Zombie ), third (General Knoxx), and fourth (Claptrap) include level cap upgrades, but I do not remember the specifics.

Old thread necro but hate cluttering up the forum with new redundant ones.

So Gearbox finally finished the Multiplayer conversion from GameSpy to Steamworks, patch went live 9/15/2014.

This is glorious because Borderlands 1 is still the best Borderlands, and co-op is the way Borderlands is meant to be played.. Been playing with a few friends, we started a x4 Co-Op with new characters for old time's sake, works seamlessly. Love that Mad Max/Wasteland/Fallout feel of BL1 with its droning, ambient music, the grittiness, the extra gore, the guns actually have balls. A far cry from the childish, oversaturated, space-cowboy themed tripe of BL2 and BL:TPS that are apparently target marketed to console tweens.

Crawmerax, here we come.

I'll have to check it out. I enjoy the hell out of BL2 for what it is but I do sympathize with some of your points there.

I may have to get back to playing BL1 again. I think I have the GotY edition, so I should be set to roll through all of it. This time I'm going all out sniping, since the last time I went as a soldier.

Full disclosure: I didn't discover BL1 until *after* I already put a couple hundred hours into BL2. And I was shocked by how much more passionate I became about BL1. My initial impression was that the graphics looked dated - but ofcourse, because I was coming from BL2. But my friend insisted "yeah, just wait". Very quickly I realized the game was simply epic. Then I hit Playthrough 2, and the fun cranked up another notch. The DLC's are a lot of fun too.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed BL2, but BL1 just has "soul". And I will buy BL:TPS as well, I simply love these games. I can't think of any game that does "drop in co-op" better than the BL series.

My man if all you've played is Roland, you're missing out. Lilith is usually considered the most powerful of all the classes once you get her going, especially mid and late game, but Mordecai is hands down my favorite because of his Gunslinger oriented skilltree. He excels at pistols and sniper rifles, and I would strongly suggest speccing into the pistol oriented parts of his skilltree. Find a nice Revolver (they're fantastic with the nice spin reload sound) - something like a Pestilent Defiler (meaning it has corrosive damage which melts armored enemies) with a 3x scope, and that thing is basically a mini sniper rifle. Headhots for days, my friend - its a blast.

Huh, i felt the exact opposite about BL1 vs. BL2. Love the characters and more diverse areas. And I played BL1 first. But to each his own. Can’t go wrong with either game really.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably go Lilith or Mordecai next. :)

I found the maps and atmosphere more interesting in BL1. But I am only about 7 hours into BL2 so it is hard to compare.

I was not sucked into BL2 but it is a fun game.

Love the atmosphere. The ambient music really fits the maps. Not unlike Fallout 3, the atmosphere in BL1 is more bleak, more desolate than BL2 and its palette of primary colors. Admittedly the gunplay and shooting will feel a little more dated in BL1 compared to BL2, at least initially, but once you get a feel for them, you realize they've got more oomph and that the guns in BL2 are like toy store space guns by comparison. The game really rewards headshots. Playing the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC with a group is reason enough to own this game.

I've played through BL2's base campaign many times and hit each DLC at least once. It's fun. But if I had to choose one to bring to a desert island, it is Borderlands 1.

Finally, the loot is more rewarding in BL1.

Agree 100% I just never got into bl2 and miss playing bl1. Damn if I can get the gang to switch to bl1 again I'd be having a blast.

This is really the main difference between the two games. BL1 loot system is vastly superior to its sequel. Hopefully they fix the issue in the pre-sequel.

I'm re-installing BL1 as we speak! I'm always looking for people to play with

SteamID : superNoid (noidy)

I'm going to have to buy Borderlands 1. I own #2 and just grew bored of it. Every time I found a gun it was no better than what I already had...

never played the first Borderlands but weren't there issues with the kb/m layout and other PC-centric problems that were fixed with the sequel?

Yeah but you can use many of the tools available to fix all of these issues. For instance these are some of the settings of the tool I use has;

Gotchya.

He was my favorite far and away.

That configurator is essential for BL1.

Pretty much my experience in my limited time. Upgrades seem much rarer than BL1. I also got bored of checking, then carrying back stuff to sell. Gets old quick.

Yah know, I've given this advice to many but some call me a quack for doing so. In Borderlands 1, change characters frequently. Play a couple hours with one character then switch to another. I, and several others, have found the loot drops have been a bit better.

The entire loot system in BL2 was practically broken because of that in my book. It ruined what was a hugely fun mechanic from the first game.

yeah nerfed the guns and perks in borderlands 2. just made it too much of a trudge of boredom. I never got around to finishing it.

Fallout and Diablo loved each other very much. And one day, they had a baby. And they named it: "Borderlands"

I found it pretty tedious in BL1 to, but at least you got upgrades to change your guns up somewhat frequently. I hope that as I progress further in the game and level up the drops will become increasingly better.

But I do want to finish the game. Not sure if I want the DLC (only willing to pay $5 for it), but the next time I get a weekend to sit down I will finish the game. Unless GTA5 or something is out by then. :p

I just re-installed for the first time in years and none of the intro videos are playing (sound works but screen is black etc).....

Apparently, Borderlands uses Bink video. I installed "RAD Tools" which should include the codec, but no change.

Help?
