Rather than reviving one of the old threads, I will take the initiative and christen this the official thread :cool:

Looks pre-rendered, but I like the art direction and sci-fi setting. I am not going to get prematurely excited at this stage as I doubt it is in any way indicative of actual gameplay.

Their only purpose is to sucker in the general popular I would assume. Who probably think WOW THIS IS WHAT THE GAME IS ACTUALLY GOING TO LOOK AND PLAY LIKE AND RUN AT THAT FRAMERATE ON MY CELERON 512MB RAM COMPUTER! TAKE MY MONEY RIGHT NOW

lol, of course its pre rendered. it will be many years before any game looks like that and be playable. btw it probably would have been more helpful to put the "Prey 2 - Official Thread" in general gaming since its multi platform. I almost posted the same thing there until I saw your thread here.

I thought the trailer looked awesome and reminded me of that Unreal Engine 3 Samaritan video from a little while back. at least the Samaritan was being done for real on 3 gtx580 gpus though.

Wow, so many good trailers lately...can't wait for that to come out...
 
This one caught my attention when they implied it would be an open world game. I like the bounty hunter theme,looks like a Sergio Leone western set in space.

Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.

Potentially one of those "good delays." What do I mean by that?

I don't want this to be a quickie rush job. I think this thing has a hell of a lot of potential based on what I've seen and heard so far and I want it to come out "when it's ready" and kick ass.

yeah, unless it start repeating some of the original Prey issues, I'm not too worried
 
Well, Bethesda released Brink in the state it was in. So, if Prey 2 doesn't even reach /that/ standard...

Well, this certainly looks to be a good delay. Any delay meant purely to bring the game up to par is a good delay, even if it does mean we won't get to play it as soon. The game looked absolutely awesome. From the concept, to the feel of an alien metropolis, it really just gushed atmosphere, and I'm still excited to play it.
 
Oh man, I am glad it's not canceled, after seeing the demonstration of it and the CGI clip, it hooked me.

I guess at this rate I can just write this thing off barring a pleasant shock down the road. Too friggin' bad.

I can only agree with your sentiment on the matter. I'd rather set my hopes low for this one and maybe have a good surprise later one...
 
2012 is shaping up to be a bummer for open world game fans,STALKER 2 delayed and in doubt,and now Prey 2. I'm so tired of the same old boring linear shooters.

Dark Souls is open world and out 8/24

BioShock Infinite looks amazing.

Does Borderlands 2 and Far Cry 3 count?

Dark Souls isn't technically a 2012 game, but yeah, those other ones look great. There is still some hope for open-world fans.

I wouldn't call that an "open world" game as it's been described so far. Right now it sounds more like Hitman where you have missions that you can achieve in various ways, but between missions you get put in a "hub world".
 
This thread is only 2 years old, but now that I thought of it... what the hell is going on with this game?
 
I was just thinking about this game the other day...it looked so awesome, and I really enjoyed Prey.
 
I forgot where I read in the last few months... apparently this game is still in play but I really am not sure about that at this point. Anyone? After two years I basically wrote it off unless I get a pleasant surprise. I won't believe until I see it.
 
Im assumming this game is dead by now as we havent heard any news since 2011. I honestly dont even care for this game anymore. I loved Prey back in 2006!
 
If it ever gets released,I doubt it will remotely resemble the open world game shown in the early trailer that showed so much promise.
 
It is still being worked on and changed developers (I believe mentioned in this thread). Prey itself didn't have a smooth and quick development path either.
 
Sounds like development hell...therefore I can't have high hopes about it. :(
