Same thing happened to me. I have a hold on my wells fargo CC account right now for the price of two of them and I also got the email saying they wouldn't charge. I find that very strange.

Wen't to my local MC today. Talked to the salesman who honored the $99.00 price for me! So, website says $119.00 but you might get lucky with one of the guys in store.

Drive is installed and chuggin' along right next to my 1TB F3.

UPDATE: I spoke with a rep regarding if you ordered one: "even if they come back in stock after the 30 day period has expired, you can just send us an email or come into the store with a copy of your order email and we will price match it for you". Sweet! It looks like I'll still be getting my two for $99 regardless of this little problem that they are having. She also said they ran out at the place that ships them for online orders is the reason that happened.

There back in stock now online. So... I guess I can just email me them and they'll get my order processed for the $100 price. Guess we'll see. :eek:
 
Anyone who got the backorder notice get a shipping email yet? I'm still out of luck here, this sucks :/
 
I ordered late evening after this deal was posted and got a shipping confirmation with tracking. I only ordered 1.

Same here, went on Saturday and they were very helpful and price matched 2 for me. Cancelled my online order and saved on shipping :).

For those of you who ordered online: I just spoke with another rep a few minutes ago. He said they are still waiting on a big shipment of these currently. He said if they don't get them in before the 30 days (for those of you who got that email), you can just call them up or email them and they will honor the price for you. He said he is still unsure of an ETA though as they are waiting on a big shipment of them still. Suck's they are keeping us waiting though. Bas-turds. :D
 
I ordered 4 drives at the $99 price and received notification on Saturday that 2 of the drives had shipped (they sent me a tracking number and all). Those should be here tomorrow.

Honestly, this is my experience more often then not with MC, at least in store (never ordered online with them). They're a great retailer and one that's a pleasure doing business with.

Glad it worked out for you, the way it did for me. :)

Seems like the same thing on Amazon for $99 with Free Shipping. So, there is another option if one doesn't want to order through MicroCenter or if it shows OOS or something. ;)

So I had 2 of these in my virtual shopping cart over the weekend at $99.99 and didn't pull the trigger because a lot of people were saying they were getting the backorder notices. Of course they're at $119.99 now but I stopped by the Santa Clara store just now and they got two in on today's truck. I told the clerk to get them for me.

The boxes were sealed and didn't have a model # on the outside but clearly listed a 32mb cache model - which would likely be the SATA 3.0GB/s version. So I thought about it and almost walked out without buying because I was hoping for the newer 64mb cache 6.0GB/s model. I asked them if they would honor the $99.99 price and they would not.

I bought them both anyways and opened them up to find that, despite what the box says, they are in fact the newer WD2002FAEX model with 64mb cache and are SATA3 6.0GB/s. Pretty decent even at $119.99 plus tax.

Your not guranteed a WD Black and the warranty is shorter....not exactly the same

Received mine from a weborder. Confirmed it was the 64mb version inside the box.
 
I canceled mine. I lost the receipt for the 1TB one I bought so I can't return it. I also received a 1TB blue drive back from a WD RMA, so I don't really neeed that 2TB drive.

Oh well, next time.
 
Just a quick update for those that got put on hold.

I just got confirmation my drive shipped so hold out hope and check those
spam folders just in case.
 
Newegg has the Hitachi Deskstar 5K3000 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Drive for $59 after rebate. May not be as fast as the Caviar Black but bang per buck is pretty good... free shipping ...
 
I received both of mine today, I haven't hooked them up yet though. I'll do that tomorrow most likely.

Yep, mine came in a Retail packaged box.

i already registered it, it'll go well in my system this weekend.
 
My four arrived. All 64MB cachen WD2002FAEX with mislabeled 32MB box. Wolves in sheep clothing. :cool:
 
I found my best buy receipt...god damnit. There was still time too.
