B&M - 2500K Microcenter $249.99 less $70.00 instore savings!!!

yeah, this post is full of fail :)

microcenter has been selling CPUs at a loss for at least 2 years now, afaik

thanks anyway op :)

What's amazing is that people still ask for/get $200 for USED first gen i7s even though these exist at this price

I have gotten 3 of these now through Fry's, and they did price match them all, which was awesome

I think they might be targetting people with existing X58s. But the odd thing is that, most ones being sold are 920's, which almost anyone else with a X58 will have, so no point really asking for that high a price. And from gaming standpoint, there's 0 reason to invest in a X58 platform compared to Sandy Bridge (even with the PCIe bandwidth advantage).

And of course there's still those Q95xx floating for around that price too. A H67+i2100+DDR3 RAM can be had for a few bucks more and will blow it out of the water. So even if you have a S775 platform, there's absolutely no reason to get those Q chips (imo).

And oh yeah, old news @ OP--thanks for the thought though.

I got i7 2600k pricematched at Frys. Overclocks like a beast and runs very cool

"beast" for sandy bridge is a relative term. They all overclock well, but finding one that clocks in excess of 5ghz on air is a bit tough ;)

I have it at 4.8 ghz on air very stable using prime95. I bet I can do 5 ghz. Just need water cooling.

Try running updated linx/ibt test with your setup and I bet you'll see that's it not 100% stable. Especially if you engage AVX with Win 7 SP1

It's stable at everything I throw at it. Been running it for few months now.

Wow, damn it, why hadn't this occurred to me yet? I know price matching was something relatively new with Fry's, and I've used it before. But I keep thinking, "oh, well Microcenter has better deals on CPUs and sometimes Mobos, maybe I should drive to the nearest MC which is 2 hours away." Thanks for reminding me. :)

I love it!

You can pretty much substitute any vice with that statement....for instance...
