I just received my email from MicroCenter to replace my P67 board:

An Important Announcement regarding Intel(r) Series 6 Chipsets

Act before May 15th!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Good News! All makes and models of motherboards designed for Intel’s
2nd Generation Core processors (code-named Sandy Bridge) now feature
revised 6 Series chipsets, and are available immediately!

As you remember, in early February Intel identified a potentially serious
issue with the 6 Series chipsets, possibly affecting your system’s
performance but likely not your data. Intel’s belief that consumers
could continue to use their systems with confidence has been borne out.
However, some users may see degradation in the performance of SATA
devices attached to the system, whether internal or external (such as
hard drives and DVD drives).

We committed to stand behind every customer who purchased a system or
a motherboard from us that featured this chipset. With the new availability
of solid components from all manufacturers, NOW is the best time to return
your original board for FULL CREDIT toward a new one. This credit will be a
Micro Center Gift Card. Apply it however you want - a replacement board,
an upgrade, a different manufacturer, a different product, cash, whatever!

Please complete your return by May 15, 2011 to receive your Gift Card
which then can be used immediately or whenever you want. Please bring in
your receipt and any packaging, etc. that you still have.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and if this message has reached you
in error. If you have already returned and or exchanged your motherboard,
please disregard this email. We wanted everyone to know that the power
of Intel’s 2nd Generation Core processors is back!

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this issue,
and our assurance that we will keep you informed of any further developments.

We look forward to seeing you before May 15th.

As always, thank you for your business,
Your Micro Center Team

So they are taking the board as a return and you get full store credit in return.

I haven't decided yet if I want to RMA through ASUS or go through MicroCenter.

I saw on their site last week that you just "buy" a replacement board for 18 minute pick up and bring your old board and receipt. When I went to pick it up the girl was confused until I explained about the series 6 chipset and then she said "Oh, the recall!" so mentioning that may save you some breath.

Ya from my understanding those of us who bought our board as a combo or on sale are getting the shaft. I would rather they just replace my mobo with the same one. Instead they will give us a credit of what we paid and we can go spend an extra $50 to get the same mobo we already had. I think I'll end up RMAing through ASUS.

Any one know if you can still return the mobo and cpu to MC for a full refund? This poor cpu doesn't clock to well anymore after a few months of folding at 5ghz 1.5v lol. I'd love to just return it all and wait for the next good sale.

They still have the P8P67 PRO listed at 189.99 on the website- that's what I paid for it at launch so I'm not really worried about not getting all my money back from them.

Ya the thing is I paid 159.99 for my P8P67 PRO because of a combo 2600K deal. So I would have to pay $30 to get the exact same mobo I already have.

I went through Asus for my exchange. Did the standard exchange, sending in my board first before receiving the replacement board. It took a while through them though. It basically took an email to them each step of the way to get things moving along. Applied for the RMA, waiting and waiting, no number, email, got the number...waiting and waiting for the Fed Ex info, email, got Fed Ex info, send in the board, waiting and waiting, finally received, waiting and waiting for repair status update, send an email...update and ship...Overall it took about 20 days minus a couple of days that I needed to get the board to Fed Ex.

Maybe it is better now, but it was like pulling teeth to get them moving!

On a side note, love the system I built! Core i5 2500k with P8H67M-LE and an SSD drive, it boots in 23 seconds!

Really? I got the $70 off (or whatever it was) for my 2600k- they had the PRO board listed as 189.99 "on sale". Apparently I missed out?

I dont see them charging you for getting the same thing you had originally. If you decied to change to a difent board i could see them charging.

Yea, I agree with Makeroflostsouls- if you told customer service there that you wanted to do a straight swap I'm sure they would accommodate you.

Maybe you got more of a discount than me on the cpu Hostile?

Looking at my receipt i paid 159.99 for the mobo and 279.99 for the CPU. It was a pretty good sale.

I will call and ask this weekend if i can get a full exchange instead of credit. I'll let you guys know how it goes if no one else has tried by then.

I'm interested to know as well if i can just do a straight swap.

Not really looking forward to disassembling and reassembling when there's no motivation of actually being able to see improvements in system performance. I'm still a noob on putting on thermal paste and it just seems like it's trial and error with a "hope" that you did it right. I'm even contemplating just putting on just the stock cooler instead and be done with it.

OR maybe I should just get a more quiet cooler, which should get me excited to reassemble again. lol. this is addicting AND expensive.

I prefer a straight swap and I don't see why they wouldn't do that but I need some confirmation before I pull my board out for replacement. Also how do we know they will have enough in stock? Down time is a bitch! (I guess I can use my laptop in the mean time but what's the fun in that)

A straight swap should be no problem. What I'm more concerned about was the $25 gift card they said we would get if we waited to substitute the board in their initial email in February. I noticed there is no mention of the gift card in this email.

They didn't say they were going to do the $25 gift card- that was just a survey of something they were thinking of doing.

But, that being said I had chosen the "wait until April and get the gift card" option...and they didn't contact me until April so...

You are correct. They didn't explicitly say that we would receive the gift card, but kinda implied it. I'm sure a lot of ppl held on to their boards expecting the gift card. I guess it was a pretty smart move on them since now they didn't lose as much money on returns.

Pboy i don't think they ever said they would give us gift cards. They had us fill out a survey that asked if we wouldn't mind waiting for our mobos if we got a $25 gift card.

I'm assuming whatever data they gathered showed that most people didn't need to get their mobos asap. And they didn't feel it was necessary to give us all gift cards.

Edit: That's why you dont wait 15 minutes to hit post lol

It is a straight swap. I handed them my old board (Which I got for $99 on sale at the same time as my processor and it is $110 now after rebate) and got the new board. I just "bought" it through the site so I could go to customer service and they would have it waiting for me. I didn't pay a dime. I just did this Friday evening, five days ago.

I paid $159 for the P8P67 Pro with the combo deal like a few others here.

When I went into swap my old mobo in for a B3, the guy that rang it up said it would be $30 increase. When I explained that it was the same motherboard, but a newer revision due to the recall, the guy was cool about it and did a pricematch so I didn't have to pay the difference.

This was Monday, before I got the email, at the MC in Denver.

Do you need to show a receipt? What if you got the board as a gift?

I believe so. I did, and he eyeballed it carefully.

The new boxes are clearly labeled as B3 Revisions, so if you still have the original box and most of the accessories they may be understanding.

I returned my board on monday for a full refund. This was a day before I received the email posted in this thread. My MC never got the P8P67 M Pro board in, so I just bought a new one from Amazon. I got sick of waiting.

Thanks for the info. Haven't had time to go in and exchange mine yet, but I was worried about having the pay the difference since I got a combo deal on release day. Hopefully the KC store will do the same.

Email clause:
"This credit will be a Micro Center Gift Card. Apply it however you want - a replacement board,
an upgrade, a different manufacturer, a different product, cash, whatever!"

I bought and paid "cash" for 2 TP67XE motherboards on 1155 launch. Does this mean I could get full refund in "cash" too or just MC store credit. I want the cash option.

Am I deluded to think so? Misunderstood maybe? Thoughts, advise (how to get cash)?

same here. Not a n00b, but still not looking forward to taking my crap apart and putting it back together. I bought this thing on launch day and saw the recall like 3-4 weeks later.

I'm anal about my cable management so disassemble/reassemble will be an annoyance.

Oh well...need to do it..

Do you need to show a receipt? What if you got the board as a gift?

No, I don't believe you need a receipt. They can scan it and look it up by name. At least that's what they did for me but I was the original person that purchase it, so I'm not sure if you would have any problems as your not the original purchaser. Based on that information they would also know how much was paid at the time of purchase.

This sucks for ppl that originally received the bundle credit and are trying to upgrade to a different board as they will lose that $30 discount they originally received for the bundle.

i just did the swap... they looked up my trasaction from the motherboard serial number. absolutely painless.

Just did the swap at the KC store. Other than the guy trying to get me to pay the difference between the current price and the combo price I paid in January, I didn't have any issues.

Thanks: trungerz

I see now: MC refund will be in form of original payment or anything the "customer" see fit and not what MC staff will push to you!

did a swap at the cincy as well. no problem at all. ended up buying a new cpu cooler as well though. haha

Got my replacement board at Microcenter this afternoon. Gonna put things back together tonight. No hassle whatsoever, however, try to convince them that they owe me a $25 gift card but they want proof about MC stating that. Never hurt to try :)

You go to the Madison Heights one right? I tried Sunday and their site said they were all out :(

Has anyone else considered taking the refund (in the form of the gift card) and waiting for the Z68 motherboards?

You may be wating awhile. I took part in the Intel Virtual Channel Conference today and I got to ask some Intel engineers about Z68. They said they won't be available until Q3!

Yep I went to the Madison Height one. I called on Friday afternoon and they said they had a big shipment in. So I went on Monday around noon-ish and got a board. Not sure how many they had in that locked room but from what i can see they still had some in stock. I would just go there if i were you if you don't live too far from them.

Hmm... They must have slipped the schedule. They had been saying Q2.

Hmm... This story says Gigabyte has already stopped P67 chipset production and that Z68 boards will appear May 8th. Per the letter Microcenter sent, we have until May 15th to get the gift card for the B2 stepping P67 boards, so it shouldn't be a long wait (if any) though the Z68 motherboards may cost a little more.

Wow...if you can wait until May 8th, return your old board, get a credit and just apply it toward a Z68 board. Time to start selling my P67 boards in anticipation of the Z68!

So, my Gigabyte GA-P67-UD3P has been hit by the SATA-II (3.0Gbs) bug. All 4 SATA-II ports are basically useless now. Any device attached to them is pretty much unusable. I guess I should get more motivated to return the board to Microcenter now.

A 5-15% failure rate after 3 years my eye...
