A New Battlefield 3 Trailer

i hardly ever play the multiplayer of these games anymore, I've always been a fan of a good story and single player since HL1 has been the sweet spot for me.

I agree. I'm in the same boat and was really impressed by in the day by the overall story telling, single player gameplay variety, etc found in Half Life 2. That's still one of my top picks for fps story. Deus Ex, the original, is right up there as well though. I'd love to see a fps game top Half Life 2 or Deus Ex's storyline but I sadly don't think the game to top those two will be Battlefield 3.

You never know though. The last Call of Duty game had a better storyline than I thought it would...but not that great. Over the top and really hollywoodish with unnecessary excess swearing, etc. Maybe BF3 will try to compete.

Not much interested in the game. But the trailer... mixing analogue video artefacts (chromatic aberration and interlacing) with digital signal artefacts (macroblocking), and what appears to be an aperture grill effect on the title text? THIS MAKES ME ANGRY!

Just use common sense. Christ, it's not hard.

There will have a single player campaign and of course, multi-player.

If you buy it you buy it, if you don't, no one cares. Ether way, it doesn't really matter.

Why the does the animation show the guy cocking the M4 after he reloads a new mag?

When the old mag is expended, the bolt should lock back. When he reloads he should be simply inserting the new magazine and hitting the bolt catch on the side of the receiver.

It's like when your handgun is out of ammo. The slide locks back. You don't have to c0ck it every time you insert a new magazine.

This makes sense if he reloads when the mag is not completely emptied. If that's the case, and there is a different animation for when your mag is completely empty, that would be interesting to see.

On a few of my AR magazines there is a bolt catch when empty feature, and when you eject that magazine, the bolt will travel forward. So you'll need to cycle the bolt to chamber a round after changing them out.

I've never understood that either. It's a matter of laziness and a lack of gun knowledge on the part of the developers.

Then your mags are crappy and aren't working properly. The bulk of AR-15 magazines do not do this.

If you don't want to play mutliplayer BF3 you will not have a good $/play experience. BF:BC2 single player was a departure from norm in BF series (but a welcome surprise)

I don't know about you guys, but I got 2 years of play from BF42, year from BF:V, nearly 5 years from BF2, lotta friends, clan mates, and official matches outta the series. :D

I'm hoping that there is a trend towards also offering an awesome single player experience with these traditionally massively multiplayer games. If all of the hype turns out to be true and BF3 becomes an awesome DX11 game, then I would like to experience to new engine. BC2 was my first entry into the BF series exactly because it offered a solid single player campaign that was really really good.

Ah cool, thanks. They cut out a lot of good stuff from the regular trailer we saw.

The single player is looking better than Crysis 2. I don't think they'll forget about multiplayer, theres too much of a following from the entire BF series. If they wanted to stick with single player only, they would just pump out BFBC sequels rather than taking a chance with a regular BF game. They need to go without character development and a working story line with BF3 which is a risk on their part to go single player only.

If you watch that vid quoted above (by DeathSmasher), you'll see the same sequence, but he doesn't pull the charging handle. So maybe there's a SPORTS button in the game..? Lol

Sigh. Can't anyone make a game where the feet or hands, when they hit the ground, stop moving? I hate that sliding effect (like in the vents).

It's 2011 people!

. I'm also hoping that they'll add some DX11 goodies, although I find that doubtful since we would have heard of it by now.

Oh they've stated they are going full out, there will be many enhancements on the PC side. It will actually be the target platform believe it or not. Consoles will get a dumbed down version.

A lot of people here lack common sense.

What exactly will a multiplayer video show that you won't see in their single player videos? Absolutely nothing.

Ok, now I'm impressed. Definitely NOT a cutscene.

Can't agree about BF2 coments though. Boring maps, bad vehicle control and ho hum graphics.

This ain't that..

:)

How the hell did he get his legs under him to drop down and FUCK single player, BF is all about multi. The more they keep showing single only the more I fear the fact that this is on Ps3 and Xbox means it's gonna blow.

How can you say that with what they have shown so far?

When he looked up at the rainfall of bullet casings... *goosebumps*
why couldnt this be a summer release.. sheesh.

What platform is this taken from, anybody know?

ALL initial BF3 displays, Demos and exhibitions have been on custom PCs DICE is lugging around everywhere. This is a DX11 game from the start. Consolers are going to get a cut down version as they should.

I'm hoping we can fly little birds - now that would be bad a.

Not sure if any of you guys played BF1942 Desert Combat Mod, but toward the end of that, they added the little bird. Flying in that game was so much fun.
I'm sure I will not get what I want but I want DICE to make the flying on BF3 to be as hard as it was in BF1942 Desert Combat MOD. They made it too easy to fly the Helo's in BF2, and BFV. Desert Combat took practice to fly the Helo's, much more fun.

Vents..hehehe....anyone remember the Mythbuster's episode about "spy movies" and vents like this?

Like what?

- Vents
- QTE hand to hand against a enemy combatant
- Enemy engagement from bridge looked terrible (I understand it's Alpha, but it was plain)

Coolest thing I saw was spent rounds falling from the bird, big whoop.

How can you say that with what they have shown so far?

Umm, because I've actually played games like this and you don't get cutscenes with that much first person POV.

Geez, I say I hate a game I get crap, I say I like a game and I get crap.

Fine, from now on I both love and hate everything!
