I hate this mod intensely. It doesn't matter why anymore (after 2 hours of tweaking, still can't get Android Market is just the latest reason). I hate CM6 and want to go back to my HTC Incredible's original state so I can root it and set it up the way I liked it before trying Cyanogenmod.

I've scoured the web. Is there any way to remove CM6 and reinstall Sense? If not, does anyone know a way to get the Android Market working?

Please send me a tiny grain of hope!!!

I tried gapps several times but Android Market never appears. I also tried to install vending.apk and vending-2.2.6 - neither will install. I can't get my Clockwork premium license to try to download other ROMs because I don't have the Market. Insane!!!!

nandroid backup and wipe it all clean? Did you sync your google account first?

Yep, did it all. When I WIPE, it just resets the phone to the original CM6 state.

No way to use Odin and a copy of the stock rom and modem and go back? Or is Odin back to stock a Galaxy S thing?

Never heard of Odin. Is that an app?

Odin is a pc program you can use for the Captivate to restore it to stock. It's only for Captivate though, you'd have to check if theres something similar for Incredible.

Edit: nvm it's not just Captivate, but all Galaxy S phones.

Thanks for your suggestions. In case anyone forgot...

I really hate Cyanogenmod!!!!!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

Holy crap! I downloaded CM7 on my PC, copied it to my SD card, installed it on my Inc... it's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! It's as smooth as iOS, looks great, is fast... but still no Android Market!!!

Trying gapps, again... will post results.

Hell fucking yes, it worked!!

CM7 is amazing!!

I'll post screens after I get my phone set up.

LOL Wolf, you had me worried there for a few. I have CM7 running on my EVO and Nexus 1, like it a lot. Although I must say, I prefer a senseless/stock android hybrid. Sense contacts/dialer, stock everything else.

Oh man, I was ready to go on a rampage with all the troubles CM6 gave me. I just tried 7 on a whim and was blown away by how smooth it is. I don't understand why Google Apps wouldn't work for me in 6... but I don't care any more. :p:p:p

You have to flash a sense rom to your phone. It was stupid not to make a backup.

I can make a couple of recommendations:
Virtuous v3.2.0 is the Incredible stock rom with a few things stripped out.

SkyRaider Sense v3.5 is my favorite. It's got a lot of tweaks and additions to the stock Sense experience.

Edit: I see you got CM7 up and running. Glad you got things back in order.

Cyanogenmod has forks for all supported devices. The great thing about open source is a lot of the devices are similar, therefore commits from one branch can be beneficial to the others.

Also to the OP, I would be remiss without mentioning the theme editor in CM7. All you do is install a theme .apk, load it up in the theme editor, reboot and voila, your phone is themed. Check out this honeycomb theme, its amazing:

Also you might want to change the thread title lol.

Was gonna suggest a program like this. My EVO uses a similar process to reset to stock (had to for radio upgrade)

Mine if I ask wheather you liked (or tried) CM6? I'm still waiting to upgrade from 6.0 for fear of breaking verious programs on my EVO, but I'm eager for 4G...

I ran CM6 on my EVO for several weeks but couldn't get it stable no matter how much I tried. I took the easy way out and loaded the stock software back on. Yes, I can't customize as much as I could before, or overclock the phone, but at least it doesn't reboot at random times now.

Well, so much for my CM7 love. My phone's been crashing/random restarting for 2 hours. I tried those ROMs that GamerZ suggested but they didn't work. I can't find a stock Incredible 2.2 ROM anywhere on the web. I'm fucked.

Stability seems to vary from phone to phone. I've had no problems and neither have a lot of people, but looking at the CM6/CM7 forums it seems lots of people _are_ having issues. I'm starting to wonder if HTC let QC slip on a few batches of the units...

The biggest problem I have with Stock is battery consumption (and a broken bluetooth stack) but then it is running a UI atop a UI... (Sense runs atop the default AOSP) but if it works for you, congrats :)

Following the directions in this thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960323

1. Do a full wipe, factory reset and dalvik
2. Flash CM7
3. Flash GAPPS
4. Reboot

The GAPP package should have the market included

I am using CM7 GB on my Eris and everything including the market works great.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I tried it. Everything works until I try to install the renamed PB31IMG file. It always aborts with the "... can't open (bad)" error message. It aborts whether I d/l directly to my phone or copy it from my PC.

Just to make sure there are no mistakes, is the file PB31IMG.ZIP? I made that mistake once myself :D

It also looks like you may need a different version of HBOOT if that method isn't working.
Try this solution after reading through the whole thread.

You need to flash Gapps immediately after flashing your custom ROM.

I've honestly never heard of somebody not liking cyanogen ROMs.

After hours of trying, I've not found any stock ROM that will flash my phone back to 2.2. Worse, my phone won't recognize my SD card anymore - all 3 of them (two 32GB, one 16GB). Cant figure out this one, either. Every card I install won't mount and causes the following error message: "SD card is blank or unsupported configuration." Happens if the card is formatted or full of data.

All I've been able to do is get a version of CM7 to be relatively stable. Since I can't use an SD card, everything is installed to the phone's internal storage. If I try to plug in an SD card after the phone is all set up, a rebooting loop is automatically triggered after displaying the CM7 welcome screen. The only way to stop it is by doing a full data/cache wipe which takes the phone back to a working CM7 state.

Why, oh why did I try these fucking CM ROMs???

Counting down the the many days until the HTC Pyramid...

Also as a side note, you DO remember to wipe everything properly before flashing new ROMs, right?

I don't know if its that way for your phone but for everything regarding the Epic I've read, you have to wipe before flashing. And even then, at least by ClockworkMod, you do the factory default/wipe, wipe cache, and wipe Dalvik cache 3x each before flashing.

Yes, of course I do all the proper wiping before trying to install any ROM. I don't know why all the ROMs I try are unable to be opened/installed when I run through Clockwork. That's all academic at the moment because of this new SD card problem. I've now tried 5 different cards and none of them are recognized by my phone.

GAPP installation can have issues for some people with Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.5. Sometimes you have to mount system and data before flashing it.

Have you tried Amon RA Recovery instead of Clockwork? Clockwork has been known to cause issues like this. When I load custom roms I use a separate SD card and load the card via a USB card reader, not through the phone. Do you have a USB card reader to test your SD cards with?

Quite frankly, I think this is a case of user problem...

1. You flashed GApps and don't see it them? makes no sense.

2. ROM manager doesn't work? What are you doing to it? Have you tried uninstalling reinstalling? Do you even have clockwork?

Don't jump to conclusions. CM7 works for most people. And the very few who can't get it to work either didn't root or didn't wipe. Other issues are simply misdiagnosed. Is the phone restarting or is the launcher restarting? Did you keep the launcher in ram?

If it's too complicated to follow directions, stick to stock.

Quite frankly, it's patently obvious you didn't read what I wrote so I'll try to help you out.

1. The only app I had trouble with was Market, as I clearly wrote. Again, reading is fundamental.
2. CM6&7 installed, so I'm pretty sure Clockwork's there. Thanks for mentioning it, though. Good advice is hard to find.

Your comments obviously are intended to insult as opposed to generate any answers. Had you taken the slightest bit of time to do a little research you might have learned that others have had stability problems with CM6 and CM7. Of course, you've already determined that anyone who can't get your precious CMs to work didn't root (yeah, Superuser is on my phone) or wipe so you've got it all figured out. The only one jumping to conclusions is you.

Nice to know there are smart guys like you on [H].

Just returned from Verizon store. I showed my phone to a sales geek and he whispered, "Sir, your phone is fucked." Five minutes later I was handed a brand new Inc. I should have done that days ago. :p

I agree, honestly. I hate CM6 and hate CM7. They both run really, really bad on my incredible compared to sense-based roms.

Stay rooted and get the Virtuous ROM. It's by far the best sense-based froyo rom available, and is EXTREMELY fast compared to everything else out there with launcherpro.
