Steam Sale is on!

If you only care about ingame content, then I wouldn't say that the digital deluxe edition is worthwhile. Just two extra guns. You can edit the .ini yourself if you want a gun with similar function. The armor... well, many complained about bonus armors. You have much more options wearing the default armor. As for aesthetics, you get tired of having the perma-helmet on when you don't need it. Default is just nice. Collector armor is for short lived fun.

i know its a steam thread but for the froogle.

NOOO, you're not supposed to mention this in a steam thread. People aren't supposed to hear about this! (kidding :p )

All you guys have to do is look at the video review of deathspank and darksiders on ign and your hooked.

Hmm some decent deals today. On the fence about wings of prey. How does it compare to IL2?

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one, and most other people think yours stinks.

IL2 is a serious sim, Wings of Prey is an arcadey game with similar subject matter. Even with full realism settings in the game its still not a simulation at all. WOP doesn't have that many planes, the graphics are a little better that IL2, it supports most controls but not particularly well, and online play is fun for a bit but ultimately not fulfilling. It's ok though worth the money except for the DRM and 3rd party online play.

damn. wheres that like button?! Sig'able right thurrr

question: im not really an RPG person (hate tons and tons of reading) but i tried them demo of ME2 and thought the action/gameplay parts of it was pretty fun. i do enjoy story/content as well so should i play me1 first? or can is ME2 good enough to be standalone?

edit: and should i even consider the deluxe edition?

So how is Darksiders on PC? As far as I know it's a direct port from console with no graphic improvement is that correct?
Also pick up ME2, how can I get the DLCs?

ME2 isn't tons of reading (unless you want it to be), it's ton of facial dialogue. ME1 should be done first. It sets the stage for the story, and everything will make a lot more sense. Plus, ME2 will recognize your save game and the choices made in it and affect things based upon what you chose in ME1. But if you won't ever "get around to it", then watch or read some synopsis of ME1 first. But really, you should try ME1.

as mentioned earlier, I wouldn't say the DD edition is worthwhile.

That is lame that you have to own resident evil 5 on STEAM to get the extra $4 off. I bought it retail, have it installed, and added a shortcut to steam, but I still have to pay $20 for dead rising 2?

is blue or risen worth the price of admission? got the girlfriend operation flashpoint so we can coop.

blur seems alright but is less race sim than i usually like... and risen i've wanted but wasn't sure if this was a biting price or a wait more price

I think I'll pass on todays deals, nothing really piques my interest and I already have ME/2 via retail.

Last I checked there were very limited graphics options like only resolution and v-sync options. Don't expect to tweak AA or AF or anything like that. The game is supposed to be well ported though and it has Steam achievements.

Any chance Team Fortress 2 goes on sale for $2.50 like it did last year? I want to gift it. I'm hoping it does.

Dawn of Discovery is on sale for $23... is that a good sale? Or should I wait for it to go on a daily deal?

I would wait until the last day of sales (January 2). If it was not on a daily sale, buy it before the price goes up again.

The entire Valve game collection (including all half life, HL2, and L4D games) is just $49 bucks.... that is easily a month worth of gaming for your life if you haven't played any of it.

Great fkn deal, even for just a few of those games.....

I'm beginning to get irritated with Steam.... forcing me to purchase games on sale when they know damn well I already have a backlog of games..

So far, I've bit on
Assassins Creed 2 (wouldn't have if I remembered the "must be online to play our non-online game" drm)
BFBC2
Amnesia (still need to finish the Penumbra series)
AvP (I figure for $5, can it be *that* bad?)
Bully (looked interesting at < $4)
BioShock 2 (first game was great... this not quite so much, but still looking forward to it)
Resident Evil 5 (hoping one of my friends grabs it if it goes on sale again for some co-op... still looking forward to it regardless)

And I'm looking to bite on Darksiders (DMC4 was great...hoping to get a bit of that in this) and ME2 (haven't even started the first).

you have to get the DLC through Bioware Cerberus Network. http://social.bioware.com/page/me2-dlc

I thought the Deluxe Edition would cover that but nvm, I'm in for ME 2 for $10. :p

Thanks, just wanna make sure b4 I bite.

Really tempted to get BioShock 2 on Amazon since I've never seen it $5 on steam and bought the original last week.

I'm also considering ArmA 2 Combined Operations...

anyone have input on the wings of prey?
It looked promising initially, but it is burdened with ridiculous DRM with 3rd party software that has to connect to separate servers with their shitty software in order to play even the single player. You also only have a certain amount of installations per purchase (3 activations max). It was so bad that the bad press spread through forums across the net, and it sold very few copies. Supposedly you can email the company for more activations, but word is that the customer service is so bad they never reply.

From what I've seen on various forums (especially the steam forums), the company is not even supporting the game at all despite the need for patches. So if you bought it now despite all the bad press, you may not even get to play since the DRM can't connect to the servers.

Go to the purchase page for the game. On the right hand side should be a link to discuss it in the steam forums. There you will see an unending list of complaint threads. At this point the sale price for this game is of pure desperation on the developer's part.
