Caught Spying on Student, FBI Demands GPS Tracker Back

After the device was found, he should have went home, parked his car in the garage (private property no in view of public) and then called the media. When the FBI said they want it back, say nope, I'm not gonna touch that spooky black box or my car and you're not allowed onto my property. Then the same Judge that approved it can get a real warrant.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to restrict your right to BLOW UP AMERICA!

(Just to be safe here, I'm not serious)

OOoooo.....you've just been flagged! Keep an eye out for MIB. Don't travel anywhere too soon.;)

From reading the wired article, it seems like all you have to do to get an expensive piece of tracking equipment stuck on your car (which an enterprising fellow such as myself would quickly sell on ebay) is make vague references to bombs and malls. Very much like the reference I just made.

*waits to win the expensive tracking device lottery*

I quoted you so I could get one too.

My response would have been, well, I'm not giving it back and YOU'RE the ones going to be having the difficult time. People need to stand up and say we are not going to put up with this any more.

your response would have been "YES SIR".

or if you were really as dumb as you claim, nobody may ever hear from you again.

Should have sledge hammered it and then thrown it in the drink. When they come driving and threatening say "what the hell are you talking about?"

I might have kept it on the car, planned a "creative" route that spelled "f-you" on the map and then smashed it.

Hmm... Maybe dropped it off at the nearest ACLU offices.

Hey, attach it to an RC airplane and have a lot of fun with it.

Attach it to a boat, sail a few miles out to where the water is super deep (off of California, where I live), and bit it farewell. Best to have a fast boat.

Attach it to a model rocket and launch it on a "world's fastest car" trajectory. Heck, combine with the last one and launch it out to sea.

Hey, try to toss it into the Monticello Dam's spillway, the well known "glory hole"

Here are the questions I don't think anybody really asked...

Why did the FBI choose him? What did he do or say that got the government to say, "hmm... this looks a bit fishy. We need to keep an eye on him."

The guy can easily say, "I'm a proud american! I haven't done anything wrong! The FBI chose me because I am of Arabic descent" and the anti-conservative media will eat it up and use it as fuel to fire down the patriot act.

All in all, we really don't know why it happend w/ that guy. It his word against the very little words of the FBI.

You know there are conservatives (constitutionalists, anyway) who strongly disagree with the Patriot Act...

What's funny is that it hasn't gone anywhere. The left has the power in every part of government right now, and they could have done it any time in the past two years. They were screaming about it for the entirity of Bush's presidency. Really weird that they haven't repealed it - maybe it's not a left/right thing. Maybe it's a big government thing, which both sides are very very guilty of.

Maybe I should start labeling others as British-American, German-American, Irish-American, French-American (har har har), etc... :p

Just please don't call me caucasian....I dont know wtf it means, and I never signed up for it.

I'd have been seriously pissed off if i found this on my car...

Step 1- Hire a lawyer
Step 2- Notify the ACLU through the lawyer
Step 3- After verifying who the device belonged too, in this case the FBI, but retaining possession of the device, i would have had it examined
Step 4- All the information would be posted online about how it worked, what signals it was sending out, and where..
Step 5- I would have sued theliving shit out of anyone involved...
Step 6- Sit back and just watch the shit hit the fan...

and hopefully... within a month... a settlement appears from the feds for a couple million bucks... and i go buy a lamborghini and an apartment near an FBI office.. and make sure every day.. i drive around it a couple times tooting the horn...just to be a fucking asshole...

But hey. thats me...

only one option

iPad+Will+It+Blend+Blendtec.jpg

lol. Imagine the look on the FBI agent when you tell them "Sorry sir, but I blended it.":p

Well, seriously this is some scary shit.

As long as there's time to do all this before you get a hood thrown over your head, and your driven to an unknown location to be convinced you need to cooperate by unidentifiable individuals. Of course the FBI would disavow any knowledge of said op.

Maybe it's a big government thing, which both sides are very very guilty of.

^^ this. Both sides will sling mud until the day they are pushed out of office, but they will at every turn try to take as much power for big government, just in their own respective view of it. Both sides LOVE big brother, they just like to use it differently.

................

I value my freedom just as much as I value my country, and that's why this type of behavior by the government is unacceptable.

So again i ask as i do in many threads, why don't all you Americans who hate that this is happening do something about it, don't you have the power to get those in office who pass such laws kicked out and such? I always hear allot of "i would do X,Y and Z" but no one ever gets off their ass and does it, they just sit behind their computer typing away about it and nothing ever changes and your government gets away with more and more crap.

Welcome to the Fascist States of America, where the government puts tracking devices on your vehicle without a warrant because your friend wrote a blog post that contained trigger words, and then sends agents to intimidate you when you expose them.

But hey, at least we can all get really angry about our taxes!1!!11!!11!!!

Plenty of people do, but part of the problem with the two party system that we have in place is that we aren't getting someone we want, it's more the lesser of the two evils that we get to pick between. You have people like Jerry Brown, who has been in politics and failed numerous times STILL getting the nod for the Dem's in Cali, what does that tell you about the state of the Dems? Meg has a funny ad actually with Bill Clinton calling him out in one of their televised debates but the sad part is, those two are we get to pic from? Things need to change, hopefully activism on all our parts, sending emails to your congressman/woman, senators, etc at both state and national levels, but new faces are needed across the board.

You know how you can 100% prevent this from happening? Denounce radical Islamists every chance you get in public.

Maybe you do, but the Muslim community at large is so quiet you could hear crickets chirp.

That is retarded. You're implying that the burden is now on the innocent to prove innocence. It has been and always should be the other way around: innocent until proven guilty and the burden of proof lies solely with the prosecutor. Just because the Muslim community is "quiet", does not mean they should be somehow targeted or put through extra difficulties. You're saying unless they go out of their way to demonstrate their innocence, they will be forced to live with more inconveniences than everyone else? So that would make them, in effect, second-class citizens compared to everyone else. Wtf?

P.S. computerpro3 originally quoted this:

This article has me particularly worried. Not because I do anything illegal or break the law, because I don't. The problem is that, just as you guys pointed out, I can be singled out JUST because of my name happens to be Arabic. I am an American, proud to be, and I love my country, but these kinds of antics seriously worry me because I can be targeted for no reason at all, and with no recourse because it's now apparently "legal" for the government to spy on me and maybe, just maybe, accuse me of something that I have no part of..

sucks there are so few choices, i assume it is the "politics" in the end that almost make sure of that. I guess more people need to unite and do something....

I would have attached it to an international airplane and watch the FBI see it leave the country..

FBI.. "Why is he shipping that piece of junk to England?"

FBI attaches device to your car = okey-dokey!

You re-attach it to <insert whatever> = prison time you terrorist SOB!

There's always room to test the FBI in this case. Figure out response times and what not.

Step 1: wear a stark white pancho and get in car with tracker every day.
Step 2: Buy tickets for all major sporting events for a week (MLB, NFL, hell even fairs or carnivals would work)
Step 3: Before attending said events, drive to a mosque and go inside for 30 minutes. Come out wet.
Step 4: Attend event and eat chips, drink beer, etc.
Step 5: Go home.

If you aren't being followed by step 3 and arrested before step 4, there's a problem. Only issue is you're pretty likely to get black bagged and sent to Bahrain for questioning or something.

Also, I think I'd actually be depressed if some agent walked up and said "Don't worry, You're boring" ... that's kinda hurtful for a bitter FBI agent.

All that said, I think i'm now also in the expensive FBI tracker lottery :D
