PC Perspective has a sneak peek at a video card that never was. Damn shame too. For those of you that missed the most recent events, you can get up to speed on the whole BFG saga here.

It has come to our attention though that BFG was pursuing another avenue that would in fact bring them back to the graphics market. If they had been able to successfully launch this venture, then it could very well likely have saved the company for a few more quarters.

Lol, trying the backdoor route while (potentially) blemishing ATi's reputation? Nah.

thats supremely funny. :D good try BFG, you will be missed.

I reckon those "collector items" cards will make their way to ebay eventually. Would be supremely nerdy to own a BFG ATI card.

this is kind of like hearing about a guy who dove into a lake to save his kids, but all of them drowned anyway. It kinda sucks, and it makes me sad they couldn't get that last minute save.

Count me in as interested to

If they are cheap :p

But owning an ATi card from one of the former nVidia heavyweights? :p (I already have XFX, ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, so I might as well get the fifth wheel). :D

Its a shame that they could not become partners with AMD and possibly survive. Still, going in through the back door without permission is not usually looked upon too highly.

Makes you wonder if the reason why they did not get any chips for fermi might have something to due with not getting any chips or partnership with AMD.

Looks like it was to be a Canadian offering. I wonder if they were planning on moving HQ north.

makes me think of the voodoo5 6000

Every time anyone mentions a voodoo or 3dfx i get a little sad, i loved my 4mb voodoo card and even my voodoo3 3500-tv, i will always wonder how the market would be different with them still around

to be honest yes it's no exactly good that BFG are gone but it botheres me nowhere near as much as 3dfx's death.

It would have been priceless if AMD didn't notice and BFG just sent these to market. Ahhh, the lawsuits.

No seriously, the 3Dfx splash screen playing whenever the card went into 3D is one of my fondest memories of all time in computer gaming.

It was like the old Dolby Digital AC-3 splash screens they used to play on Laserdisc.....let you know shit was about to get serious up in here.

You would think the manufacturing company would have done some background checking before laying down the green.

You'd think AMD would have question the large purchase of chips before some of them were turned into cards.....

I also miss 3dfx, some of my favorite cards I ever owned.

It's not their job to. They only need concentrate on making sure the manufacturing process is to spec and law. They don't care on design/component choice and shouldn't.

Doubtful that any retail package ones like the ones in the image ever surface on Ebay or outside of the tradeshow. They will show a few in the fall per the article, but AMD will not really be pleased if they ever pop up.

Damn I'm old. I remember that shit. Still h ave a fist full of LD's. To bad my player died years ago.

I was hoping they would actually make the jump to ATI. I've haven't been impressed with Nvidia's offerings of late, but there doesn't seem to be any ATI vendors with the kind of customer support, warranty, or trade up program that BFG had.

I think it would be in their best interest to do so after being screwed by BFG.

It's likely is in their best interest to not know when they receive the order because someone would likely accuse them of preferential treatment. But knowing the industry they probably had a clue and just dropped the 'they aren't authorized' as a heads up to keep the manufacturing company from being completely screwed.

The cards will get sold to someone likely at closeout prices. I recall getting some bankrupt Korean company's Geforce 8600GT with a Foxconn sticker stuck over their logo from geeks.com a year or two ago for like $25 bucks. the OEM market will eat it up.

i hear u man. i used to love my V3 2000. overclocked that bad boy hard, 1 more Mhz and it would start to crash after 30 mins lol

Not particularly fond of BFG slapping their logo on a card made by some random, unproven manufacturer. Even if these had come out, I probably wouldn't have been interested because of that.

BFG is an example of a company that seemed to do everything right, yet went out of business..

They have a Pioneer LD player with remote at the local Salvation Army thrift store for $40 here in Huntsville, AL.

Like you would have known the difference if the cards came out.

The majority of us trusted BFG and wouldn't have questioned who they contracted to make the cards.
