And now a reading from the list of questions provided in the sticky.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, mostly. Perhaps other multimedia work.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Anything under $1000
3) Where do you live?
Arizona
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU (with cooler)
RAM
Case
Motherboard

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Radeon 5870
Corsair 650w PSU
WD 1TB Hard drive (the 7200rpm one)
Some DVD RW drive

6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Some dell monitor. I forget the size.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
ASAP
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Crossfire I guess.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
64-bit

I'm sitting on a 5870, a power supply, new hard drive, and dvd drive that originally I was going to put into my current PC -- but recently some events have transpired that have allowed me to afford a completely new build. As stated in the exam questions, I'm looking for a case, CPU + cooler, RAM, and motherboard. Here's what I'm currently eyeing from the egg:

Cooler Master Case
I want a full tower case for sure. Ever since I started using full towers I refuse to go back. I really like the ridiculous amount of room. Also, this guy has side mounted hard drive bays which are amazing.

ASUS P6X58D-E
First off, I'm pretty partial to look at ASUS mobos first. I've had nothing but amazing results with my asus motherboards, and not so amazing and sometimes blowing up results with other brands. I'm not sure if the P6X58D is the best choice as I'm having a hard time figuring out what exactly is the latest and greatest ASUS mobo for the i7, which brings us to...

i7 930
Actually I really havent hard core researched current CPUs and what is the best and all that. I searched for i7 and sorted by best reviews. Currently I'm sitting on a q6600 at 3.2ghz. I will be overclocking the i7 as hard as I can on air. Speaking of which, I don't really know what a solid cpu cooler is for this thing either.

Corsair Dominator 6gb DDR3 1600
I could keep adding more acronyms and numbers to that link title but I don't know what the other ones mean. Anyway, this seemed to be a popular choice for the triple channel ddr3 kits these days. Corsair has been a reliable brand of ram for me in the past.

So yeah, if anyone has any suggestions or feedback on this I'd love to hear it. I most likely wont stray from ASUS motherboards unless someone tells me that ASUS was responsible for the fall of my father's empire and the death of my mother, or there's some other motherboard that's super amazing out there. I'm all ears on CPU Coolers -- so far in my life I've gone with Thermalright coolers with 120 fans on them but I'm more interested in the ones that will perform the best for overclocking.

Also I have chosen the orange smiley with sunglasses as the icon for this thread as I believe that the icon represents me when I become the owner of a new computer with the aforementioned or your suggested hardware. Thank you for your time.

;D

I'm also running a q6600 GO OC at 3.0 and doing search I was leaning toward the i7 930, is the 930 like the q600 of its time? Sorry for semi-hijacking your thread.

full towers are over-rated these days, mid towers are just as roomy and cooling options.

Asus x58 is good board.

corsair dominator are waste of money... G.Skill is cheaper and perform as well.

I concur with lt_shiro. I recommend this RAM set:
$145 - G.Skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM

And this HSF:
$40 - Thermalright Cogage TRUE Spirit HSF

Kind of.

Thanks for the heads up on the RAM, swapped that out on my wishlist.

Will that HSF cause any overlapping issues with the mobo? Like overlapping a ram slot and such.
