Bad Company 2

That's how I got gold on the M95... got tired of trying to actually snipe with it because it's worse than the GOL... slower rate of fire, wobbles, not as accurate, still takes 2 normal hits to kill.

So I just equipped a red-dot and ran around, found a lot more guys who were injured and went down with single shots :D

One shot, one kill... when you hit them in the head :)

And this is why I DON'T play hardcore. A bunch of pussy snipers taking their no-skill kills from a bush on the other side of the map instead of working for objectives.

And before anyone says I'm biased, there's no way you can deny that sniping is over-powered in hardcore. Without spotting, it is way too easy to find a good hiding place, and just sit there raking in your one-shot kills.

Yup, same here. Hardcore full of camping Snipers. I play the real hardcore..... its called softcore. It takes aim and more than one bullet to kill someone too.

You guys realize there are servers that limit the amount of snipers aloud, right? The 5 hardcore servers I play on, there is only 1 sniper aloud per team.

I also keep away from servers that change the rules. Vanilla pure and simple

That sounds great. I've been avoiding hardcore simply because I know I'm not good enough but I've come into my own a little bit where I may start giving those another look because I've been in some games where the cheese and camp/sniper factor is just over the top. The rocket and tank whoring in some of the games I've played has been kind of laughable as well.

I've been spawn killed by camping snipers. Even in rush games if you spawn at your base.

You can spawn kill in this game although they've done about as good of a "anti spawn kill" setup as I've seen in any game. If there's a way to exploit things, people will find it and they certainly have in this game.

Invariably it's why most online games I just kind of give up after a point.

I was in a rush game last night where I couldn't wipe my nose without one of the same 6 snipers picking me off almost immediately after spawning. All they did was sit, camp, and kill. It's a great way to get your numbers up. I don't blame them for doing it but it's just no fun to play against.

It sucked.

Something tells me if he's struggling with bronze on sniper rifles he probably doesn't have the M95.

Also, all sniper rifles have the same damage / damage drop now.... unless they reverted it.

I probably should have clarified. I have all unlocks at this point. I was using the shotguns with the recon class, and I'm a huge fan of the motion sensor (especially on Rush maps), so all unlocks are available. I've already bronzed the GOL, along with the Type 88s, and I think one other sniper rifle. But the others... I don't know why, but trying to sit back and snipe has lost any appeal. I have been forcing myself to pick up the snipe rifles whenever I'm on an appropriate map.

I'm decent at judging the bullet drop, as I can typically judge well enough to at least hit the enemy from across the map. I don't always score a headshot first shot, but most idiots just continue to stay where they are even after getting hit from a distance. :D

I don't know about that, but I do know that using the M95 close range w/mag ammo is one shot one kill, no matter where you hit them. The red dot makes it way easier to use close range.

Same is true for the M24 and the GOL. All the bolt-action rifles do 100 damage out to 20 meters. Main difference between them at this point is rechamber time of which the M95's is longest, I believe.

You'd be correct. But the M95 does do a whopping 5 more minimum damage (55 vs. 50) against all the other bolt actions.

I managed to bronze all the weapons except the pistols. Some of those guns are a major pain.

Update! Bronzed all the pistols. That was much easier than I expected. The 92FS is actually pretty damn awesome.

I have just realised that by a coincidence I am about 3-5 kills from a gold star on about seven different weapons, and within 20 on about seven others. I am tempted to let my KDR and W/L ratio get bumraped for a while until I can just set it up so that every single gun gives me a gold in one match.

You definitely should do that and post the SN of how many points you get... I think my record was 25k in one round.

Minus a few exceptions, when I golden all of my guns I found my K/D ratio going up quite steadily. It used to be about 1.15, and now it's up to 1.41. If I didn't suck when I first started playing I'd probably be somewhere between 1.75 - 2.00. Now that I've got gold with almost every gun, I've found it a bit harder to keep my K/D ratio up.

I find them all alright to play with, I was more referring to my KDR going down as a consequence of trying to gold the pistols and 40mm SGN and so on. There were a few moments last night where I tried to run away rather than drop the guy, as I normally would have been able to, because I didn't want to go over into the gold.

Got the same problem. I sucked ass royaly when I first started and didn't know any of the maps. Now my K/D is about 2.25 when it used to be .79. It's slowly creeping up after almost every match now though.

Oh gotchya, that's a funny situation. The 40mm SGN is actually pretty awesome; the ammo capacity and reload time is just awful.

yeah same. Mine was in the low 1.00 range, now it's 2.85

Though now it creeps up very slowly so I probably found where I should be.

Good days and bad days (of course).

I'm horrible with names but the 6shot revolver is pure ownage.

1911 is my favorite pistol, good stopping power and I just prefer it to the revolver. However the magnum is nice. My KD is terrible - I'm over 1K neg frags as a medic. I just can't hit crap with those machine guns...of course that is the class I play the least and I don't think I discovered tapping before when I was playing it.

Medic definetly rakes in the big points, but I've been able to hit Ace pins with every class by milking what they can do the best but it depends on your playstyle as well. I've seen players bring in tons of points through kills by camping chokepoints. I'm extremely aggressive with Assault and Engie so I don't really care about my kdr, I'll gun my way to an mcom and strap as much C4 on it possible and blow myself up if I need to in order to win.

Assault: straightforward slaughter and resupply + C4 Mcoms
Engi: slaughter and repair + RPG/CG/AT136/AT Mines Mcoms
Medic: hang out in the rear to slaughter and heal/revive your shields when they go down.
Recon: motion mines, motion mines, and motion mines +C4 Mcoms otherwise snipe and headshot people as far as you can for big points (this took me awhile to learn but my SV98 kill shots from any distance will be a headshot now)

+ I was able to plow through 41-50 pretty quickly once I started working on gold stars and achievements. The bfbcs.com stat page will show your upcoming achievements which I found extremely useful and changes things up if you work on certain gold stars. Hitting ace with just pistols throughout an entire match was a lot of fun and surprisingly effective on certain maps.

tap is the key grasshopper... Medic is my fav class although, my k/d is better w/ assault.

I just started getting deep into the Recon class and it can be a lot of fun. I just find a nice spot overlooking the battle and spot enemies and mortar them, with the occasional sniper shot (my aim is terrible so I choose not to give away my position unless I have to). It's a nice change of pace from my usual Assault antics.

Jesus christ. I jumped into BCBF2 a minute to run a benchmark. This is the first ttime I've really played since the patch. My god it's accurate. I went 6/2 just goofing off with an M60. I'm not sure how to feel about that. I mean literally *click kill click kill click kill* No lag no 50/50 reg. Everything spot on instant kills. Mostly headshots. I guess I should be happy, just a weird feeling. *add server to favorites*

The more I think about it, the more I feel this game would be better and more fun if KDR wasn't a published statistic. I feel people would be more apt to disarm MCOMs, run in crazy with C4, and generally be much more effective (read: not as many compelled to snipe) if KDR was not on their minds. It's not like KDR is a measure of effectiveness for any non-deathmatch mode.

Gratz! I'm a lowly level 25. It's very slow. Any hints on going faster? :)

25 is pretty much the point where I had everything unlocked and stopped giving a rats ass about leveling. I'm only around 28 right now, but not sweating XP anymore and just trying to win matches and shoot bitches.

I think Porter_ did a similar thing and got around 30k points in a round.

Working on the M16A2 platinum and loving going Recon 870 Combat shotty atm. Just the F2000 and AUG to go after the M16A2 and I'll have every Medic and Assault platinum.

Man alive, the Russian server you were on last night was lagging like a motherf**ker, I didn't stay long!

yipeee just hit 50, now what's there to do? : |

Give up and do something more productive?!

Once I get there I'm planning to get back on my Specialized Hardrock Disc mountain bike and get fit again by bombing up and down the Stratford Canal to the River Avon or the Grand Union Canal, with a beer or two at the end. Nothing much better on a nice warm sunny day.

Back on topic! How long did it take you to get to 50?

little MG3 action?

Not to mention the M60, T88, PKM, SAW, XM8 and MG3!

All are seriously easy to destroy whole squads with. Out of all those I would say the T88 LMG was the ultimate killing machine. That was pre-nerf though, it only took 9hrs 30mins to platinum. Best of those now is the MG3, you can drop an enemy head on even before the get a shot off with the bonkers fire rate.

Drop the heal kits and get the defibs hot and Q-BZ will be top of the leaderboard in no time.

Yeah, I was drunk as a bastard and talking to my housemate, so I wasn't being rude or ignoring you if you said Hi, I just didn't realise. I don't know why I decided to try the gold star thing in that condition, I already went over with the M60. I still have another 20 to go with, at least.

I think I need to start giving the medic class more attention myself.

I was going to mention that there are servers advertising themseleves as "noob friendly" and which kick players over a certain rank. You might want to just put a search in for that if you're still finding it hard to get to grips with, I think by this point everyone's steamed ahead and know knows the maps and all the game's/guns' little idiosyncracies.

Had my best round ever last night for KD as an assault on a conquest Arica Harbor map last night...I went 20-1! Previously my personal best was 82-33 on a 10 man valpariso run that we won on the last set of MCOMs (defending) I was just ripping them up with the stiga on that one.

I went into one of those servers when I was level 10. It had 3-4 people that obviously had level 50s already (or much higher) as they were insanely good. It was a rapefest for them.
