Looks good, excited, hope it works out better for you this time round x

Nice videos! I've every game you listed except Shatterd Horizon but haven't actually played them all in Surround yet. Just Cause 2 just became my favorite this year, man does it look like nothing else in 3D, which I could do a vid of it in 3D.

Thanks for posting... watching the linked video for Serious Sam HD now, good to see how triple-monitor gaming works especially with the performance to drive it (GTX 470/480 SLI vs. a 5970 = no more turning down setings with this SLI setup). The camera angle you picked really shows it off well, not too slanted to where you can't focus on the picture to try to feel the effect. The framerate of your video camera seemed a little on the low side... looked like 15fps most of the video :( but 1080p streaming let me see things pretty clearly :D.

Thanks man, so far so good.

Haha ya man, I know how 3D is , trust me. I have a 55" LED Samsung 3DTV downstairs. That thing is amazing. Ive been watching the World Cup in 3D along with the new channel Direct TV just launched thats 24/7 HD 3D called N3D. Its fucking nuts lol.

Nice, I love seeing peoples setups.

Thanks man.

lol

Nice setup.

Haha thanks man, but its the truth man. Next video I put up , I swear im going to get a shot of the temp in my room so you all can see how hot it is lol.

Thanks man but the FPS is actually perfect, just like my any other 1080p video on youtube. BUT i know exactly what you mean because youtube has been acting up with all the HD videos lately. It makes it look laggy and retarded randomly but I can assure you its smooth and perfectly fine. Try it again next time you read this

Vids are the sweetness, thanks man. I was wondering what kind of numbers you were getting with bad company 2, and with what settings. Thanks :)

Cool stuff.

I have to say that, at least for me, Serious Sam HD's FPS tanked hard whenever I looked at water. It's obviously a coding thing rather than a real case of being overpowered, as there's nothing spectacular about the water graphics, but my FPS dives into the teens if I'm looking at a body of water of any size.

I think what we are all interested to know is how much money did you lose by buying and returning your 480 SLI setup, followed by your 5870 Toxic 2GB setup. ;)

Thanks dude. Bad Company 2 runs great. I dont remember the exact details but when I play later today, Ill look into it for ya and post up.

Im gonna have to check that out, when I recorded that Serious Sam video, it was like my 2nd time playing the game lol.

Pretty much nothing at all. Ive bitched my way out paying for restocking fees for all but once when I returned my original xfx 5970 black edition way back. Total was like $86 some change if im not mistaken ?

Your videos have bacially made me switched from my 5970 to dual 480's. I've been a fan, thanks for the great uploads and demos.

And US fan, can't get any cooler.

Don't know, the video still comes through very choppily for me, even at 480p tonight :)... probably just a Youtube thing then. Thanks again for the upload!

So, quick question, do they sell any monitors with minimal frames on the sides to optimize a surround setup?

Wouldn't mind doing that kind of setup, just that I can't standto see an inch plus of frame between monitors...

By the time you angle them in toward each-other and use Bezel Correction settings, it's more like 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch total in bezels on an average setup, on either side of the center screen. I too was concerned with them but I think with 24"+ monitors things would work well. Some people have bought monitors like the Dell U2410 and stripped the bezels from them (see WidescreenGamingForum here where someone describes how he did it: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17897&start=0 (post down the page by doublejj0305) which reduces the size significantly on them.

You can try hiding the bezels behind one another, though I personally found that to make things look weirder with the varying depth of field it introduced.

Anyway, it's honestly not relevant. Everyone says the same thing when they see pictures of Surround/Eyefinity, and nearly everyone shuts up about it once they actually experience the thing. Looking at photographs to "see" Surround gaming is like reading words to "see" how a game looks on a normal monitor. Just doesn't capture the reality of the experience simply because you're looking at all three monitors on your...single monitor. Obviously, you fail to grasp the effect of peripheral vision when you do this.

All that said, I'd love to see PLP support so that the bezels are more off to the side of your vision, but more important I'd like the ability to alter the the level of distortion on the side monitors. In a few games, which have a high and unalterable DOF, the fisheye effect on the side monitors is distracting. That has been much more of an issue for me than the bezels, which I find to be almost irrelevant.

Honestly it isn't that big of deal IF the game has proper FOV. There's not much out there that's affordable that I know of.

GT, staying green through and through!:D Honestly I never doubted that this would catch on with gamers, it's simply a matter of cost. Everyone I know LOVES multiple-monitor setups and even in my pre-Surround days with only two monitors non-techie guests in my home always made mention of how they liked just two monitors. The family I had over at the house this weekend simply though 3 was the bee's knees. I would have gone the Eyefinity route last year but what bugged me were all of the complaints about Eyefinity and Crossfire, they simply don't seem to work that well together though that looks to have improved. I just don't see how guys are running EF on a single 5870, I barely feel good about 3 480s in a fair number games.

Same, that's part of why I never seriously gave Eyefinity a shot, due to the CF+EF issues... among other things with the drivers. With both companies on-board now and proper (required) SLI support on the nVidia side, I think it's going to become a more standard thing to have included in games, and definitely last for the forseeable future. I'm a little concerned with SLI GTX 470's how well it will work at 5760x1200, I can't imagine people running 5770-5830/5850/5870 single-card EyeFinity setups having a good experience on high/max settings in games.

hi bizzmeister, could you try some games in windowed mode and see how it works out ? for example hl2, stalker and crysis

Hey there, im sorry man. I have no idea how to do that and I dont even think its possible.

Haha thanks man, Im a die hard US national team fan. I was in depression for like 4-5 days after we lost to Ghana. akogjeoasigjaeiojaeiogj ahhh just remembering it pisses me off.

And you're welcome dude lol. Sorry for making you spend money, same shit happened to me hahaha. More videos on the way!

Good to see you're up and running again after that letdown that was the toxic 2gb...

I have a GB ud4p board myself and those retards put both x16 slots right next to each other and I am balking at buying my 2nd 480 due to that. The cards would literally have no breathing room and would be millimeters apart in this board. Any issues with the 480's being so close together in the ud5p or are you using the x8 slot instead? I have plans for 3d surround myself specifically for my helicopter flightsim setup.

Hi bizz, its a2 second thing, would greatly appreciate it.

Just run the counterstrike source benchmark with in the option fulscreen (in the gfx menu), and note the score, then run it again with the option swapped to windowed mode in the gfx options menu and let us know the average fps it pumps out as a result :)

Just see what happends with the same settings with the only difference being windowed mode and fullscreen mode in the options menu of CSS, and how it affects performance. To many myths around and nobody to bust them :(

I don't think Shattered Horizon works in multi monitor configurations. It would be sweet if it did.

It isn't a myth that sli and crossfire don't work well with widowed modes. A c.s.s. bench will be capped at the 300 limit anyway with sli gtx 4xx series cards. You've been answered in a ton of other threads on this too, probably at least 6 times.

i repectfully disagree, sofar nobody has given me any benchmark results, and in this tread my main goal i wanted to find out if it workd in 3d surround without any problems so if css bench runs in surround windowed , im already happy to know that it in fact does work in windowed mode. the benchmark is an added bonus.

and let me make it clear, crossfire on my rig does not work at all in windowed mode and ati is not making this fact known, you have to look it up in dark corners of forums to find out it is not supported, the second card does not get used at all. I am hoping nvidia is different and it does actually use the second card.

Thanks bro. And ya, Im using both x16 slots and its driving me crazy. These cards are DEFINITELY sandwiched together, big time. If they were like 2 slots apart like on the EVGA classfied board, temps would be much better. This is a very good motherboard except for this major flaw. Next time I open up my case, maybe even later today, I might put the 2nd one into the x8 slot all the way at the bottom and see how that works. I will let you all know if I do.

Ok I have no idea why you're soo interested in doing this but I did it for ya lol. In full screen at 5760x1080 with every option maxed out, avg fps was 241.

In windowed mode with me messing around with internet explorer and stuff it got 139. I hope that helps ?

But I really cant see anyone doing this AT ALL. I think you were the first time Ive ever heard someone of wanting to do something like this but I hope this helped lol.

I don't think Shattered Horizon works in multi monitor configurations. It would be sweet if it did.

Ya, its too bad it doesnt :(. And for whatever god damn reason, the game is capped at 60fps.

My motherboard has the x16 slots sandwiched too... may see how x4 and x16 on the second card works. I gather it isn't a huge loss on a single card from pcie scaling articles. I bet any loss will be compensated for by the added overclock I gain due to better thermals.

thx a lot bizz, did it work on all your screens ? so you had like one huge window of css accros three screens ?

the bench confirms i guess it probably only using one card when in windowed mode

You're welcome.

Ya it was spanning across my 3 screens and ya it was probably only using 1 gpu in windowed mode. For me, I dont care at all because I'll never play like that.

Hi Bizzmeister - great videos, much appreciated...real quick unrelated question...I noticed you replaced the side fan on the HAF932 with 3 120mm fans...was wondering if you've noticed much difference in temps? I have the same case and had been considering a similar change. Sorry for the thread hijack and thanks again

Just the thought of that 2nd card sitting in an x8 slot would drive me nuts! ;) I just don't know what I'm going to do. Investing all this money into this hardware JUST for flightsim and the occasional racing game seems so wasteful. I rarely even use the th2g now or the 3d monitor in 3d as it is. I do love the 3d monitor but mostly for the fact that it is 120hz. 120hz gaming is the shit compared to 60hz.

Thanks man. I honestly can tell you its a lot better but my problem is that my computer is in a bad spot with little to no ventilation and my room is SUPER hot. Im talking over 80degrees if ac isnt on. So for me, it hasnt been that big of an improvement but if you live in a cold place or have you're pc in the ideal position, you should see an improvement.

I just tried the Couterstrike Source benchmark and I got 142 FPS fullscreen and 128 windowed. I've actually noticed that all my games seem to be capping at 142 FPS, I wonder if that has to do with the 120Hz monitors since bizz is getting twice the frames, seems to make sense.

Why don't you just turn on the AC? I can't imagine sitting somewhere that's 80C for very long.

Also I don't know what's with this fetish that you MUST use 16x slots. In truth, you gain 2% performance at most over 8x slots. Which is why P55 was such a steal if you didn't need TriSLI or HT.

Hmm, thats really odd man. I didnt think a monitor would make that happen ? Is that even possible ?

LOL 80+ degrees F!! haha if it was 80c in the room, Id be dead on the floor lol.

I do turn the AC on but then everyone else bitchs lmao. Trust me, if I could, I'd keep my house at 55 degrees 24/7 lol.

It doesn't sound right, but stranger things have happened with these kinds of setups over the years...

Haha, I know what you mean... I'd love to keep my place around 55-60f :p, but I think my wallet might complain too much ;).

Monday... cmonnnnn Monday.... (my second GTX 470 + the SLI bridge I need + PSU adapter for 8-pin to 6-pin should come in then)! Must decide whether to try triple-monitor or stay with 3007wfp-hc... such a painful decision to be forced to make ;)!
