Just picked up a Logitech Momo and along with it Dirt2 to see what my 5850 could do ... very nice. Although I’m a bit put off by the stupid bug where you can’t change the player name with the Momo plugged in. On the other hand, the graphics and the force feedback are unreal ... you can feel the resistence in the wheel when you are drifting or losing control – sick!!

What are some other driving games you would recommend? I prefer just pure driving games what would not need the mouse – although I don’t care too much about ultra realism.

toca race driver 3 is still the best RACING game to date. the graphics arent next gen, but they arent old looking either... but the best part is the gameplay, its envelopes the art of racing SOOOO much better then grid does. i mean, toca3 is still technically an arcade game with its only semi-real physics... but the way the game is setup, and how you must race to win is SO much more real. grid is almost like the grand theft auto of racing where you just go balls out and smash the shit out of everything... its fun at first but seriously, its not toca4 like we thought it would be.

toca 3 is only $9.99 on steam. i also recommend shift and grid. if you havent played the 1st Dirt, do it!

I had a great time playing NFS:Shift once I got my Logitech DFGT, they did a great job with the in-cockpit view. It's simmy enough to make a steering wheel useful and fun, but just arcadey enough to where you won't get smacked upside the head with a huge learning curve like the Race-on series.

If you want a great online racing game without all the wreckers try iRacing.

It is not a game but a sim and they have a strict code of conduct in the races and also the forums.

There is a fee to play every month and also you have to purchase cars and tracks as you progress to the higher licenses.

For a 5 dollar promo code for the first month go to http://www.inracingnews.com/ and there is a link on the left side.

(if you want to use my email as a referral it is texascanuk AT gmail.com) but that's up to you.

I like the original Dirt a lot if not more, there was some good maps in that game which had more tarmac areas such as the tight windy roads on the Japanese maps.

Flatout 2 is a neat racing games with lots of physics objects on the track to smash through and do stunts off, as well as some very wacky stunt maps for a laugh, we play those LAN games like darts where you have to smash your drive out of the windscreen of your car into a 200ft tall dartboard :)

Gtr evolution and race on are good sin racing game along with rfactor. Plenty of nods for all those games

Wow...cant believe it hasnt been mentioned yet...but Test Drive Unlimited anyone? Easily the most fun Ive had with a racing game...a whole island to drive around and force feedback and steering wheels work perfectly!

Well, the steering works perfectly. But have you gone downhill? Force feedback goes crazy (car goes out of control subsequently) because the road is poorly built by the game developers.

But ya, I love TDU. It's so fun just to drive around randomly in different cars. They're scaling down to a smaller island in TDU2 and hopefully they'll be able to make areas more detailed rather than being generic.

GRiD is an arcadey piece of junk IMO; the handling is just ridiculous. Maybe worth a quick run for ***** and giggles but beyond that it's not worth it (IMO of course). Haven't tried shift so I can't comment. With that said I HIGHLY recommend the GTR (GTR2 and GTR Evo) series; the modding community is great and the racing is epic and immersive. There's also "Live for Speed" ( www.lfs.net/ ) which I've never played but have heard great things about; and it's free!

As far as rallying goes; DiRT 2 and Richard Burn's Rally. What little rallying DiRT 2 has is great fun (the engine suits off-road racing a LOT more then GRiD's road racing).

I found myself enduring all the other races in DIRT 2 so that I could do a rally. All the truck and street stuff was boring, put me in the rally car and tell me how fast I can take the next turn, and then make me eek out every second.
