I finally took the plunge and bought 3 x LCD2470WNX-BK-R. I got them for $750 shipped all together. They will be replacing a Gateway XHD3000 that I have had for a a little over a year and has been the best display I have ever owned period. It is in perfect shape and is beautiful with no issues reported with this model.

I literally stewed for over a month on this choice as i LOVE the 30" space and performance. Im always a cutting edge type guy and have yearned for an eyefinity setup that makes sense. I wanted to make sure that I got PVA panels as I feelt hat PVA represents the sweet spot between TN (shit) and IPS . Viewing angles are the biggest issue in my book and PVA delivers. Brightness is the other issue which is why I purchased the NEC LCD2470WNX-BK-R's after much research.

What I need are other uses that have switched from a beautiful 30" display to 3 x24 Eyefinity. I need some experiences to make me feel better! Thanks in advance.

Don't have one, but a bump for you :) Can you post some pics? That's a great setup.

Also where'd you get them? I've been debating between a nice Eyefinity setup and my 30" but can't find any decent screens for that cheap...

He probably got them from the nec store as refurbs. I just bought a 30" NEC 3090 to pair with my two P221w's. The 3090 was $999 and the P221w's were $180 a piece.

I would save a few more dollars and add another 30".
1- 30"are suited for cutting edge type guys. Dual 30" are even better. Once we get to triple 30" is taht things start getting tricky,as you will need TRI-SLI and QuadFire to achieve good frame rates.
2- You avoid the hassle of Eyefinity issues and are more future proof.

I would recommend dual-triple 24" for massive poker players , with 16+ simultaneous tables ( the maximum a single 30" can handle), and even then, online poker doesn't need S-PVA panel, you can get with the new 2048x1152 TNs from Acer, Dell and Samsung. Plus 2048x1152 is the highest resolution a single link DVI can handle.

I simply dont get the 'reason to pay a premium for triple S-PVA 24" when you can get cheapers TNs or add another 30" instead. There are a few 30" close to the $1000 price point

Eh.. no way on gods green earth Im buying a TN panel. Just aint happening. Once youve seen the others there is no going back.

People are unlikely to be able to consistently position their head in the cubic foot of air necessary to see 3x1 or 5x1 displays with all the displays in roughly the same angle range. Go out of that "sweet spot" with low-viewing-angle TN monitors, and things get ugly. With portrait displays, that spot is much smaller and less tolerant of horizontal movement - the fact that one eye is 4" to the left of the other eye, and sees a slightly different image, irritates a lot of people even on a single monitor.

Dual 30" is pointless for gaming imo... puts the crosshair/whatever smack between both bezels... that's why you want single monitor... or triple... but not dual...

I went from the same xhd as you did, infact I believe you just sold yours right after I sold mine (for a nice tidy price I might add). Anyway, I am now running three 2007fps at 4800x1600 and I do not regret it one bit. I would prefer a 20x30x20 PLP setup, but who knows how long that will ever take, so I got a 30" 3007wfp sitting on the floor hoping to make a comeback into my setup if they ever do support PLP.

I would like to go three 24s but I don't wanna drop another 1,500 to do so, so for now its three 20s for me....booo hoooo lol.

Oh and gaming is a whole new level. You will never ever be able to go back. And if you play flight sims like I do (WOP, ROF, OFF, etc) then you will quickly discover the amazing benefits of eyefinity and trackIR!!!

Welcome to the next level of computing, dont look back.....well you really cant look back with 180 degrees of screen now can you lol

I switched from a 30 to 3x24. Yesterday I plugged the 30 back in to see if I'd miss it. I put the 24s back on after about 15 minutes. WoW at 5760x1200 > 2560x1600.

I do miss the extra vertical resolution though, which is why I'll soon be going 3x30.

And because I know the comments will come otherwise, I ran them portrait for a while but 1200 is too small for WoW horizontally. Its ok for FPSs but when you move your eyes around the screen for UI mods etc the bezels aren't so invisible.
