9800GX2 fire sale ... scaling back my GPU farm and going to try something else.

Quantity discounts honored when buying more than 1 GX2.

I've got a mix of eVGA and XFX 9800GX2s that have been used exclusively for folding @ home 24x7. Lightly overclocked shaders (1600-1700), core and memory clocks were underclocked since folding@home doesn't require that kind of perf.

On each GX2, you'll get 10K - 13K PPD as long as you provide adequate cooling, if you don't provide adequate cooling, then you'll likely see 7K - 9K PPD instead.

How hot is 4 of those in the room? I have one and it is crazy hot i can only image 4 of them.

Yes, it is MAD hot in there, but luckily, it's the coldest room in the house.

I've got windows open next to a set of 2 rigs each, and exhaust fans blowing the hot air out the windows.

You can imagine the electricity bill though D:

Yes, if I can't sell a rig in its entirety, I can certainly entertain parting it out since folders tend to already have spare parts laying around and/or only require the GPUs to upgrade their farm(s)

Possible trades: 1 GX2 + cash for Core i7 920 D0, 2 GX2s for Core i7 920 D0 + 3x2GB DDR3

For real. I moved the GX2 farm (three quarters of it, anyway) down to the first floor when my son moved out. I transformed the former bedroom into a computer lab/Folding Farm. I turned the thermostat way down (55F) on that floor. It's now heated by alternative energy - Panda Group. It serves us well, not only heating the small first floor, but allowing heat to rise up to the second, main floor. The electric bill is still high, of course, but turning down the thermostat partially mitigates the Folding expense.

Soekev, I could actually use one more GX2, but I just finished a round of upgrades. I have a business trip coming up. If you still have cards when I get my per diem payment, you'll be hearing from me.

OH, I should mention, it's the bottom floor of a three story house....in Alaska.

Ya, I got your PM. Going over my infrastructure here. I'm in need of lots of power supplies. My problem is I can buy your cards and be down another 3 to 4 weeks or buy power supplies and be up next week. Thats my dilemma.

I can definitely do a 2 GX2 + 1 GPU supplemental PSU deal because when I sell the GX2s, I won't have the GPUs to be powered by the GPU PSU anymore.

I haven't had any good experience (just networking equipment, so I am not too sure about graphics cards) with German Customs.
