Not sure this counts as "hardware" but to me a good desk is just as important as the hardware I have. My current desk has gone through 4 moves and is getting a little rickity.

Any suggestions for a new one?

So far I am currently considering this desk coupled with some of these for cable management.

IKEA desks are a big favorite on [H]. Look in the Cases & Case Modding/Case Mod Gallery for the Post Your Workstation and IKEA Desk Gallery threads for lots of pics of lots of desks.

If at all possible, go to an IKEA store to get one of their desks. They always run sales that don't appear on their website. My Galant would have cost $400 + $130 shipping through the website. I paid $180 for the same desk at the Atlanta IKEA store.

Galants are popular, but expensive. Jerker's are cheap, good, but discontinued, though abundant on many listings on CL. ;) Vika amon/curry are cheap, but not as sturdy as jerker, but sturdy enough for a 22" CRT. :p

Another reason I would also recommend IKEA is because when you get there, not only can you choose the desk, color and shape, you could also choose to buy your own legs for the Desk.

+1

Very good options. Desks are sturdy, and hold up for years.

My sincere thanks to everyone. Your input has helped solidify my choice in desk. The Ikea thread is great! So many awesome setups to peruse....so little money to spend. :)

I'm thinking of going with the Galant with T Legs and maybe an extension or two.

Here is my incredibly weak attempt to stitch together a panoramic view of my current setup using the crappy iPhone camera.
