I remember reading someone posting a good place to order racks, but for the life of me cannot find it and Google is of no help.

I am looking for a 24u rack to hold two 2u servers, a patch panel, and maybe a switch. I am not sure if I need a 2 post or 4 post rack. This is for home use so I'd like it to be as inexpensive as possible.

I've been searching craigslist, but not many in my area. Any suggestions?

I don't want to rain on your parade but unless you plan to put your servers on the floor (or on-top of a UPS unit, which is on the floor), you are most likely going to need a four post rack. Many servers, unless they are the 1U half-depth variety, are too heavy to mount in a two-post rack which is commonly reserved for communications/network equipment.

You'd likely be better off with something like these (from the same retailer):

If your holding servers you need a 4 post, not that 2 post.

I honestly got my 42u IBM rack off ebay for around 400 with PDU and 2 shelves.

A two post is fine if you have center post brackets for your rails. Or if you use a shelf.

Ideally a four post is much better but then you are either spending a lot of money or finding yourself on ebay/craigslist.

The four post isn't that much more expensive, but kills the plans of putting a mid-tower and UPS on the floor.

Somethings awry, http://www.dantraknet.com/item/85 lists as one set being 20U and the other 16U. But in the description, it references 8U?

"HD8U-EX Dimensions: 21.5" high x 24" wide x 30" deep 2.0 MM frame thickness "
