I just saw the deal on some ddr3 ram in the newegg news letter thing (3x2gb for $70)

I've got an e8400 processor and a 680i mobo.. I obviously hate my 680i (sig). Is there a mobo that'll take my processor AND 6gb of ddr3? I'd prefer to not have to upgrade my processor.. that's a deal breaker :)

I looked on the egg, but didn't see anything suitable, however I didn't take the time to search threads.

you won't see a huge increase using ddr3 over dd2 anyway.

Best bet is just get another 775 mobo thats not nvidia and some more DDR2. DDR2 is dirt cheap.

could probably get 8gb of dd2 for close to 70 dollars.

what do you hate about your 680?

I've had 6 680i boards. one of the fan headders doesn't work, it won't post with all 4 DIMM's populated, wont' OC my e8400, IMO it runs a little hot.

I've got a 2x2gb kit now, I just want more ram, lol.

As Bigbacon said: you won't see an iota of performance difference between between DDR3 and DDR2 RAM with Intel C2D CPUs.

So basically you're gonna need a new mobo if you want more RAM. Just don't get a mobo that uses DDR3 RAM.
