Living in the south, we usually have cheaper power then in some places in the US.

I was looking on my bill and my current rate is $0.09045 per kWh per month ...

I keep seeing numbers like $0.12 & $0.15 thrown around over at FF, so I am taking a guess mine is very low .....

If I recall my last months bill was .06 for first 1kw and .0595 for the next 5kw... total bill was 300+

Mine is 0.051 for the first 2 KWH then 0.07 for the remaining. I'm from Quebec...

I'm in the 9 cent range too. But I also live 30 min from 2 very large coal fire plants.

I'll have to go dig up a TXU bill. My wife pays the bills and I don't have a clue what I pay. I can't change it so I've never given it much thought :)

I think the US average is right around $0.10. I think Anand recently did a comparison of operating expenses (within the last 3 or 4 months) and had some good info on electricity costs.

Here in Michigan, I pay right about $0.10/kWh.

i think ours was .12 cents a Kwh.. but i live in california so thats pretty normal.. last month my bill was 400 dollars.. this month its hopefully under 300 dollars.. otherwise i wont bother turning any of my systems off again..

roughly $0.107 here in south Alabama, US
figured by (servicecost/Kwh used) =

Here in the middle of Misery I pay $0.045-0.05. I don't remember the exact figure but it's around there. I like my cheap electricity.

I'm in Indiana, PA. my bill is $0.055 per kWh. I can see the nearest Natural Gas power plant (although, it shut down last year due to rising gas prices and the power company giving them the shaft, not sure if it started back up again or not). and there is a big coal fired one about 10 minutes down the road.

Czech Republic here, roughly 21 cents/kWh but gets more expensive each year (and will keep doing so in the foreseeable future) also our avg. salary is way...way lower than the avg. salary in the US.Ironically I live 20km (12 miles) away from a fully operational nuclear power plant.

Your power plants like to go boom though :p

Mines around £0.085 per kW.h and I'm running at ~2.7 kW.
That works out at just over £5 per day to run the farm.

Luck ........... :D

21 cents/kWh is harsh man. I thought New Jersey and the rest of the north east US was bad (we are in the 18-20 cents/kWh range for total cost and it changes frequently on many factors such as usage and time of year.

Power costs are the reason I had to cut back on my folding efforts recently. My wife hasn't been working for 2 months and it is hard to justify spending $140+/month on electricity for folding when you need to take care of the family. I need to get a very long extension cord...... ;)

My monthy bill increased about $200+ USD compared to what it was prior to folding, pre-Aug 2008). Some of that increase was energy cost increased rates.

I'm too lazy to figure out kWh. :p

Mine is .09 for the first 500KwH, then .115 for all the rest of them.

It funny this thread was posted...I actually shut down all my home machines last month and saw a $60.00 decrease in my bill....and a 12K PPD loss...

I never realized it was so expensive to run them full load 24/7....and have since decided to kill them next week when I hit 3 million....

So, I'll be down to my work machines, which run anyway....so Ill em em keep folding...

My rate is .0777 for Oct-May and .0892 for Jun to Sep, for an average of .0816. This is in Alexandria, VA.

The increased cost for my sig rig won't show up until next month's bill. Looks like it might be about $50 extra.

$0.109 in Glen MIlls, PA ... waiting for the PECO increase to hit this month.

Dang Evil... I hate it every time this comes up. But like a moth drawn to the flame.. .1485/kwh and these are the "cheap" winter rates in SE PA. I too am dreading the upcoming PECO rate increases. Currently using 1400-1500kwh per month but if the rate increases are too bad I may have to kill the overclocks on the quads to keep costs down.

Where are you in SE PA?

Being near Limerick, you'd think your rates would be lower.

You'd think so wouldn't ya.. I'm almost close enough to run an extension cord heh..heh.. I'd be almost willing to bet not a kw of my power comes from Limerick either. Most of their outgoing lines that I can tell are not destined for the local market. But nuke plants are the biggest scam going in power generation. Notoriously expensive to build due to all the regulatory challenges (I guess the tree huggers would rather we burn fossil and wood) when they were getting approved and just the general cost factor in construction, security, material (plutonium) costs for transport and storage etc.

I can't wait to see what the rates are going to be this year when the caps come off. My summer rates average around .165-.169. I'm surprised your rates are so low.

Are you getting the RH rate? I am ... my townhouse is full electric with a heat pump. I know someone with oil heat who installed a heat pump recently to qualify for RH rates. It was a pain to get PECO to come out and inspect it but he's much happier now with his bill.
