Steam Weekend Deal - Mount & Blade $7.50

I tried the demo of this game and thought it was poop. Good deal if you do like though.

Definitely worth it if you can get into it. Great open ended game. Quests and such are rather simplistic, but there are cool things that can happen like entering a town and getting ambushed by thugs.

The whole game is in the army battles anyways. Great fun riding into battle on a mounted horse (some of the best horse combat of any game ever), swords swinging. Very good medieval combat engine.

Game was released in Sept of 08. Is this any indication of how it will be to play it?

This is a great deal, awesome game i picked-up a copy couple weeks ago for $10 @ my local BB. Lots of mods available

I grabbed this a couple years ago. The e-mail says 2006, and I grabbed it for $18.

And for that $18, it's been totally worth it.

The combat's pretty methodical, probably as realistic as you can get. Mounted combat feels broken, if only because getting hit by a lance moving as fast as a galloping horse *would* kill you unless you had a shield. Even then, if you'd probably lose the shield if you weren't dying from the force.

There's no story to the game (yet), and as others have mentioned, it's pretty much open ended. You start off with a few weapons (sword and shield and ranged, in most cases) and they let you just explore the place with a horse. You can swear fealty to any one of the four (five?) factions in the game and begin to recruit an army to conquer the other warring nations. The AI works, but as a human, you can always find ways around it. Not game-breaking ways, mind you, but still.

But for $7.50? This game's a steal, even if you only sorta like it and put it down over a month. There's a demo that lets you play up to level 6 or so, which is probably very early in the game if you like to go solo for a while and destroy groups of bandits. Granted, there are other weapons, but it's fun taking down people (and horses!) with a couched polearm. :D

At least try the demo. It's fun!

Well, like most games, balance has to be taken into consideration. :)

Hows the performance? I don't have my desktop with me, but would like to try it on my laptop.

1.8GHz Core 2
nVidia 8400M 64Mb + w/e shared memory
2GBs of RAM

Should play quite well. The system in my sig gets a constant 60fps with all settings maxed.

My old laptop ran it decently well; big battles will slow down most likely, though. It had a 1.6 Pentium M, and ATi 300m (128mb) and 2GB of RAM.

I bought it when it was the 0.808 version I believe, maybe a year or so ago. This is not for eye candy people.

Fun game. It kind of reminds me of a combination of Darklands (old open ended cRPG) and a Total War game. Definitely check out some of the graphics mods if you have a modern system.

I grabbed this a couple years ago. The e-mail says 2006, and I grabbed it for $18.

Order Date: 11/28/2005

Paid 14$ for my key. Man, I cant believe i've had it installed for this long, haha. Probably the longest i've ever keep a game on my computer before

Any modern system will play it really well, but the real question, is... how can your system handle a battle of 1000? (need to get the battle sizer mod). Epic!

Sent this link to my brothers. Much recommended! Especially if you mod the battle size up. The size of battles is something that no RPG that I know of rivals. (that and the combat system too)

i downloaded th edemo and ended up playing it all day long. so i went ahead and bit...ill probably tire of it soon but $7.50 is worth it to able to slaughter a bunch of villagers when im bored.

I bit. The game is pretty fun. Its not quite as open world as I had hoped but its a nice break from WoW and it has a real Indie feel to it, but in a good way. The modded graphics definitely help it a lot. Worth the $7.50 for sure.

guys....i cant stop playing this freaking game. i was dreaming about this game last night. its ridiculously fun

i noticed this deal. i looked at the screenshots and was turned off because i thought it looked pretty shitty. now that the mods wer eposted i think im going to get it. i was a big oblivion fan.
