Half Life - $0.98 on Steam

Nice. If there actually is anyone in [H] without this legendary title, spend the buck
 
I think it has come with every Valve release since 2001 but good deal nonetheless.
 
If you buy HL1 on steam, does that mean you get all the expansions and stuff with it free?

I remember a good few years back, I bought a used copy of Blue Shift at an EB Games (used PC games at retail, that was a long time ago! lol) and when i registered it on steam I got HL1 and a bunch of other stuff with it as well.
 
Good stuff, my niece loves Half Life and she's getting her first PC this christmas, a nice little extra to put on there for her :)

And yes, it works in Vista. Valve still do bug fixes to the HL engine 10 years on...
 
I wish they'd remake HL1 as some special edition, update all the graphics, etc. What a great game.
 
If someone's been holding off for the past 10 years on buying this game, why would anyone think that a sub-$1 price is going to change that?

Then again, maybe the people holding out are just waiting for the BF deal?
 
I haven't played this game since high school. I was hoping it was Source, but alas, what do you expect for $1. Going through that training again really brings back memories of late nights and wasted weekends!
 
I remember playing HL1 multiplayer when it was originally released. I also remember downloading mods and character models from school on to 3.5" floppy disks since I was running netzero dialup at home :)

man i remember the big ol box with the original.. opening it up and seeing all the pretty pictures.
 
Got it, I hope they are not going to stop selling it on steam when this is over. It be sad for suck a great game.

 
awesome, I have copy of HL1 I got from a friend a loooonnng time ago. Found it a while ago and tried to add it to my steam account and it said the key was already active :(. They wanted 10 bucks to give a new key lol and this is version that you play without steam anyways. But a $1 I will definitely add it to my steam account.

oh i would doubt that. i mean, how much extra could it possibly be costing them to host sucha tiny game?

I found their website, and it sounds like they're doing alot of orignal content. How true to the game is this going to be? Is it completely reinvented ?

I actually never finished HL1 because my oc'd K6-2 burned out while playing it. It always bugged me that I didn't know what happened before playing HL2.
 
Looks like my little brother is getting his Christmas present a month early this year lol. God I'm cheap.

it jsut so happens that I actually never played HL2, so maybe I'll play this first to get the whole story :D
 
I bought this game for 3-4 people.

Are there any mods to play the single player as co-op?
 
Wow. Fun game. I just started playing for about an hour last night. Thanks, OP! I'm in it for the story since I've played HL2 and it's two accompanying episodes. Nice to know how it all started.

haha, i know I am so lame. I've been caught up with Crysis and FEAR lately, so i rarely ahd time to play half life.

plus my little bro is 8, i dont want him seeing zombies... not now anyway haha
