I'm out for shopping a notebook pc and trying to find the best possible solution for my extremely limited budget. These are the two pc's i'm thinking about:

1. Acer Aspire 5220

AMD Sempron 3600+ 2.0 GHz 256KB L2 Cache
15.4" WXGA (220nits) CrystalBrite, 8ms 1280 x 800
NVIDIA GeForce 7000M TurboCache 256MB (max 896MB)
1 GB DDR2 667Mhz Ram
80GB 5400rpm Sata HDD
DVD Super Multi Double Layer
(MMC,SD, xD-Picture,MS ve MS Pro) Card Reader
Acer Invilink 802.11 b/g Wireless LAN
4 x USB 2.0
1 x IEEE1394
6 cell Li-Ion Battery, 2.5 hours
2.75kg
Linpus Linux

Cost: $472

2. Fujitsu Siemens V5535

Core Duo T2370 1.73 2MB L2 Cache 533Mhz
Chipset NB SIS M672 SB SiS 968
15.4" / 1280 x 800 / WXGA
SiS Mirage 3+ Graphics, 64-256 MB shared memory
1 GB DDR2 533Mhz Ram
120GB 5400rpm Sata HDD
DVD Super Multi Double Layer
802.11 b/g Wireless LAN
3 x USB 2.0
First Li-Ion battery 6 cells/ 5200 mAh , 56.1 Wh for up to 2.5h battery runtime
2.7 kg
Linux

Cost: $565

I'm likely to choose Acer because of it's lower price and external graphics chip. However i'm not sure how much worse a Sempron 3600+ cpu comparing to Core Duo T2370. Could you please give me some ideas?

Compared with the Core Duo T2370, that Sempron CPU is really really slow. I'd definitely go with the Fujitsu. Better specs overall.

Though where are you located? If in the U.S, look at Best Buy. They usually have great deals on sub $500 laptops.

I agree with Danny. I've seen a whole bunch of $399 laptops at Best Buy with pretty decent specs and dual-core CPUs, so if I were you I'd hold out until one of those deals so you can get a laptop that's both better and cheaper than either of the ones you listed here.

Thank you guys, those are big steals comparing to what i have available here. I live in Turkey, maybe i should wait for prices to come down because if you have such prices there... i don't understand, there's not much price difference on oem parts between here and there but on laptops the gap is huge!:mad:

About Geforce 7000M, the online seller here is advertising as it's external graphics chip and user comments also supporting that.

Trust us. It's not a dedicated graphics GPU. It's definitely integrated.

So get the Fujitsu as been said already. The GPU of that Acer is no reason whatsoever to use the crappy Sempron CPU.

Well.. after seeing those prices i'm not sure i can feel good if i buy that lousy thing. Maybe one of you guys buy one of those babies for me and ship to me ;)
