Hi guys...I just want some opinions on this build...

Case: Antec Nine Hundred $70AR

PSU: Antec TruePower Quattro 850W $90AR

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 $200

CPU Heatsink: Xigmatek S1283- $40 / Tuniq Tower 120 - $50...suggestions?...went with Xigmatek HDT-S1283

MOBO: eVGA 780i- $228 / eVGA 750i FTW- $210...suggestions?...went with eVGA 750i FTW $200

RAM: 8GB A-Data PC2-6400 $120AR

Hard Drive: 2xSamsung F1 750GB $220 (RAID 0)
1xSeagate 500GB $70

GPU: 2x8800GTS 512MB in SLi $350AR...downgraded to 2x8800GT w/ Accelero S1 R2 $260AR

Sound Card: Creative SB X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro $49AR...upgraded to an Elite Pro $92AR

DVD Burner: 2xSamsung DVD Burner $46...just one this time $26

Monitors: 2xNEC 20" LCD - $430...anyone know another website, Etch is on backorder and Directron is OOS

Speakers: Logitech Z5500 $106AR

Keyboard: Logitech G15 $50...anyone have the first generation one FS?

Mouse: Logitech G9 $43AR

Who has the Z-5500's for $106AR?!?

The build looks fine. Make sure you can get multiple rebates on both of those vidcards. BTW, you don't need SLI for a 20" monitor, and while SLI is enabled, one monitor will be disabled.

Personally i would go with the tuniq tower because i have heard a lot of good things about it, a question arises though why go with Sli?? the majority of the time it just adds to the PSU load and adds extra heat and noise in the case for very little extra gain, also i think it would a deccent setup if you went with an intel P35 board (it uses crossfire though) so you could save a bit of cash on the motherboard front, alsodo you really think you need 8GB of RAM 4GB or even 2GB in enough and unless you are runnung and O.S using 64bit architecture you wont use all of it anyway.

You beat me to it (damn):p;)

While the Tuniq is tried and true, the Xigmatek is new and offers better cooling capability.

So I finished bought the last pieces of my part...the build goes as follows:

Case: Antec 900
PSU: Antec TruePower Quattro 850W
Motherboard: eVGA 750i FTW
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
CPU HSF: Xigmatek HDT-S1283
RAM: 8GB A-Data DDR2-800MHz
GPU: (2) 8800GT w/ Accelero S1 R2 in SLi
Hard Drive: (2) WD 640GB in RAID0
Sound Card: Creative SB X-Fi Elite Pro
DVD Burner: Samsung S203B
LCD: still need a website that still sells the NEC 20" S-IPS
Speakers: Logitech Z-5500
Mouse: Logitech G9
Keyboard: still need a 1st-Gen G15

So I finished bought the last pieces of my part...the build goes as follows:

Looks nice, although the 2x 8800GT cards are overkill for a 20" monitor, and Creative's sound card drivers have gotten a nasty reputation. But other than that... :)

Get a 24" monitor to put those 8800GT cards in SLI to work. Otherwise, they'll get bored.

To the OP, did you have any trouble fitting the Xigmatek over the ram and northbridge heatpipes? And are you using all 4 RAM slots?

Update again...

I have since returned my eVGA 750i FTW due to DOA...will get a XFX 780i
I have bought a Perc 5/i and an extra WD 640GB HD to run in RAID 5...

Please don't use the after-rebate price, since most of those rebates aren't guaranteed. They could get lost, forgotten, or ignored.

Plus, the correct, before-rebate prices (as well as the locations you purchased them at) give those of us who are interested in some of your parts ideas on how much they would cost.

How'd you get a Perc5/i for $42?!? I don't see the speakers... so you didn't get them for $106AR?

How'd you get a Perc5/i for $42?!?

eBay most likely. I have seen a few of those cards going for that low. I just lost an eBay auction for that Perc 5/i card for $51!! Shit, shouldn't have gone to the beach that day and forgotten about the auction...

what are you going to use RAID 0 for?

i don't recommend it unless you want to risk losing all of your data if one of the 2 HDDs fails on you in any way, shape, or form.

So far I have gotten most rebates except for the ones that already have been processed and approved...

Mostly I have gotten my items either from Fry's or Newegg and even Amazon...One is from local retailer and one from AT...
