Turok Demo on Live Marketplace...

Like the thread title says, the demo for Turok is now available in Canada, Mexico and the Unites States. I haven't downloaded it yet, but I will when I'm done working for the day. I was holding out hope that it'd finally be a good Turok game, but I've recently heard some bad things. I want to try it for myself first though.

For those who are trying it out, be sure to post impressions here.

its a BIT buggy but fun as hell, ive had it for the past 2 weeks, it was in OXM for february :cool:

Play it, youll soon notice its bugs and awesomeness
 
How does the ps3 and 360 version compare? I noticed it on the ps store online last night.
 
uh ya no. I downloaded it on the xbox last night and at least on my TV the PS3 looks better IMO. Those screens of his look washed out, mine looked nothing like that.

gameplay is still crap though.

oh my TV is a 47 1080p vizio, not sure if that helps for any comparisons.
 
It's not as good as I was expecting, but it's not horrible. The knife is a bit overpowered. You can pretty much make quick work of everything with it, except when there's a barrage of enemies firing at you. Then you NEED to pull out the guns. The nice part? You don't have to use the knife at all, it's strictly optional.

The cave did creep me out. It got better once outside, though.

I'm still very interested in this game. Especially the multiplayer. If you haven't yet, download it now.
 
I can't really compare it to anything but older turok games. It has a similar feel which is a good thing. I liked Turok 1 and 2. The demo was fun and kind of tease to me. I'm really easy to please sometimes. I played the Turok demo when it first came out on the PSN about two weeks ago and I really want to buy it after I finish Ratchet and Clank. I love games with dinosaurs in it. Ratchet and Clank had a small area -planet level- with dinosaurs that was just amazing. I don't really care to read any of the reviews because they either trash on the PS3, or they really highlight all the negatives of the game no matter what -1up, Gamespot etc-.
 
Needs more dino-stabbing animations. I used the knife the whole way through and only saw 2 different animations for dino's (unless they jumped on me) and 2 for humans.

Played both versions, look the same to me. Nothing good enough to say wow this looks better
 
I thought the demo was horrible. When I got out in the jungle my objective was "clear out the area." ...wait, what? I'm supposed to be finding the crash site and getting off this planet, not clearing out dinos. Also... maybe it's me, but I couldn't find where else to go or what to do- no other dinosaurs popped in. I dunno if my demo was bugged or I just didn't know where to go, but to me that's a bad sign- either a buggy game or poor map creation that doesn't clearly indicate where to go.

I also didn't like the animation of when you get knocked over (it's repetitive) and the blurry vision when you're damaged. All in all I was really disappointed.

yup, just like the last few turoks, this one is going to suck just as much ass
 
I've been busy the past couple days, but am about to go play it. Unfortunately it sounds like they've dropped the ball, yet again, when it comes to Turok. :(
 
I might be one of the few who actually enjoyed the last Turok game, Turok: Evolution. Having played through the demo for the new Turok game, I'm not so sure what to think. The graphics are OK, nothing special, but they get the job done. The same goes for the sound. The gameplay, however, is a mixed bag. I enjoyed the human on human combat, but fighting the dinosaurs was annoying. Many of the dinosaurs will knock you down if they get close to you, and it happens so often that it starts to get annoying within a few minutes of playing the demo. The in-game controls also feel a little sloppy, but it might be possible to get used the controls over time.

Based upon the demo, I can't say I'd recommend spending $60 on the game. Maybe when it drops to $30 or $40, but it just doesn't seem worth it at $60.

I think that's what a dinosaur would do. Knock you down to eat you. What else are they going to do? They don't have guns.
 
The demo was a terrible mess...the framerate was horrendous. PS3 version at least...haven't seen the 360 version.
 
360 version runs better than PS3 but the game still sucks. i read a review of full game and the same issues apply to each console. Xbox looks better but still is a bad game and PS3 has graphical issues and frame drops.

Are you talking about the demo or full version?

Thats why I mentioned later in my post that I wasn't happy with the controls. There is a dodge technique to get away from the dinosaurs but it's mapped awkwardly to the controller and makes it difficult to execute.
 
What do you expect, this game was done half assed and twice as fast then any other game
 
The original Turok will remain to be the best, although the second one was decent too,
 
i like the 3rd person knife kill animations i thought that was cool the rest of the demo was meh
