Nicolaskl, on the B&W's... is the yellow material kevlar? Because it looks like kevlar with a rifle bullet sticking in it... That's one rugged looking speaker nonetheless. Not really sure why I am making this comment... just trying to stay active in the forums I guess...lol. I know, I'm pathetic
Well... later guys.
P.S. I promise next time I post I'll have something useful to say
I think the Infinity next to it is probably actually the more "rugged speaker." You could probably fire a 9mm point blank into the cast aluminum housing and not penetrate it. The ceramic metal matrix diaphragm driver (CMMD) is probably pretty tough also, although it's not like I spend a lot of time poking at it to test it out. The CMMD driver is made by taking aluminum and then anodizing both sides of it it to a specified thickness, which I guess makes a driver that is very rigid and low mass, which is exactly what you want from a driver.
I think the Intermezzo series may be one of the biggest bargains in the used audio world right now. I think because its slightly overshadowed by the Infinity Preludes. I think audio perfectionists shy away from buying the "midrange" infinity speaker when they could buy the pinnacle, the Prelude. Because of that it seems like the Intermezzo costs about 50% less on the used market even though it probably only cost 20% less when it was new.
The bottom line is that you can get the 2.6 (MSRP of 1500-2000 (depending on whether or not they have the built in amp)) for about 500-600 used, and the 4.1t (MSRP of 7000) for about 1500 used.
The B&Ws are certainly good speakers though, and they're for sale. Trying to sell them locally though. I know I could get more on eBay for them but I don't have the OG boxes and I don't want to hassle with packaging them for shipping. Resale is one of the great things about B&Ws. I think I paid 1350 new for them new, including taxes, and based of eBay prices if I wanted to split them up and ship them I could probably sell the 5 speakers for $1000. Definitely $900. 450 bucks for 4 years worth of audio enjoyment is pretty goddamn cheap. I wouldn't buy new ones thought, for new speakers in that price range I think Internet Direct is the way to go. I compared my 602s to a buddies Axioms (which I told him to get) and I think the Axioms absolutely dominated the B&Ws. They sounded so much fuller I thought something was actually wrong with my B&Ws.
