Extreme dissapointment with Activision and I

I find the support Activision has given me both dissapointing and disgusting concerning the MP bug (where it crashes after you try and enter the program) in CoD 4. I've have emailed them, called them and read the response they have given on their website. They say that it is an issue with a sound card driver and one must either uninstall the drivers or download the newest drivers. However, myself and many other people have done both these things and found them to be useless. After repeatedly telling them this, they still said that was the solution and they can't help me any further.
A forum post with over 65 complaints is also at the IW forum for a day with no word from a moderator.

I just spent 1500$ on a new computer and 50$ for the game i've been looking foward to for about a year and find out I (and many other angry fans) can't play the multiplayer.

It's not so much that they have not fixed it, but that IW hasn't responded and Activision has bluntly put out a BS solution which many people have found unhelpful.

Is it too much to ask for an IW moderator to say "we see the problem and are working to try and fix it asap" or for Activision to realize that their solution helps mabye 5% of the people.

Looks like I will be waiting another day and If i don't get responses, I will return the game.. its a shame since ive been a cod fan since the start =(

No offense, but the game has been out for one day. So 65 people can't play the game because of a error while many many many more have no issue with it. You don't even know if the error is caused by something wrong with your system or with the game.

I suppose you have done all the normal things in this situation:

Update ALL your drivers, motherboard, soundcard, graphics card, etc

Install the included DirectX setup

Returned all your overclocking back to stock

Make sure your graphics settings are not some wacked out setting that either your monitor can't support or your graphics card can't support. For example something like 1600x1200 at 120hz refresh rate. Check the config file for multiplayer and make sure... set it to something safe such as 800x600 60hz.

First, Im sure that its more then 65 ppl, so far there is a thread on almost every single site with a forum about CoD.. some have 10 posts, some have a 100 all saying the same thing. many ppl also say their clanmates and friends have the same problem and Im sure there are at least a few thousand with the same problem who are reading it and not posting... It seems pretty pervasive to me.

I already said i don't care that they havent fixed it yet. I care that the only solution the activision guy gave me was to buy a new audio card (after spending 2000 on this comp and 50 on ur game, no thank you) and IW has yet to even adress the fourm on their website..

65 people on a forum is a HUGE amount to have the same exact problem.

I blame consoles... They spent to much time on the 360 and ps3 version.. I mean they had a beta for 360 but not for PC... they messed up big time imo..

hahahaha, its been what one day and your bitching already. Stuff like this happens, crap i remember when bioshock came out and there were 30+ threads daily on their activation bullshit. Give it a week and they'll probably fix that little kink, if its their problem.

I think its funny that people thing that bug fixes should be done overnight. Nevermind the thousands of lines of code they have to thumb through. And nevermind the years it took to make the game. Fix the crap overnight

If its that important to you, disable the soundcard and use the onboard sound from your motherboard. See if that works.

To do this you would typically:

1. Uninstall driver for sound card
2. Restart computer.
3. During boot, enter the computer's BIOS by typing either Delete or F12 (a message saying which button should flash during bootup.) You might have to try a couple of times, while the computer boots just keep hitting the button.
4. In BIOS enable onboard sound
5. If possible, disable soundcard.
6. Save change and exit BIOS.
7. System will restart, when in Windows, download driver for onboard sound.
8. install driver, upon completion - restart.
9. Now remember to plug in speakers to the motherboard's output jacks.

I apologize if you already know how to do this. Also, if you already are using onboard sound, I guess you are screwed. Or, it could be possible that the issue you are having is another bug entirely.

Hope this helps.
