For me, 1680 x 1050, 16xaa and 16x filtering forced at the driver level, everything maxed, dx10, 60FPS for the most part, sometimes dropping to 30FPS but never lower. That is with an E6600 at 3.4Ghz and a 8800GTX.
That said, this is not that impressive looking of a game. I agree with the comments about the texture detail not being that great. It does look sort of empty--like there just is not that much going on. I wouldn't call this "next gen" or anything like that. This is not going to be the kind of game you will need a quad core for, or anything like that. I don't see envelopes being pushed here, on the graphics front.
This is not going to be a Crysis killer with respect to graphics. Not even close. Part of the problem, I think, is that what really is going to take games to the next level visually has a lot to do with physics, multi-core processing and an increase in the sheer number of things on the screen. I don't think any game that can be co-developed for XBOX360 is going to really wow PC gamers visually. What we've got here is an XBOX360 game with a little extra polish for PC gamers. That isn't going to make PC enthusiasts drool or anything.
That said, this looks like a terrific game. The sound and voice acting is really solid and I really like the overlook look and style with respect to the art. This might be game of the year, but it probably won't be the best looking game of the year with respect to graphics, objectively speaking. Subjectively, it might be the best looking game of the year because of art style and concept. I'm not saying it doesn't look good, it looks great, it just isn't as envelope pushing as you might think, being a "DX10" game.
Can anyone confirm that forcing aa at the driver level with 163.44 drivers actually works the way it is supposed to?
