Halo 3 Beta

I have Crackdown as well, but probably won't get around to downloading it until later today, when I'm done working.
 
Already been playing it for a few hours...and all I gotta say is this.....if this is what they call a beta.....then the actual game will blow your mind!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I cant seem to ever join a game.. I always have to host. Is this right ? (im pretty sure the host is the one with the little 360 light circle next to there name cause i always have that next to my name.)
 
There are 5 people online, on my friends list. The first two are playing the Halo 3 Beta, while the other three are in Crackdown. I thought that was rather funny. Anyway, I went to MajorNelson's site, to see what he might have to say regarding the Crackdown thing, and I got this:

My xbox died last night :(

It is over heating really bad and no matter what I do after two minutes it shuts off. Now by the time I get it back the beta will be over. I think I will cry myself to sleep tonight.
 
We're aware that some users are having difficulty downloading the Halo 3 multiplayer beta via Crackdown. Bungie Studios is working with the Xbox Live team to resolve this as quickly as possible - stay tuned. Gamers entering the beta through other means, such as the Friends and Family remain unaffected.

lol from reading some of the forums, people skipped work today and have crackdown and cant download it now lol. sucks for them.

Hah, thats what my step daughters boyfriend said. He said all his friends were taking off school so they could play it today, lol. I just have to laugh. Will most likely playing some Crackdown tonight regardless.

Me too. Sucks that I shelled out the money for this game partly to get the Halo 3 Beta and it's not available, but at least they attached it to a good game and not some pile o' crap. Since they released the new content for Crackdown I've found a renewed interest and have become inexplicably addicted to street racing.

MS/Bungie are having problems with some coding issues or something. I'll probably try again in the morning (10:15 pm here in Germany).
 
I'll give them till about 3am CST.


After that I have to go to bed. I'll be playin some Crackdown with my buddies til then though, so that will be fun.
 
I'm downloading it now... Wow, talk about slow. I'm sure TONS of people are hitting this up right now.
 
I got it in about 10 minutes. No inverted controls throwing me way off... :( But other wise, it's a ton of fun
 
I never got a code and I signed up literally within the first 5 minutes that you could :(
 
I've played the beta. I have to say one thing...the Spartan Laser is, without a doubt, the most badass and satisfying weapon I've ever used in any game. Period.
 
I didn't realize how to use it and thought it was broken

It's alright... does it do splash damage? I suck with 360 controllers

Either way... It's halo 2 with some better graphics, couple new weapons, couple new vehicles

I won't buy it, but I figure someone else in my family will.

I miss the original halo days... haha... pistol/sniper dominated... gooood times...

after watching the last vid someone posted on here, thats what i said. i guess if it ain't broke don't fix it right? meh

I got in into a party (a bunch of people on my friends list), but it was taking forever to load. We all left the game and the guy started up a party again, so everybody could rejoin. Suddenly I was getting that same message. I was going to give up, and go to bed, and on the last try I gave it, it suddenly let me in. I think there's a thing on Bungie's site though, saying if you have this problem you need to clear the cache/game data on your harddrive. Don't quote me on it, but that's what somebody in the party said, but since I got in I didn't bother.

Multiplayer in Halo 1 rocked. I remember linking my xbox up to the gamespy arcade so I could play online. Halo 2/3 just feel awkward compared to Halo 1.

I dont get that im the biggest bad ass ever feel that I used to get in Halo 1.

And the pistol rocked. :D
 
I played one game last night, and then decided I had to get to bed. It was a team game and we got our butts kicked, but it wasn't too bad. I need to get use to these controls though, since they've been changed up slightly. I just haven't gotten use to holding the shoulder buttons to pick up weapons, or tapping them to reload.
 
all i keep getting is deathmatch and random people. Can you swtich to teams? I didnt have anyone on my list playing it to join with so i just did the match making stuff.
 
Ya', you can change what you're looking for. I can't remember how, but you could pick between a couple options. Ranked matches as well.
 
all i saw was good connection and level but nothing that said team or no team. Ill have to look again tonight.
 
I still haven't played it.

work + broke box = having to make puppy-dog eyes at my friends to use one of their boxes to try it out.


I'm going over to a buddies tonight to try it out for a bit before I head home. I'm curious what everyone thinks of it so far... good? bad? sucks? rocks? etc?
 
Im very , very impressed by the beta. I would post more of my thoughts but im sure there are a billion opinions similar to mine floating around the net.
