(none yet, will post when one comes about) .. seeing as how it took too long for other sites to get it, I'll just give you the places I look for files without having to wait in line....

boo @ erasing saved games

not that it really matters one of my quests was bugged so i was going to start over any way

Very weak that it erases saved games. Most of the fixes appear to be for multiplayer...don't play...don't care about patch.

No luck on the links... only FP has it right now (out of the US english sites anyways)

I'll post a good direct link when I find one in a few minutes I presume....

Seems to be mostly for MP. I'm half way through the game and don't want to start over with lost saved games. Guess I'm going to hold off as I'm not having any problems so far.

2 minutes until I can download it...here's hoping "various other issues" refers to Vista.

[EDIT] Nope, didn't fix any of the glaring performance bugs in single player, for me, anyway.

lol, just as I finish posting a small review and bug complaint in the other thread, I see this thread. It looks like it hasn't fixed my problems in singleplayer, so I'll wait for feedback so I don't have to start over.

I wish they'd seperate the MP and SP fixes, this looks to be mostly a MP patch. You'd think they'd ad a no head bob option with all the screaming in the forums about it, and fix the vista crash issues first.

Bah, just a crash/multiplayer patch, nothing to improve performance or compatability

I thought the point of delaying a game release is to fix the bugs

But looks like this patch will only make more problems, so i am not getting it.

I just looked in the Patch-0-1.txt and found this interesting.. -= v1.0001 March 23, 2007 =- March23 yet were only seeing it today (well yesterday) :p

cant you jsut backup your saved games and then copy them back into the saved game folder after patching?

There are some VERY VERY major changes not listed in the log there.

1. The trader/s now sell some nice things. THe first trader has a Merc and Stalker suit, he also sells guns like the Viper, plus more ammo (for shotguns, etc). Plus when you trade him something it shows up in his stock. Also the prices for things have went up, so overall the "abudance" of money issue is going down.

This means you actually have a reason/use for your money now.

2. The AI has been changed quite a bit. They no longer see you easily and you can hide a LOT better, so stealth is now a vital choice you can make, this leads to you not having to fight every person you come across.

3. The damage model has been tweaked, in the factory the bandits there take like 2-3 bullets to drop now, instead of 8+ (non headshots).

4. Your suits degrade now, which in turn also reduces their +stats.

This is a patch that even if it isn't comptabible with your saves, is worth restarting for imo, at least if you wnat to play in a stealth/more realistic damage along with money having a use now.

As well as some performance tweaks that help performance issues (not sure how well though).

Not true, it has performance/ai tweaks and many very nice single player changes, I have no earthly idea why these things weren't listed in the patch notes, as they are a lot more noticeable/important imo since the game is mainly single player for many people.

"Please note that Saved games from previous versions will NOT work with the patch."

They changed some code so no it's not possible.

Why is FP the only crap site with this patch? Neither the developer nor publisher has the patch for download. Like hell I'm joining FP to download patches. And does Canada use the world wide patch or the US patch?

Well for me, I noticed a pretty nice improvement for the 5 minutes that I've played after installing the patch. I used to hover around the 20s to 30s fps on medium settings with dynamic object lighting at 1280x1024. Now with the same settings I am around the 30s and 40s fps!

I too also noticed that bandits are easier to kill (more realistically) as opposed to the pre-patch where it too 1 whole clip at close range to kill someone.

All in all, I feel this is state that the game should've been released as. From the way I see it though, it can only get better now.

I just ordered my 8800GTS 640 tonight so maybe when it gets here, I will install this patch along with it and start over again. :) glad to see this prompt patch for gameplay issues.

No reg needed from this server.

http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/10335/S.T.A.L.K.E.R.+1.0001+Patch+-+US

Oh, and this is for the Canadian version too and not just the US version as the patch name implies. My box and manual has french and enlgish languages which clearly is not the fucking U-S-A so I at first downloaded the freaking worldwide patch but it turns out I need the goddamn USA version. PITA.

QFT same as the registration for the game. I tried to register and Canada is not a country you can choose.

Uh...how big is this file supposed to be?

edit: ahahaha...attempted to get file from filefront...started downloading a 106meg file...decided to see what 106meg file was...turned out to be a COH update. God i hate filefront.

As a programmer myself I just wanted to LOL at that list, it is completely ridiculous that that many things got by both the development team and the testers.

"Options "show weapon" and "NPC identification" fail to function"

Someone must have forgotten to implement them, oops!

"Players fail to be kicked, after unanimously voting to remove them, during network gameplay"

Are you kidding me?

These aren't glitches and oversights, these are completely unimplemented features... I wish publishers wouldn't put such tight time constraints on developers.

I guess it's the old "release now, patch later" mentality. My guess is that they got the game in a mostly playable state and then decided to release it rather than delaying it yet again. At the very least, they should have released the patch on release day like FEAR and others.

Are those single player fixes verified, if so I'll restart even though I'm a good ways into it.

I hope this is all true. I'm tired of the AI seeing me and shooting me from a mile away, through brush and foliage or in pitch black darkness.

Is there any other information for single player optimization or changes?

The release notes imply this patch carries an emphasis on multiplayer.

I purchased this game for the single player portion so any information is helpful.

Thanks.

Meh, im over having to start again. Somehow I got Duty so pissed at me, they attack me on site, even in town. I think it had to do with an assasination mission I took. Oh well this time I will be more careful and not take every mission.

Yep.

In any case, I decided to patch the game and restart from scratch because I didn't get real far into the game. I can confirm that killing bandits is much easier after the patch. I haven't noticed any improvement in performance, but I'm not having much trouble with it anyway.

QFT....I also see quicksave/quickload F6/F7 now works which is a big plus for me as I hated having to stop the game and save/load from the menu..

GOD FUCKING DAMMIT. I just got through the zombie part of the game (which scared the shit out of me, i have a thing with zombies..), and just when I come out of the damn mission, I have to start OVER???

Uh, why do you have to start over? I'm doing the zombie mission too.......

My performance was helped a TON!

amd 64 3400
6800 ultra
1gb ram.

I was only able to run it before this patch at medium settings (full dynamic lighting on) with the texture slider to about 2/5, grass at 4/5, objects at 3/5.

Sun shadows on
Grass shadows off

like 70% shadow quality.

Now I'm able to run it on high, with 4/5 texture/objects, 5/5 grass, grass shadows on, a higher view distance + full shadow quality.

I think the reason is that before the patch the game wasn't using memory correctly. With anything higher then medium I got a lot of hard drive swaping, literally just turning around brought the game to it's knee's , now I can run it at high with smooth gameplay, no more hard drive swapping.

I dunno about verified, but I had just reformatted so went ahead and installed the patch - the Traders one is definitely true, as I was asking about it on another forum last night. The suits degrading is true, I noticed that and thought I just had missed it before (it's the blue bar).

AI/performance is harder to quantify, but were I a betting man, I'd put down money that it's also true. I had my ATT fps counter shut off, so I don't know if it really ran more smoothly or not.
