Possible? I'm installing a 9700 zalman on my e4300 system...I'm very happy with it's noise level... are there any alternatives to reduce the number of case/peripheral fans without having a drastic change on ambient temperature? I hate noisy computers.

Not in any particular order, here are some methods

water cooling.
replace 80mm with 120mm
thermister controlled fans (fan speed controlled by thermister on fan)
fan speed controllers
fanless power supply
passive cooler for video card
case mods to improve airflow allowing fewer fans.
etc. etc. etc.

Google silent PC or quiet PC

Someone makes a fanless case. I can't remember the brand, but it costs around $800-$1000 IIRC.

Quiet fans or water cooling are cheaper.
Zalman TNN500/A, to be specific. :)

And yes, it's hard to beat water-cooling for noise-to-performance ratio. (And even cost, if you factor in stuff like a Zalman 9500/9700, VF900 for the video, etc. If you want to tally it up, just the two parts I listed have a combined MSRP of $100- you can build a cheap water loop for under $200, and it'll be quieter AND cooler.

I only have 2 case fans: an exhaust fan and an intake fan. And I slowed the intake fan down to 5.5 volts operation.

You do not need a lot of fans to cool a properly built computer, in my opinion the fewer the better. You certainly don't need more than two case fams/
